I was very impressed with Dr. Ikramuddin when I met him. I only had a few minutes with him after meeting with the dietician, but I felt very comfortable with him. He told me that the surgery will change my life and I nodded (I'm expecting that!), but then he says that its not just in positive ways. He says you'll see how superficial people really are - those that will talk to you after surgery that wouldn't before, etc.

He said that he just wanted me to be aware of that. Also, that this is the most rewarding career - better than delivering babies. I believe that he truly loves his job and loves helping us overcome this hurdle that, for me, has begun to monopolize my life.

I've had a bit different experience with some of the office staff. I had been to this page before, so I knew what to expect, based on others experiences, however I signed up for the consult on March 7th, back in early January... and when I got there on the 7th, they had NO IDEA who I was. I showed them my confirmation letter and they put me in the system, but I'm going to be checking everything twice to make sure its all done.

Overall, because I really like this doctor and have heard great things about him, I've chosen to do the surgery with him.

My first impression was that he truly cared how you felt, he listened even when you knew how busy he was. The office staff have put up with me, and for that I am eternally grateful! They always called me back with any ole question I might have, very helpful and kind! He is up front, brutally honest is what I like the most about him, he doesn't pull any punches. That I have had 16 surgeries to date for other reasons but the surgery with Dr. Ikramuddin was by far the less painful. I can tell he took his time to work around the muscles to cut as few as he possibly could which makes recovery much much more pleasant. The aftercare program is very structured and well written. Although, is there a list of things to NEVER eat??? Going to ask that on my next visit. I would rate him and his staff a ten, they are an exceptional group of men and women. The Gold team at the hospital are the best!! His surgical comptetence and bedside manner are both superb. He is a bit too serious at times but does smile enough.

August 15th 2002 I met Dr. Ikramuddin after waiting to meet him for 5 months. I have only heard good things about him. He seemed very personable, answered my questions well.

I THOUGHT HE WAS A LITTLE SCATTERBRAINED,HIS GLASES WERE REALLY CROOKED (NOTED THIS BECAUSE OF MY MOTHER)AND HE SEEMED HURRIED.
I'VE SINCE FOUND OUT THAT HE'S A UNDERSTANDING AND CARING DR. HIS OFFICE STAFF WERE VERY HELPFUL. THE WORST THING ABOUT HIM IS HAVING TO WAIT FOR HIM ALL THE TIME,THE WAIT SEEMED ENDLESS. TO ASK HIM RIGHT OUT IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS. HE STRESSES TO KEEP THE INCISION CLEAN AND KEEP UP THE CHECKUPS. HE EXPLAINED RIGHT OUT THAT THERE RISKS WITH ALL SUGERY. I'D RATE HIM VERY GOOD OVERALL. BOTH ARE GREAT. I DIDN'T HAVE MUCH PAIN AT ALL, I EVEN SUPRISED THE NURSES WITH THE SMALL AMOUNT OF PAIN KILLER I HAD TO USE. BUT LIKE I SAID THE WAITING IS THE WORST.

When i first went to the clinic for the seminar. My first impression of him was that he was a good man, and if he operated on me i know it will end up becoming a success.
His nurses/staff were wonderful people as well. They made me feel really comfortable. Exspecially before the time had come to go in to surgery.
His future patients should know that he is a very nice man. He and his staff walk you through every process. He made you feel comfortable to talk with about anytype of problem or question you have.
Yes there is sturctured aftercare program.
I would rate my surgeon, as a 10.

All of above is great.

I was very impressed by Dr. Ikramuddin. I am a Registered Nurse and I was impressed with his ability to educate and inform in a factual, understandable way. He is extremely thorough and I like the protocol he uses to ensure safety and appropriateness of potential patients via the pre-op checklist. I have confidence in his ability as a surgeon, especially after finding out his vast experience. He seems to be a cutting edge (no pun intended =) ) practitioner and a true expert in his field. His aftercare program is appropriate with all solutions to potential problems reviewed. I have had only good experiences with is staff, both in person, and over the telephone. I am scheduled for surgery July 12th and am so excited I can hardly wait! I find Dr Ikramudding to be personable and so far he's a 10+ on 1-10 scale of perceived competency. I believe a surgeon that holds not only excellent surgical skills, but also an excellent bedside manner like Dr Ikramudding serves a patient better because they are addressing the person as a whole, not just a surgery. A surgeon that is able to accomplish that is the best that one can hope for.

I have only met once with Dr. Ikramuddin and was impressed with how caring he is and how caring his staff we met with is. I especially liked how he took the time to explained many things about our bodies and why we run around in the the circles we do in gaining and losing weight. When I met with him on an individual basis, he went over my history and was upfront with me about the risks that I will face due to my medical history of Crohns Disease and past surgeries I've had, and because I've had a colon resection and gallbladder surgery, along with the Crohns, he was upfront about the possibility that I might not be a candidate for the surgery. He did assure me though that he would go over my medical history and weigh the risks involved for me. Even though it put a bit of a damper on my excitement of losing all this weight through the surgery, I did like that he was so upfront about it. It also showed me that he is very cautious and doesn't just give the surgery to anyone to fill his pocket with money. Overall, if I am able to have the surgery, I would feel confident in him performing the surgery.

Though I have yet to meet my surgeon, I understand that he must be a very busy man. I called on May 23, 2002 to schedule an initial consultation. I was told that the first available time was December 6, 2002. That is a long wait - 6 months away and the surgery is 3 or 4 months after that.

My first impression of Dr. Ikramuddin was great. He was super informative and personable. He seemed confident and really assured me that the insurance company will approve me. I have to get my gall bladder out and he gave me super advice on how to go about both surgery's. He even told me to have my primary doctor call him. His staff was informative and really helpful, they explained a lot on the nutrition side and the risks of surgery. I feel as though I am very well informed. I haven't had the surgery yet, so I'll rate him after that's over.
