I had my by-pass oct 31 2000. I am down 200 pounds. Wow what a wonderful new life. For anyone who is seeking to use Dr. Baker I think you have found the best man for the job. Don't come to him with excuses and in need of a friend. Come to him expecting a great surgeon and a great support staff and someone who wants what is best for you if you are willing to do your part you will be very happy with Dr. Baker. I have had some health problems NOT related to the by-pass that Dr.Baker was so great to help me with he always took time to call me personally. So If that is the kind of help you are looking for you are in the right place. Good luck. Oh by the way it has been hard work I work out with a trainer and on my own watch what I eat.Battle with my mind still. But I look better at thirty than I ever thought possible.

Have not met Dr. Baker yet but know several who have gone to him. He was highly recommended. I have talked with Becky in his office and she has been a great help and very informative.

My first impression of Dr. Baker was very positive. He is very thorough when explaining everything that will happen during and after the surgery. My impression of him has not changed. His office staff is very courteous and professional. Dr. Baker explained the risks of the surgery and wanted to make clear to me the serious nature of the procedure and he emphasized the importance of the "forever" care and changes that will have to be made. His bedside manner is good and I would recommend him to anyone considering this surgery that lives in the Little Rock, Arkansas area.

6/22/1 I met Dr. Baker for the first time today. I have no doubt that he knows what he is doing. He is very informative and takes time with you to explain exactly what is going to go on before, during, and after surgery. His office staff was very sweet and understanding. Whenever I call there, they are prompt and patient with me. Dr. Baker does tend to be alittle harsh with his questioning about your dedication. I think he has had good results from his method of consultation. However, I do not think it is necessary to be quiet so hard on his new, nervous patients. Also, I was not given the time to ask all of my questions. When he finally did stop long enough to listen, I was standing in the middle of an exam room with nothing but a gown that was open down the front.....My notes were buried under my clothes and I did not feel that he had the time for me to dig them out. I failed to asked several very important questions. I just wished he had stopped and asked me if I had any questions before I took off all my clothes. But I would rate him overall as a very good doctor and surgeon that knows what he is doing. I will listen to what he tells me and I will do as he tells me. I think this way I will be successful for the long haul.

<br>I finally met Dr. Baker for my initial consult yesterd (9-7). He was not quite what I had expected. I had heard that he was very hard on pre-op patients at first. I didn't find this to be true at all. He was very up front about the procedure and everything involved in the group orientation, but he was always patient and compassionate. He gave a very indepth preview of what we would be having done, and then we were given diet instruction by Shari, his dietician. After this we were each had an individual consult with a pre-op exam. I was prepared for some really hard questions, and there were questions but none I was unable to answer. I guess if you've thought through all the aspects of what you will be going through. You shouldn't have any problem talking with your doctor about the why's of the past or about why this time will be different. The office staff was very efficient and helpful, but not as... I guess welcoming as I had anticipated. They were never rude, but they weren't overly friendly either. Dr. Baker stongly emphasized follow up and aftercare, and I felt like he had a really good bedside manner in addition to being a very good surgeon. I would rate Dr. Baker as an A++.

Dr Baker was a wonderful surgeon, He is kind and very concerned with his patients. I also think I have the least scar of any I have seen. I think he is the best in his field in Arkansas. Dr. Baker really talks to you about lifestyle changes, you know before you go in for your surgery just what is going to happen.
Dr. Baker has a wonderful bedside manner and I would rate him a 10 out of 1-10

I was very reassured by Dr. Baker's factual approach to the surgery. He didn't spare any of the details and hardships one might undergoe. I feel he supplied adequate time and information pre-op. The staff was very encouraging and informative. He does participate in aftercare support on a local basis. This works well if you live within driving distance. I felt his surgical competence was outstanding. His bedside manner could have been better, he appeared rushed.

I haven't met with Dr. Baker yet, but I have scheduled an appointment for consult and a surgery date of November 5, 2001. He comes highly recommended from various friends of mine who have had this surgery by him.
I am having to go through the Sleep Study program prior to surgery, on October 10, 2001, because I have sleep apnea. This is something Dr. Baker requires before surgery if you have this sleep disorder.

My consult was
Friday the 17th of August. He was very informitive in the question and answer session and I feel that his presentation to the whole group answered alot of questions that I haden't even though about.
When I had my one-on-one session with him, he outlined all the risks there would be, with my revision. He gave me a lot to think about but after that meeting I really feel that I have the best sergon to be in the operting room with me. I have confidence that he will do what has to be done. Yes I, I feel very relaxed with DR. Baker and he will do my surgery, October 30th at 7:30 am. The office staff is great and really belive in the cause. Also the Diettician has all the answers to our food and nutrition questions. So use her email.
Dr. Baker is very strict, about his patients following his rules.
