I met Dr. Crist for the first time after my pre-op tests 10 days before my surgery. He was very nice and very thorough. I am very excited about the surgery and very excited about Dr. Crist being my doctor. He said he's done 65 surgeries laparoscopically on patients from 16 to 65 years old. He also said the worst complication he has had is one case of pneumonia. He has had NO leaks and said he will NOT leave the operating room if he even suspects he might have a leak. I told him I had read from other patients that he was a perfectionist, and he laughed and said it drives his wife crazy. I told him a perfectionist husband might drive you crazy, but a perfectionist surgeon is exactly what you want. So far, Dr. Crist gets an A+ in my book.
Met Dr. Blaney at my one year check up. Not really enough time with him to tell much about him - he seems nice. I guess I can tell more about him over time.
I thought that he was really thourough and .
I thought that I was having to wait too long.
I found that he was just being sure i was ready for surgery.
Kind and polite and caring.
Nothing really .
He will be sure of everyting before he does any surgery.
Very good.
Yes
he was honest and open about everything.
He is really very good .
Both great.

My first impression of Doc. Blaney was a good one. You know they say you can tell by a hand shake if a person is cincir well I could tell he cares for his patients.
He tells it how it is, but he also explains things on a persons level not in all medical terms.
I will tell you more later as my surgery time comes and gose.

I was apprehensive at first. I was thinking that I could go in have the surgery and be done. Having to wait has helped me make sure this is what I want. I really do like Dr. Blaney now. He has a good patient/doctor relationship that I like. He doesn't make me feel as if I am overweight by choice like some military doctors do.
I can't say there is anything I really don't like about him. He explains everything thoroughly and answers all my questions.
He has told me all the risks which is why he has you wait and do the program so you are fully aware of what a change this will be in your life.
I would give Dr. Blaney a good rating. He is very competant and has a good bedside manner which makes me feel totally comfortable with the decision I have made. I would recommend him to anyone.

Well, my first choice for LAP RNY was
Dr. Champion. I chose him because of my aversion to military doctors and a bad experience about 8 years ago. In order to get approved for a civilian doctor, you have to go through the military system in order to get a referral. That's what I was doing when I met with Dr. Blaney now working at Martin Army Community Hospital at Fort Benning, GA. He is a very nice and very understanding. I explained my fear of using the military doctors and he understood. I will be using the military hospital with surgery done by Dr. Blaney. Its nearer to home so it cuts down the travel time. I think having Dr. Blaney in this area at this particular time is a true God-send.

I have been researching everything I can get my hands on. The WLS site has been a tremendous help. I came upon Dr. Champion's site and found it quite informative. He is within my driving area and his experience with WLS is extensive especially the LAP RNY. I haven't had a face to face with the doctor yet but I did have a question for him. I emailed his office and got a prompt response. It was short and to the point. I like that. Being a spouse of a retire military member, there are procedures you must go through in order to arrive at the point you want. So, after my preliminary appointment with my PCP, I will be contacting Dr. Champion's office.
