McCarty Weight Loss Center Bariatric Center
My GNY surgery was approximently 6 years ago and to this day I thank Dr McCarty for giving me a 2nd chance at life!rnrnI found Dr McCarty to be very knowledgeable and quite professional. The only formative behavior which has reduced the number of yearly follow up visits is that I'm quite disappointed in not actually meeting with him!rnrnHis staff is great but I want to meet with my physician. I have issues which I'd like to discuss exclusively with him and not even my PCP puts me at ease in regards to my WLS.rnrnunfortunately, I've never reached my goal weigh and for that I'm disappointed yet at the same time I'm grateful for the weight I have loss. I've greateful for the better health and life I've experienced and as a result I've had several friends and family members join me on the WLS journey.rnrnThank God for blessing Dr McCarty with the skilled hands - now I pray that he is blessed with more time for his patients.rnrn
He was an excellent doctor and I am 4 years out next month and to date have had no complications that I am aware of. I recently called because I haven't been in for over 2 years and had some questions about absorption of some medication I was taking. I was saddened to find out that Dr. McCarty is no longer in the area, but my records were transferred to Dr. Kuhn who I hear is very good as well and I plan on making an appointment with him soon.
Dr McCarty was truly a professional. I did my research for several years before having the gastric bypass surgery procedure in August of 2004. He took the time to go out & talk w/ my family in the waiting room briefly to let them know that I was fine. He even came by the next morning to see me & answer any questions that myself or my family had. I believe Dr McCarty to be one of the most knowledgable in his field. He always took the time to explain the risks involved. My impression of Dr McCarty never changed even in the after care & follow up visits scheduled. As far as I was concerned, my life had been saved! I've heard others make comments about his bedside manner, but I never witnessed anything other than professionalism & genuine concern for my well being.

I loved the job he did. I've had NO complications other than coming out of surgery with a tube in my chest. (pa said it was from a collection of fluid that built in me during surgery. I have not seen Dr. McCarty since my original consult. He didnt even come into my room while I was in the hospital. As far as I know now, he's gone from the Baylor practice. Not sure what the deal is, but I'm just really glad that I turned out ok.
A very no nonsense guy. rnrnIt hasn't.rnrnStaff is very knowledgable and helpful.rnrnNot enough personal time while in the hospital.rnrnHe will shoot straight with you. Very up front, and very confident in his abilities and the success of the surgery.rnrnVery strongly advocates the after care program.rnrnYes.rnrnVery much addressed the risks.rnrnExcellent.rnrnBrilliant surgeon. Bedside manner is fine.
I was looking to have the surgery in March 2006 with Dr. Dirk Rodriguez, but that didn't happen because he stopped accepting Medicare. After doing further research I went to Baylor for the seminar and that was the beginning of my new beginning. I had the surgery on Jan.11, 2007. I am a newbie. I love Dr. McCarty. God sent him when I needed him. He did not sugar coat anything. I would tell anyone to use this God sent man.
I first met Dr. McCarty while I was pregnant and had been diagnosed with Malignant Melanoma. He came to see me in labor and delivery after being in surgery all day. His visit to me was at about 7:30 p.m. a late night for him no doubt. He demonstrated his professionalism from the moment I met him. I was impressed by the fact hat he took a few moments to stop in and see a patient that he had never met, and was asked to be on my case by my dermatologist and OB/GYN. What a doctor. My impression of him only got better as he treated me for my melanoma and stuck by me when I was some what feeling like I would die from my cancer. He continued to encourge me and tell me I would survive. That was 5 years ago. Dr. McCarty's surgical competence and bedside manner are superior. Top Notch, he employs the best of the best staff that work for him. My over all rating of Dr. McCarty is 100 +. I can easily put my life in his hands knowing I will get the best care. In December of 06. I had a very new procedure done, a WLS called the Sleeve, when I first spoke with Dr. Mc about it, he had only done about 40 operations at that time, he took his time to go over each option, the risks how the surgery would take place, etc. I was a little ill after my surgery, one phone call to his office and he had admitted me without seeing me into the hospital because I had gotten dehydrated. I had no sooner got to Baylor, and was checking into my hospital room, and he was there within 15 minutes to meet me and get me started on an I.V. fluid pump and the next morning bright and early he was there again to check on me. Yes, he is busy, yes he is an oncologist, but if you want the best, then you will want to trust your surgery procedure with Dr. McCarty. Top Notch. Skilled. Has structured aftercare program. Busty Practice, but you get top quality care. Future patients should know that when you put your life in his hands, he is so concerned for your health and well being. Dr. McCarty loves his patients and he truly cares for their well being and safe health. Just can't say enough about him. Well, I think he walks on water, does that say enough.
Dr. McCarty is the greatest doctor in his field, he was gentle and kind and very knowledgeable about his profession, he answered all of my questions without trying to hide or sugarcoat anything. He and his staff at Baylor Medical center of Dallas were all on point and ready willing and able to tend to my every want or need. I don't have anything negative to say about him his staff the hospital or the surgery itself if you are in the Dallas area and you are looking for a surgeon to perform weight loss surgery Dr. mccarty is the way to go I will shout that every chance I get
