The Surgical Weight Loss Center Bariatric Center
Dr. Gonzales is a warm hearted person. Who has the best bedside manner. He cares for you as an individual and goes out of his way to make sure your needs are met. He will sit down with you and answer all your questions and then ask again if you have any question.
Most of his office staff is very helpful. I would recommend Dr. Gonzales to anyone persuing this surgery or any other surgery as far as that goes and I will return to him if the need arises for other surgeries..
Dr G is a man of great integrity. I had some complications with surgery and he brought in a specialist to assist him. Dr G's total concern before the surgery was my menal health. He told me 2 days before that if I was hesitant even 2 hours before surgery then he would not do it, he is so patient oriented.
My first impression of DrG is his caring personality and my impressions of him have not changed.
DrG's office staff is fairly good. Connie is great, but there is one girl in there who I think has no clus as to what is going on.
I think DrG gives you a dose of reality as to what life is going to be like after surgery. He discusses complications at lenght and is straight forward about it.
I would let future patients know about him.
UPDATE: If you are interested in WLS you are invited to attend an 'open' support group. This group will met the SECOND TUESDAY OF EACH MONTH; AT FORSYTH HOSPITAL,Meeting Room 1 (ask the information desk for directions) at 7PM
Any one who is intersted in WLS or has had WLS with Dr. Gonzales is welcome.
If you are looking for a GREAT surgeon. Dr. G is it. He has the 'BEST" bedside manner, he spent almost an hour with me after surgery in his "jeans, leather jacket" and sipping coffee, answering all my questions about the surgery, post op and just "family' questions... He was great.
Sooooo, if you are West of Raleigh (Dr G. is in Winston-salem NC) and you want an RNY open or LAP (He does LAPS!!) give him a call.
He uses forsyth medical center.. and their ICU was great (private rooms for ICU not just curtains..

Dr. Gonzales has been great. He has called me at home several times. We communicated back and forth via the internet. He is 4 hours away from me so it has been great that he is so accessible to his patients. His office staff have been courteous each time I have talked to them. I will post more after I meet him this Friday....
I quickly became very fond of Dr. Gonzales. His manner is warm, caring and very approachable. My sense is that he is an excellent surgeon and works hard to take the best care of his patients. He is very knowledgeable of the surgrey types and makes his decision based on the individual. Even though his practice is not primarily Bariatric Surgery he received his bariatric training from some of the best doctors in the state. His office staff are friendly and helpful. They are willing to help any way they can with Insurance issues. I saw Dr. Gonzales on 8/14/00 and my surgery is scheduled for 8/31/00.
he was ok, but he had doubts if i needed the surgery this time.my mother also saw him for obesity and he approved her, because she had a lot of medical problems.the first surgeon i saw said he would do it but he's so busy he doesnt have a slot on the schedule.the second surgeon said that i was not a candidate yet since i had no comorbid illness.
I weighted 400 lbs and he treated me for venous stasis. I asked him to perform gastric stapling at my insistence, since he did them in residency. I was his first patient in private practice to get stapling. He's been in practice a few years. It was miraculous what happened. I lost 200 lbs!!!!. I dont have diabetes now, my sleep apnea went away, and legs got to normal size. He's since done about 12 open roux n y and 6 laparoscopic stapling since my case two years ago. He was hesitant to do me at first since I was so sick, but I think he's very talented although he doesn't want to be called a bariatric surgeon. He's primarily a general, vascular surgeon first.
The only negative thing was that he looked so young. At 40, he looks like a 25 year old kid.
He was well versed with the risks.
He's very sweet. I think he really care about us since some people in his family are very big.
HE LOOKED VERY YOUNG. HES OUT IN PRIVATE PRACTICE FOR 8 YEARS. IN RESIDENCY HE TRAINED WITH DR. WILSON IN CHARLOTTE, AND SOME EXPERIENCE WITH DR. PORIES. VERY HELPFUL. CONI IS THE MANAGER AND VERY ATTENTIVE.
HE HAS DONE 6 LAPAROSCOPIC STAPLING AND IM INTERESTED IN HAVING SURGERY IN MY HOME TOWN. I JUST CANT SEE GOING TO DURHAM WITH ALL THOSE PEOPLE WHO WANTS TO SEE DR. RUTLEDGE. ITS SO IMPERSONAL.
THE NEGATIVE THAT I WANT TO WRITE IS THAT HE WANTS ME TO TAKE COMPLETE CONTROL OVER THE INSURANCE PREAPPROVAL. HE'LL GUIDE ME THROUGH IT AND HE'LL WRITE LETTERS. BUT HE RUFUSES TO WRITE A 50 PAGE LETTER TO SOME INSURANCE COMPANY.
THE MANAGER WILL GUIDE ME THOUGH THIS SCARY PROCESS.
