Dr. Roye is wonderful. From the time I met with him until the day that I was discharged from the hospital he and his office staff was there for me and my questions. He came and saw me pre-op and I trusted his imput on pain control choices and what he thought was the best.
I work in a different hospital and let me tell you when it comes to surgeons Dr. Roye is tops. He stopped in everyday to see and and gave me a swift kick in the pants when I said I was in to much pain to walk. He told me to get up and walk and I would feel better and he was right. Within a day I was feeling much better.
He explained all the risks and answered every question i asked from what is his death rate to my biggest side affect.
Out of 1 -10 I rate Dr. Roye 16 he is the best.
The only negative thing I can say is that the day of surgery there was a schedule change and no one let me know so I waited 5 1/2 hours for my surgery.

Very professional physician. He drew pictures and explained the surgery to me as well as gave me written information. He took the time to listen to my questions and concerns and did not give me "rushed" answers.
Helen, his RNP, is also very caring and visited me in the hospital and answered all my questions concerning diet and activity.
Dr. Roye visited me daily, even on his day off. The Residents examined me daily as well.
Well organized and informative Pre-op teaching class which included the physical therapist, dietician, and two nurses from the two different units; very educational and relieved any post-op concerns.

Dr. Roye was very professional, I was really freaking out in the pre-op area and he took the time to calm me down, he even had a nurse come to talk to me. This nurse was no ordinary nurse, she was a recovery nurse and also a gastric bypass post-op. She calmed me down and told me her story and said that she had her surgery in Oct. and hs lost 80lbs since, she also said that she wouldn't have changed a thing and that this surgery saved her life. It was very comforting to know that Dr. Roye made it a point to comfort and help me through this. Afterwards he checked up on me daily along with 2 other Residents under him. They were all nice and had an excellent bedside manner. I would recommend him to anyone researching this surgery, you may have to wait for the consultation appointment but it really IS worth the wait. He also had a visiting nurse set up for me to follow me along after I got home from the hospital.

Initial impression was of a kind and caring
individual. Very meticulous.

Office staff was helpful.

Great deal of emphasis on aftercare.

Second appt with Dr Roye went well. He discussed tests results in a manner I could understand. He had some concern regards one result and has requested a repeat. He was going to hold off on setting a date but when I explained I needed to start back to school in the fall he offered a tentative date of 8/15.m
I just think he is wonderful. Instills a great deal of confidence. I know I am in good hands.

Helen the nurse practitioner in his office was wonderful and available to answer any questions.

I attended a class on 8/1 where we met one of the nurses in the step down program which is where we will first go after surgery. She explained what we could expect when we woke up and for the next day or two. One of the nurses from the unit we go to after step down spoke about what would happen once we were out of step down.
Following this the physical therapist spoke to us about the importance of doing the breathing exercises and about getting up and walking around.
Lastly the nutritionist discussed the different diets we would be expected to follow over the next few months.
We were given the opportunity to ask many questions. This helped to allay some fears.

Surgery went well. Awoke with a G tube and a Pratt drain. No apparent complications. I was hospitalized for 4 1/2 days.
Dr Roye visited every day and assured me I was progressing well. He checked my incisions, reviewed my chart and asked how I was doing. The nursing staff too had a lot of respect and affection for Dr Roye.

I went home with the G tube in place and was given an appt to see Dr Roye 11 days later (2 weeks post op)to have the tube removed. A visiting nurse came every day to insure I was healing well and the tube was not blocked. Wish she could have done my heparin injections.

I seen again at 8 weeks then at 3 months. Lab work was done at 3 months.

I would highly recommend Dr Roye to anyone considering wls. I received excellent care.
Next appt is 6 months and again more blood work will be drawn.

Very friendly yet business like.
He was very informative and wanted to make sure I understood how serious this surgery was. The front office staff - was not very friendly, rather cold.
I did feel that the office visit was slightly rushed but that maybe because I don't have approval yet, they probably have a lot of people coming in and not that much time to spend. I feel that if I get approval he will take more time. He certainly if very careful.
After sugery Dr.Roye was very good, very talented surgically too. Heard nothing but good things about him from the hospital staff. Can't imagine having anyone else do the surgery.

6/3/02 I met with my surgeon today he's very polite and seemed to be very understanding. He explained the entire procedure. He also explained the benefits and potential risks involved with having the surgery. He also told me about a support group that is held at hospital.

I met with Dr. Roye after 2 months of anticipating my consult. I read so many good things about him, and was very excited to meet him. I felt that he really took the time to explain and answer my questions. He perfectly layed out the pros and cons of the surgery, and explained why it would be good for me. He let me know how drastic WLS actually is, and to be prepared for what would come pre-op. I was a little nervous about not being approved by the insurance company, but Dr. Roye put my mind at ease and told me that it should be no problem. The office staff seemed very supportive, and I felt like they had everything together.
Dr. Roye layed out the effects of surgery well, he physically drew what would happen and pointed out many things I did not know. Overall, I am pleased with him and his office. All of my testing appointments were made in a timely fashion. He seems very proffesional, and is pretty much just a nice guy.

I was very impressed with his empathy, very kind, thorough, realistic. I would like him to perform my surgery if I can get insurance approval.
His office staff are very efficient, however ,when I started to get my denial letters, and asked if they could help by appealing, the girl said that they didn't have time to have my primary MD do the appeal letter, which he did, and they also refered me to this site.
