My first impression of Dr. Rantis is that he knew this all forwards and backwards. He gave an impressive seminar. rnHe is super smart and I feel totally comfortable with him and have only seen him a few times.rnHis staff is WONDERFUL WONDERFUL WONDERFULrnHe hated my purse. :)rnHe makes you feel at ease and he'll explain things to you in ways you can understand and he answers all of your questions.rnHe and his staff stress aftercare a lot. They'll keep tabs on you.rnThere is a very structured aftercare program for you to take advantage of.rnHe addressed surgical risks very clearly.rnOverall I would rate Dr. Rantis a solid 10!rnHe's so great and I would say surgical competence is more important than bedside manner but luckily for Dr. Rantis's patients he has a firm hold on both.

MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF DR.GUSKE IS VERY POLITE,HONEST, AND CARING AND HE EXPLAINED ALL RISKS AS WELL AS BENEFITS OF WLS. HE ALSO ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS AND MADE ME FEEL MORE AT EASE ABOUT WLS.
My first impression of Dr. Kane was what a caring man he is. He looked me in the eyes and told me what it was going to take to be able to get to the point that I could have my weight loss surgery. I grew to trust him more each time I saw him or his staff. Everyone in the office was extremely encouraging and the hospital staff at Alexian Brothers in Elk Grove Village Illinois are awesome. They all emphasize aftercare which I feel is extremely crucial. I had to go back into the hospital in July of 07 and have an internal hernia repaired. I was a sick little girl and had to have an NG tube placed. Dr. Guske who is one of Dr. Kane's associates placed the tube and was very gentle and caring with me. I moved to Springfield Missouri about 5 months after my surgery and I have had a hard time connecting and keeping up with my aftercare here. I now see Dr. Christopher Edwards and his staff is great too. Both are Centers of Excellence and I would trust them with my life again if need be.
*from the 1st time I met Dr Guske @ the seminar I liked him. He seemed so knowledgeable but at no time did I fell like he was giving the upside without the downside. I appreciated thatrn*my impression of him didn't changern*his office staff was very helpful throughout the entire processrn*there was honestly nothing I disliked about himrn*future patients should know they are selecting the greatest surgeon on the planet!!rn*they encourage you to call with ANY questions you have and they have seminars (haven't attended 1 yet)rn*I feel all the risks were explained to me but for me the benefits outweighed (pun intended :-) the riskrn*scale of 1-10? 20!!rn*I think surgical competence and bedside manner are BOTH importantrnI honestly had a great experience with Dr Guske and his staff
