The Center for Bariatric Surgery Bariatric Center
i met with Dr. Artuso on November 22, 2002. i was very happy that it did not take a long time to get an appointment to meet with him. less than 2 weeks. he is very knowledgable about what was to be done. i already have a tentative surgery date of January 7, 2003, pending approval of GHI. so cross your fingers. it was a really big plus not having to wait too long between appointments. in the past i had appointments with another doctor, that kept cancelling.
As far as his office staff goes. they have been very helpful with getting my approval put through
when i had to go for my medical certification the staff in Dobbs Ferry community hospital, are wonderful. they were very friendly and helpful with each test i had to take
My first impression of Dr. Artuso was that he was very kind and understanding. He explained the surgery thoroughly and answered all my questions. He's very patient and he never seems rushed to get to the next patient. He takes his time. He made me feel that there was hope.
My impression of him has not changed.
His office staff is very helpful and nice.
Future patients should know that they can put their full confidence in Dr. Artuso.
He has been very interested in aftercare.
His aftercare program is structured, but seems limited compared to the information that can be found on the internet.
He was straightforward with the risks of surgery.
I would highly recommend Dr. Artuso. He has the skills and the courage to perform this surgery very well.
Both competence and bedside manner are important. Dr. Artuso is the best at both.
This was my personal experience. I cannot speak for others.
It was funny - I was looking for his office with my husband and I saw an office with glass and different people's names on it but because I didn't see his name right away (I was nervous) I turned to go the other way and knocked right into him. He asked if he could help me and I said I was looking for Dr. Artuso and he said well here I am. His office staff is friendly and courteous. I got a referral from a current patient (she had surgery 5/21) and I am happy so far. Yes he emphasizes aftercare and encourages you to seek info on the internet, read books and ask questions. Yes we discussed the risks of the surgery and the risks of my current weight. I would rate him 9 out of 10.
UPDATE: I had my pre-op tests done at the hospital and everyone I came in contact with said your surgeon is the best of the best. You know how everyone talks, the nurses, techs, etc., told me they asked the OR nurses what Dr. Artuso was like in surgery and the said he has the most skilled hands they've seen. The supervising nurse said that he has the best bedside manner you could ask for. He is 100% patient oriented and makes certain that you have everything you need. If he visits you and you are out of ice chips (example) he goes out a gets them for you. I feel so lucky to have someone so skilled and yet so personable.
I have to wait to answer the last ?
Dr. Artuso was excellent. He took time and concern to make sure that I understood and knew what to expect before, during and after the surgery. Since he was referred to my by a very dear friend, I knew he had to be a good doctor for her to refer anyone. Dr. Artuso's staff are as equally competent and effective. They treated me with the greatest care and respect. Both the surgical competence and beside manner are equally important, Dr. Artuso and his staff have both. Currently, Dr. Artuso no longer is a provider in the insurance I have which is Oxford Liberty. However I have been given the choice to continue to see him as an out of plan provider, at his regular office fee.
First impression of Dr. Artuso was a good one. He was real, he explained the surgery, risks, and outcome in terms we could understand. He also spoke to my husband as if he were going threw the surgery as well even tho he isn't, which I like. He did not ignore him at all. That was important to me. I truly liked him right away, he listened when we spoke and addresses our concerns very good. He made me at ease. His staff (well the only one I met) was his secretary Liz. She seems nice and knowledgable. After consult with Dr. Artuso we had to go see Liz she had all the paperwork we needed ready to go. So far there is nothing I don't like about the Dr. Aftercare wasn't really addressed in the initial consult other than to discuss the diet I will be on after surgery. He addressed the risks of surgery very well. I feel he is a very compitent Dr. and I am in the best possible hands. He seems to be a great Dr. my personal impression of Dr. Artuso is based on my own experience, of course I cannot speak for everyone.

He is a very small man. Surprising that he performs Bariatric Surgery...looks more like a pediatrician.
Since my daughter used this surgeon, I feel comfortable with him. She was very pleased with his treatment and has done well after only 6 months.
His office staff is great and they are very helpful to getting the insurance company to approve the surgery.
The one bad thing about his office is that you always have to wait to see him. Since my schedule is also very busy, I believe that the office staff should schedule patients appropriately so that you never (unless there is an extreme emergency) have to wait more than 15-30 minutes.
Dr. Artuso does not have a structured aftercare program, but regular visits (post surgery) are scheduled. I personally plan to see a nutritionist after my surgery.
My Surgeon Is Dr Dominick Artuso. He is Dr Cerabona's Partner. He is a very nice man. I will Update after there are more results.. Right They have done NOTHING for me. If I did not continusly Call I would Never move on with my surgery. Well I had a surgery Date set for June 7th. BUT is seems that the Dr put in for vacation, Plus They Thought I had all the testing done. I did NOT have the testing done. So Thats another setback. So Its May 31st now. I have all The testing done. These are what the test included. I had a pulminary consult, a cardiology consult, and endocrine consult, an echocardiogram, a phychological consult and a nurtitional consult, I also had my gallbladder scanned. I had it all done in 7 days. I am very determined. So I now have a second appt with Dr cerabona For june 13th. then i will get a new surgery date. So anyone reading this Pray for a not so far away date. Thanks
6/13 Well I went Showed my test results and got my Date. My Date is july 30th, It may be sooner if everything works out with the new doctor they are getting. I am very Happy with My new date though.
9/10/01- I have to say one thing. My Doctor.. Dr Dominick Artuso Is The greatest. I would recommend him to anyone. Even though he told me he would have to do my surgery open ryn.. He did it laproscopic. I was told they dont do open on pts who weigh over 300lbs. But he took the chance and I have to say I a really appreciate it. I have 5 small scars. I am very happy and would recomend him highly.
