My inital impression is that he is very business like and professional. He has had extensive laproscopic and gastric bypass surgery but has only this year (2004) started doing lab RNY's. His office staff is still on a learning curve but they are very friendly and helpful. The office leader has had WLS so is very understanding re. clients needs. There is a strong emphasis on aftercare and a requirement to attend a minimum of 2 support group meetings prior to surgery. I will know more after my next appointment which is the pre-op meeting. I personally believe that surgical competence trumps bedside manner any day though bedside manner is nice.

Dr. Burry seemed to enjoy his work and wanted people to be very informed about the surgery before they agree to have it.

Dr. Burry takes the time needed to answer questions for the patients and listens to how the patient feels. He also keeps the patient informed about possible solutions when complications arise (with him makeing the ultimate decision for safety purposes).

The liv-lite staff is extremly friendly and appear to care about the patients. They are also strict about following the program.

I had complications after the surgery and had to have another surgery to correct the problem. I was somewhat upset about having the pain from the complications. I guess the complications were not possible to prevent.

Aftercare was emphasized very much from the first appointment. They make it very clear that the surgery is a tool but the work is the patient's responsibility.

The risks of surgery were discussed in detail at the first appointment and information about risks were given to us to take home and read.

I have met with Dr. Nazarian twice now and find him very caring and very informational. At first, I found him very quiet, still do, but soooo very sweet and caring. His office staff at his Beverly Hills office was very nice as well as his staff at Liv-Lite thru Temple Community Hospital. He seems very personable and I really like that in a doctor. We have spoke about my surgery several times and still not sure if I am having *open* or *lap*. I really trust him so far and I'm sure I my feelings about him will not change after my surgery. He seems to be one of the top surgeons and I feel very confident with him.

I made the decision to have WLS surgery in Dec 2003 and had my first consult with another physicians program on Jan 30th, 2004. My husband and I both did not like how this was presented so I was out to search for another MD. I was approved after the first visit and did not followup with that physician, in the process of finding a new doctor, my insurance company stopped covering WLS but fortunately I was grandfathered in, so it was just to find a docotr then, by now it is middle of february. Made another appt with a different surgeon but before I made the visit, I got a godsend. I was training a new hospice nurse who had previously worked in OR at Decatur General Hospital and on first day on the road she tells me that DGH is going to start WLS and equipment had been ordered. I immediantly asked who was going to perform the surgeries and was overjoyed to find out that Dr Ken would be doing them. Later that day I called his office and left a message for his nurse Lisa to call me back. I had worked with Dr Ken for 18 years off and on and had worked at DGH for 10yrs previously on surgery floor. Lisa, I had known since jr high. She called back that very day after receptionist told me that it would be 3 days before she would be back in office. Praise the LORD!, for the call back and when she found out I wanted to be one of Dr Ken's first pt she called him on his day off and returned a call to me, to get in touch with LIVLITE even before office in decatur was opened.Due to my work position and needing coverage for when I had WLS, I planned for last of May as my goal for surgery. Luckily I saw Dr Chandler May first and was scheduled for surgery May 19th. Even though my RNY would be an open procedure I had the upmost respect and faith in Dr Chandler. Also my surgey was complicated and I was in ICU overnight to help control my sleep disorders, and had to stay in hospital 6 days. Nothing by mouth for 5 days, but it was not bad at all.I am 14 weeks out now and would have it again if needed, I feel great and now have even more love and respect for my wonderful surgeon Dr Chandler. Even me being a nurse, he did not sugar coat anything about the surgery, and required my husband to be present when I did informed consent. Also whenever I see him professionally he wants to know all about my sucess and if I am following program, which I am trying, I dont like to exercise. I feel you can not have a better surgeon anywhere that Dr Ken and my experience as a patient instead of coworker showed me just how wonderful he is. I truely feel that even though surgery was complicated that Dr Ken is as happy with my sucess as I am and it shows everytime I see him, I was truley BLESSED through this journey!!

I had my first initial visit with Dr.Nazarian in January of this year. When I first met him I thought that he was straight to the point but did not talk a lot. My next visit was a month later. I think this Dr is heavan sent. He is very genuine and I felt that everything he said was from the heart and that he truly cared about his patients. This time I did get to see his smile and soft spirt that was very comforting to me. However I was still very nervous. The next time I saw him was the day I checked into the hospital he made me feel safe and sure I was doing the right thing. His staff is great!!!! Rick is someone who will always return a call answer your questions with honesty but with conviction. Dana was a blessing to me when I was scared she always stayed on the phone with me untill I felt better. Pam and Dana and Rick were all there the day I was admitted and went as far as to let me know I could call them if I needed them, even though they would be off for the weekend. When I was about to go to the op.room I saw Dr.Nazarians face and his smile and I knew God was telling me he had this under control and that this is the man he chose to do such a serious life changing opperation. Dr.Nazarian was at the hospital everyday to see me, that would be the highlight of the day to me. My open rny was on Feb 21 2004. This is August now and I have lost 100 lbs. Temple Community hospital is challenged by a language barrior with thier staff, but they were gracius enough to give me a room with two extra beds for my mom and dad to stay with me wich meant everything to me at the point. They even fed them three times a day. I was very lucky!! A few weeks ago I passed a kidney stone and Dr.Nazarian recieved a message from me that I was in pain, called right back and continued calling along with Rick to make sure I was O.K. I have blessed. God has been good to me and I know that he sent theese people to me. I can't begin nor do I know were to start to say thank you. You have helped me change my life and you will be rewarded you have no idea the impact you have made on me and others. Thank you for all you have done. love,ZagiaPerez

I was already familiar with Dr. Burry because he had taken out my gall bladder a couple years previous. My husband and I both liked him very much. My first visit for WLS with him, he was again very nice and supportive. The office staff is very friendly and help with any concerns you have. They never make you feel stupid when you call in no matter what you ask them. Dr. Burry did blow off the pain I had in my side saying he didn't operate there. Future patients will find him very helpful. I would recommend him to anyone. Dr. Burry only sees you at doctor visits and leaves it up to his staff for ongoing support. He has patients come back at 10 days, 3 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, and a year. The livlite program has support group meetings every 2 weeks and they encourage everyone to go. The livelite office is always available to answer any questions. All the risks were written in a pamphlet and the staff went over them with me. I would rate Dr. Burry and the LivLite program as superior. Of course, I didn't have any complications so I don't know how they deal with those. Both surgical competence and bedside manner were great.

Dr. Burry is a great physcian!! He was willing to answer all questions that both my family and I had regarding the surgery. I highly recommend him.

I've heard nothing but WONDERFUL things about him on this Web site and in person.

I had revision surgery on 8/11/03, which went very well.

On 8/28/04, I also had plastic surgery done. Dr. Nazarian did my tummy tuck, arm lift and thigh lift in a 12-hr procedure. As usual, he was wonderful.

I would strongly recommend Dr. Nazarian to anyone. I travel 4-5 hrs from Vegas to see only him.

Have not met with Dr. Chandler yet but I have heard great things.

Dr. chandler is great! He took the time to explain everything. I was very impressed.

I had the best care from Dr. Chandler and his nurse during my surgery.

Aftercare has been good so far.
