Dr. Bosquez and his office staff are wonderful. They are geniune and caring. They take great pride in what they are doing. They have been very helpful in the challenges associated with the insurance battles to self pay information.

I have decided that if my insurance company, Cigna, OK's my application I will use Dr. Bosquez as my surgeon. As well as competent, he proved to be totally DELIGHTFUL, just as everyone on this site has stated.

I met Dr. B on Monday, January 3,'03 at his monthly support group meeting. From the time he walked in he was charming,FRIENDLY-FRIENDLY ALL NIGHT-and made me feel that he was glad that I was there by introducing himself to me. The evening's program was formatted around The Newly Wed Game, and took preparation on his part. I was suprised to see that he would take so much time to insure the pleasure of his patients, and non-patients, as well, after working hours.

I have yet to meet his staff. Did meet people that work on the monthly Newsletter.

I, first, met with Gorospe and his staff several weeks ago, during their Wednesday group meeting. It was so crowded, but they were all very nice. Dr. G, like Dr. B, seemed
to care, very much, about the plight of the obese. But, based on my personal contact with both men, and also on the comments from others on the site about after-care, I believe that Dr. B is the man for me.

If, I understand correctly, Dr. G assisted Dr. Bosquez in his early experience with RNY and then they both learned Lap RNY at different times. Dr. B, at some point, opened his own practice. While his practice is still in its infancy, it would be a good idea, in my opinion, to take advantage of the extra time that Dr. B is able to spend with his patients pre-/post op.

Went to the meeting that Dr. Bosquez's has when he interviews and educates prospective new patients. His group was very small in comparison to others. This allowed him to be all but "one on one" with us. In group setting we could ask and have answered any question that we dare ask in audience with other patients. When group education was finished, he interviewed each of us, individually. He wanted to know why I chose him over his trainer. I explained that my Internist had explained that most problems arise during the "aftercare" stage, and all of the profiles that I had read made it quite clear that his was the best of the two. That means fewer problems going undetected. That's important to me.~~2/21/03

I have come to know the ladies that staff the office of Dr. Bosquez. They are very friendly, helpful, and honest about your chances of being accepted by the insurance company without being able to provide all of the criteria. That is a little depressing, but honesty is the best policy, huh? Hopefully, all of the hard work accumulating what I can will be rewarded.

I turned out to be right about my files. My PCP still has not gotten them back. They actually turned me over to another doctor, even though I told them that I was not changing docs. I've been waiting about 3 weeks now, believing promises made, all the while the doctor and his nurse, Misty, didn't have a clue who I was: "Have you ever come to see Dr. Farish," Misty asked me. I couldn't believe it--she and I talk all of the time; she saves samples for me! Waiting for them now.

The internist,Dr. Barton, has written a really great Letter of Necessity, considering I've only seen her twice. I hope that my PCP will read my file throughly enough to remember all of the things that he has treated me for so that he can write an even better letter than she did. His letter should clinch it if he doesn't flake out on me.~Phyllis Moore~March 20, 2003

Dr. Matt Bosquez is as delightful as all of his patients say he is. I'm so glad I called Cox Hospital in Springfield, MO and got directed to Dr. Bosquez. It was a round about way of finding him (thanks to obesityhelp.com) but I did it. Dr. Bosquez staff is wonderful and you can tell they really enjoy their jobs. It must be very rewarding to be able to help so many people who thought they had to live a sub-standard life due to weight problems. I was told that I have a good insurance plan but I won't start getting hopeful until I am approved. I really like the way Dr. Bosquez gets insurance approval before appoinments are made with the specialists. Dr. Bosquez told our small group about the support group and all the fun they have. I hope I will be able to attend some meetings although this might be a little challenging since I live 2hrs away and don't get off from work until 5pm. Also, either Tulsa is a nightmare to find your way around or I've lost my touch in navigating. I use to be pretty good. Will update again when I hear from my insurance company.

The first consultation with Dr. Bosquez was very informative and small. There were about 4-5 of us at the appointment. We didn't have to go to any other place for the consultation it was right in the office. Lori, Joy and Gina were very helpful. It was a very welcoming atmosphere. It only took 5 business days for the office to contact me to tell me that I had been approved. I had surgery Feb. 14th. The night before the surgery Dr. Bosquez called to see if I was doing OK and if I had any questions. He came in to see me at the hospital once and sometimes twice a day, even on the weekend and Valentine's Day. I had a question about my insicion when I got home and I called Lori and she took down all the information and with a couple of hours HE called me back. While in the hospital we learned that Dr. Bosquez hasn't had any leak incidents. When I was going for my leak test my wife asked the doctor what the % of leaks was for him. The nurses talk very highly of Dr. Bosquez. They say he's very maticuluous (ms).

If you are considering this surgery, consider going to the floor that specializes in this and ask some questions about the surgeon you are picking...1) What is the % of return patients due to complications for this surgeon? 2) What is the % of infections in patients for this surgeon? 3) What % of deaths for this surgeons? 4) How often do you see this surgeon visit patients? 5) How many does this surgeon do on an average day?

It's not always best that a surgeon do MANY surgeries a day. It's the QUALITY of work they do NOT QUANITY.

Dr. B. was very nice from the first visit to after the surgery. He was very concerned about his patient. He was very caring and didn't make you feel bad because you were fat. The office staff was really nice, we spoke alot before the insurance got approved.
They never make me feel like I was bothing them and I called a lot about every 2 or 3 days. I know they got sick of me calling but they never made me feel bad. I always got a person on the phone and not a voice mail. As for the surgery part, Dr. B. called me at home the night before the surgery to check on me. Then, in the hospital he came by in the morning and evening, twice a day. Some dr's baerly come by once. The office staff came by and checked on me, and brought me a good bag. I had a reaction to the steri stips after surgery, he was great, the nurse saw me and then he came in and saw me without an appointment. I'm 2 1/2 wks post op and doing great, rash is gone, along with 20 pounds. Dr. Basquez is Great.

My first impression of Dr. B was that he was very calm and very professional. Once I got to know him, I was even more impressed. He has such a sweet nature and his bedside manner is the best. After surgery he visited me 2x a day while I was in the hospital. He also impressed friends of mine who met him.
Dr. B has a walking program at eh mall with his patients on Sat. a.m.'s. His aftercare is top notch because he encourages you do do your best and he really encourages you to exercise.
I would recommend him to anyone who wants to have this surgery becaus he truly believes in it and he is skilled as well as caring.

Dr. Bosquez and his staff are really awesome. We saw Dr. Bosquez about three times a day while I was in the hospital. Every morning, most noons, and he stopped by every evening after 5 to see if we (my wife or I) needed anything. He didn't stay so long that he couldn't get to his other patients but you were so blown away by the personal attention that it didn't matter. I think if I had a problem, he would have stayed however long it took to resolve. Of the two surgeons I met, he truely was the best for me and my wife.

I met with Dr. L.V. Gorospe and Dr. Matt Bosquez on 8/21/02. I chose Dr. Bosquez as my surgeon. Both were very much qualified and very professional with a good sense of humor. His office staff was very friendly and helpful. The first meeting starts out as a group meeting, which can be very crowded, where they go over the surgery pros and cons and their assistant Michell tells her personal story of the surgery with the doctors. After that you meet individually with the doctor you choose.

Since my first visit Dr. Bosquez has opened up his own practice. He states that you must attend at least one support meeting before the surgery and go to all of them after surgery for at least for a year. The meetings are the 1st Monday of the month in the evening. This doctor is fortunate enough to have great surgical competence and a great bedside manner. I highly recommend Dr. B. He will answere any question you ask.

The night before surgery Dr. Bosquez called to see how I was doing, and then he came out to talk to my mom and I before I went into surgery. This man is a very caring and kind and talented doctor. He saved my life. I brag about him all the time!

My first inmpression of Dr. bosquez was that he listen to me and how I was feeling about having the surgery done. The doctor answered all of my question rather they were important or not. That was one of the things that made me feel comfortable about having the surgery. The office staff was the best, they sent me all of my appiontments to me on paper. Even told me how to get to each on and call ever doctor for me and made each appointmet for me.
He emphasized on the aftercare and following orders a lot and told me about all of the risks in having the surgery done, but he also told me the good things t and about how I would feel after the big weght would be lifted off of my soulder's of being obesity. rating him over all I would say that he is a jewel of a person.

I've met Dr. Bosquez only once, but he seemed like a caring and understanding surgeon. He is also very friendly and funny. He, and his entire office staff, did seem quite busy, though. As far as I know, he and his partner, Dr. Gorospe, are the only bariatric surgeons in Tulsa, and their office is usually packed with people. I have attended two monthly support group meetings, and while they are somewhat helpful, they are quite crowded, and it's often difficult to hear questions and answers from patients and staff. I hope that they will find a larger meeting area or that there will at least be a more personalized aftercare program. Dr. Bosquez and his staff did discuss possible risks and complications from the surgery, and while meeting with Dr. Bosquez individually, he did ask me if I had any other questions that hadn't already been answered. Even though he seemed busy, he answered my questions thoroughly. I didn't have many questions, though, because I had already been searching ObesityHelp.com quite a bit!

It has been several months since I wrote the above comments about Dr. Bosquez, and my opinion of him and his office has changed since then. A few months ago, he broke away from Dr. Gorospe, a change that I think was definitely for the best! Dr. Gorospe is probably a good surgeon, but I don't find him as helpful and caring as Dr. Bosquez. Since Dr. Bosquez opened his own office, the after-care has greatly improved. His office staff is friendly, sensitive, and courteous, and they always remember who you are, as does Dr. Bosquez. If you have an appointment at 3:00, he sees you at 3:00, and you're out of there by 3:30. At Dr. Gorospe's office, I used to wait over an hour just to be taken back to the examining room, where I waited 15-30 minutes longer. The staff in Dr. Gorospe's office always acted like they couldn't be bothered (because they were so overworked), and nobody remembered who you are. Dr. Gorospe's office was so crazy because he has too many patients! Dr. Bosquez doesn't act like he has to perform as many gastric bypasses as he can in the tri-state area! If he has too many patients, he doesn't take any new ones, which equals better after-care for those of us he has already operated on. I just can't say enough about the man or his staff. I think they are wonderful people!
