A major plus was he is a cristian. There is not enogh room to tell you how good my surgeon. He was reall good when I called him if he was not avaliable he called me back with in a few mins. When I had to be rehospitalized. He sayed ontop of what was going on. He is just a wondoful Dr.

I met with Dr. Gorospe and Dr. Bosquez in May. I am comfortable with either - scheduling was weeks earlier with Dr. Bosquez, so I selected him. I am scheduled for August 27, 2002. It seemed so far away when it was first set, but now it seems like tomorrow! The office staff has proven to be VERY busy, if not overwhelmed. I was successful in getting them to re-route the insurance request via fax to the right office, but it did take several calls. Overall, I think they are great - just swamped. The doctors fully explained the details and the risks of the procedure, as well as a good deal about the evolution of weight loss surgery over the years. I have done months of my own research before even seeing them, so I was prepared for what they said.

My first impression of Dr. Bosquez was that he was a very caring and professional doctor. That impression hasn't changed. He came to my room after surgery EVERY day and requires us to attend one support meeting before surgery and one after. He is rated #1 for aftercare and bedside manners. He has one of the lowest rates of complications, and I feel this is because he is a perfectionist. My husband had surgery 6 months after me and it was on Valentine's day (and Valentine's Day is also Dr.B and Joy's anniversary) and Dr. B. came by that evening, the next morning-after he walked with the walking group at Woodland Hills Mall, which is an every Sat. morning thing. He came by twice on a couple of days. It shows that this man puts his heart into his work. I would let this doctor work on any family member of mine because he is the best.

I just love Dr Bosquez. The first visit was very informative AND interesting. His office staff was VERY helpful and EXTREMELY nice. I feel very comfortable having him for my surgeon. From reading about other Drs. in support groups, I think he has to be the best because of his follow-ups, his Bariatric Buddies, his continuing support meetings, the mall walk, and clothing exchanges. I havn't neede it yet as I am waiting on the surgery but it is nice to know it is there. On a scale of 1-10 He is definitely a 10!

I first met Dr. Bosquez On June 4 and I felt really good about him. I felt I would be in good hands with his care. His office was very efficient and his staff excellent. I have since had my surgery and my first follow up appt. He was very careful to explain everything to me in detail and I have followed his instructions exactly.

I would rate him very highly. I feel he was an excellent, skilled surgeon and I would highly recommend him to anyone.

04-05-03 UPDATE :)
My Surgeon (Dr. Bosquez in Tulsa, OK) has to be one of the most caring and loving Dr's I have ever known in my life! He has just continued to amaze me with his true compassion for the lives of his patients! I went for my weekly Sat Morning walk at the mall with him and my other support group walkers and they all had high fives and hugs for me and truly turned my day around! After only 1 week post-op I felt this morning as though I hadn't lost a thing and they all made me feel so happy and proud of myself for walking that those thoughts were the furthest from my mind by the time I left this morning! Being on the "losing side" is incredible! Oh yea, Dr. Bosquez has earned a 10 out of a possible 10 in my book!

My first impression of Dr. Bosquez was a great one! I was invited to a WLS support group meeting that he has the first Monday of every month and the entire group blew me and my husbands socks off! It was incredible to see how happy all of these people were, and how excited and charged everyone seemed to be (even a woman who's surgery was scheduled for the NEXT morning!!! After the meeting we decided to go and walk witht he people who meet with Dr. B every Saturday morning at the mall for about a 2 mile walk. We went and enjoyed ourselves, and I have to say me and my husband are totally impressed by the fact that Dr. B does this and is readily available for his patients every Saturday morning to motivate and answer questions!
As for his office staff, I could not have felt more comfortable or been treated better! They took care of everything when it came to the paperwork to get approved thru my insurance company, and my process was much easier than most peoples, but still they called me imemdiatly when they got the good news of my approval (the very next day!)
I can't think of anything I could say that I like least about Dr. Bosquez. Honestly he has answered every question me or my husband has thrown at him and has been great from day one thus far! Im not sure how the aftercare part will go, but he has already discussed with me and my husband about the appointments to see him after the surgery and the care needed (vitamins, diet..etc.) He spelled out the risks of the surgery quite clearly and was very honest with his answers about his history witht he surgery. I am pleased with his record and feel confident to go thru with this with his as my surgeon.
Overall I rate Dr Bosquez a 9 out of 10 possible so far. If my surgery goes well and I am happy with the experience then I may have to up that rating!!! :) I find surgical competence AND bedside manner equally important, but since I havent had the surgery yet I will wait to comment on that!

I really like the idea of having my WLS done as a laproscopic procedure. I'm hoping I can have it done this way (I've had three cesarean's - the "bikini cut" kind and my gall bladder removed laproscopically.) I haven't met Dr. B yet, but have emailed Gina a few times and plan to call his office soon. Am just looking into things with them, but really like the idea of them doing lap and that Dr. B is so good with caring for his patients as people. It also makes me feel good to know he's a Christian, as I am and the spiritual aspect of all this is very important to me as well. Plus, having surgery in Tulsa vs. a smaller community eases my husband's fears a LOT. It's his personal prejudice, but that's okay.

I've switched from Katsis to Bosquez because Katsis office staff pretty much sucks in my opinion. I know he is qualified, but I need to have the surgery done as soon as possible, and I feel like no one in his office is listening to me. I've completed everything I needed before surgery, even have an approval letter and they want me to start from square one. Bosquez staff got me in as soon as they could, in a matter of about two days and they seem extremely understanding. Either surgeon would be great I'm sure, but for the sake of not starting over, I'm going with Bosquez. Katsis removed my gallbladder back in 2001. My entire family was extremely impressed with him, and I was too. It was an emergency operation, so I didn't have a previous consultation, however I was told that as soon as my surgery was finished he went into the waiting room, sat down with my entire family and explained my condition. He also checked on me several times during my stay at the hospital. He is young, but I feel confident in his hands. As for the RNY surgery, whoever answered the phone spoke with me like I was five - annoying, but you can't blame Katsis! I would rate him a 10. He had a great bedside manner as well as being brilliant!

Met Dr. Bosquez for the first time today and was very impressed. He was very at ease with meeting people and went out of his way to explain the procedure. He took time to answer all my questions and talked to each one individually.

His staff was friendly and it helps to have a couple of people on staff that have been where we are now and willing to answer questions.

Dr. B is the BEST! I've had several other types of surgery over the years and never had a surgeon who was as caring and compitent as he is. He helped to make a scary part of my life into something a lot more positive. I would, and do, reccomend him highly to anyone needing a bariatric surgeion. His staff is also excellant, very upbeat and encouraging! They have never failed to do anything that I needed, from submitting insurance information to rescheduling appointments when needed - and always with a smile, encouragement, and a good word. Dr. B is lucky to have such wonderful people working with him. I've honestly not had a single negative incident in connection with Dr. B or his staff.
