St Paul Surgeons LTD Bariatric Center

I was very impressed with him, he knew what he's doing and he's had a good success rate.
He answered my questions and my moms too.
He didnt rush me and I felt great about the whole appoinment.
He was professional,clean and neat.
He was fashionably late, but I am a nurse and know how doctors have things that come up and he apologized for being late.
I thought that was really considerate of him.
I have no worries about him doing my surgery.
And I encourage anyone who is looking for a surgeon to see him!

I met Dr. Kelly on December 3rd, 2003. He is a very kind and patient man. He took the time to answer all my questions in depth until I felt comfortable with the answer. He explained that this decision is life altering and helped me to decide which proceedure to pursuit. I feel very confident in him and his staff.

I went to the information meeting in Sept.2002 and had my first meeting with Joyce Dr. Rupps nurse in Oct 2002. I thought they were both very nice people, they seem like they care about what you are going through, and what happens to you. I just wish that the wait for surgery wasn't so long I finally got up the courage to do this and, Well I didn't think the wait would be so long but, I guess you know you have a good Dr. if he is so busy.
Had my meeting with Dr. Kelly he seems like a very nice man,I liked him very much. He explained everything very well and seemed to care about you as a person. He listened well to my questions and answered them, I felt very honestly. It is nice to meet a Dr. that seems to care about you and not just look at you like this fat person that eats to much. I can't wait surgery June 3rd 2003!! I was so excited when they called with my date I think all my neighbors heard me when I hung up the phone!!

Surgeon is very competent, kind and sincere. A little rushed when I saw him the first time before surgery, but at my check-up I knew he really cared. He's a very kind person and treats his patients with kindness and respect. The aftercare program is strongly stressed as a necessity.
Bedside and surgical competence are great. I would recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Kelly and his office have been just wonderful. When I met him at my first postop visit he was really upbeat and enthusiastic about how I was doing. His nurse is really wonderful, too. He and Dr. Rupp have a monthly aftercare meeting for their patients, with different themes and people running them. The first one I went to was very helpful. I look forward to going to more of them. The only complaint I have about the whole surgical experience is that Dr. Kelly and Dr. Rupp both make really long incisions (breastbone to belly button). It's not the end of the world, but some surgeons have much smaller incisions.

DR. RUPP -- Comes highly recommended by my personal physician.
DR. LANA BOUTACOFF (Psychologist) -- I found her to be a pleasant person but to be highly disorganized. Going to her for the MMPI II test set me back 8 months time. If I had this to do over again I personally would avoid her like the PLAGUE!

I met with my surgeon today one on one and he is fabulous. He smiled the whole time and was easy to talk to. He has 20 years of experience and I feel totally comfortable with his ability. I've had to wait a long time to get him, but I feel he is worth the wait. Aftercare is definitely emphasized with his program. I rate him a 10!!!!

Update: 4/10/03. I finally met Dr.Rupp on a one to one visit. I was very impressed with the way he answered all of my questions, and the fact that he was so very easy to talk to. I felt that I had his full attention, and never once felt like he was in a rush to finish with me, and move on to his next patient.
Original Comments:
I have only seen Dr. Rupp during the 1st group meeting that took place nearly a year ago. At that time, I was especially impressed with him and his reputation. Joyce is the main person that I've been workig with from his office thus far, but she really knows her stuff. She's been extremely helpful with answering all of my questions, most of them before I have time to ask. I have been extremely frustrated at the length of wait time there has been (almost a yr now), but I also understand there are a lot of ppl like me who are in need of attention and they are overloaded. I try to be patient for my April meeting with Joyce and Dr. Rupp to take place and more so, for my May surgery date to roll around. I think the think I would tell others is that the wait for surgery can be very frustrating, but Dr. Rupp and his staff make sure everything is done very carefully and compentant. I know that can only benefit me, in that I'd certainly not want a surgeon who rushed through it without making sure all was prepared for correctly.
To me, surgical competence is top priority, but I also feel that bedside manner play an important role in better recovery.

Stephanie @ Dr.Rupp's office is always prompt with calling me back and she is so patient...When she called me for my surgery date she got just as excited as I did! (well not quite because I was jumping up and down but you know what I mean :)
So I finally met Dr. Kelly (Dr. Rupp's Partner) and he was very easy to talk to. I had a list of serious questions and he had no problem with answering any of them. So far I'm completely satisifed and I'm glad he was so relaxed because I was not:)
