St Paul Surgeons LTD Bariatric Center

I had met Dr Kelly two years before I had my weight loss surgery. He removed my gallbladder so I had prior surgical experience with him. Needless to say I'm happy with Dr Kelly. He's friendly and gets straight to the point. He's a very busy man but he makes sure all your questions get answered. Dr Kelly did a great job of going over the benefits and risks of the two surgeries he performs which helped me discern which one was right for me. I would recommend Dr Kelly to anyone seeking weight loss surgery.

Dr. Kelly was friendly, professional and very clear while explaining the procedure to me at my office visit.
His nurse Joyce has tons of info (too much to remember) but is willing to answer questions as they come up along the way.
I will update again after surgery.

1.) I thought he was great, took alot of time to explain procedures to me and very caring.
2.) My impression grew stronger that he was a very capable doctor.
3.) His office staff was great they have been there every step of the way threw all my many questions and concerns...never making me feel rushed. They also go that extra mile to make me feel good.
4.) I had explained that I have a hard time coming out of annesthia..explained to him I was given something in the past to wake me up quicker and he didn't check into what that might have been. Talking to the annesthiologist he said he had never heard of anything..but explained that they would do what they could.
5.) I had encountered problems during hospital stay..he was on top of the problems and took the necessary procedures to correct them right away.
6.)He very much emphasized aftercare, both before and after surgury.
7.) I didn't feel that a structured program was really in place. I went home with many questions...but they were quickly answered by nurse Joyce who was extremely patient and helpful.
8.) He went through them very carefully with me, making sure that I understood them all.
9.) I would give him and 8 out of 10
10.) I think both are very important, I think bedside manner does help a patient to get better quicker.

I have a close friend that works at Dr Rupp's office so I was told from the beginning he is an excellent surgeon. He is a very busy guy and very knowledgable, but seems to lack in bedside manner. He is quick and straight to the point, not much of a person for chit chat. He states the facts and doesn't beat around the bush. The office staff also was slightly difficult to work with at times, but his nurse Joyce is very knowledgeable as well. Dr Rupp and his nurse Joyce seem a little "programmed". I get the feeling they tell the exact same things to every patient. However I would highly recommend both of them to anyone. They know a lot and have been doing thier jobs for over 20 years! They highly highly emphasize the aftercare program. This is where success is learned. Joyce heads a support group that meets once a month after surgery. Shortly after being home from hospital I received a packet of info. re: the aftercare program and how to stay involved and what is expected of me. Overall I would rate Dr Rupp and his office staff a 8.5 out of 10. If they were a little more personable and a little less busy they would have received my vote for a 10! Surgical competence far outweighs bedside manner.

I had a very good impression of Doctor Peter Kelly, he is thourough when explaining any details or questions that you may have.
There was no change of impression over time except maybe that I was more comfortable knowing that he was going to be the one to do my surgery.
His office staff is very friendly, and well educatued about the different types of surgery his office has to offer.
I really don't have any complaints about him at all.
Dr. Kelly has a really good team working for him that sends out pamphlets letting you know about their aftercare program and how they strongly encourage everyone to attend including spouses significant others to come along for support.
I am not shure but I believe his after care program is well structured, however I have not atteneded one yet to early after post-op, next week there is a monthly meeting that I plan to attend to know better about this.
He wrote down on a piece opf paper the actual surgery we decided that I was going to have described everything in detail and what all the risks's/ factors that are involved and what the outcome of each one could potential have.
If you are rating from a 1-10? I would guive him a 8+ to a 9.
Both are great.

Very knowledgable about the procedures.
My Impression did not change over time regardless of the wait (which I know everyone goes through).
Really hard to get a hold of (only because they are REALLY busy).
I have nothing bad to say about Dr. Rupp. My impression of him was that he is a highly qualified surgeon who knows exactly what he is doing.
As far as you future patients... Do your homework and be honest about your goals and how you have prepared.
Keep in mind that emphasis on aftercare in this program is that it is critical to success.
He addresses the risks of surgury more than once.
I would give him a 10 out of 10 so far...

Dr. Rupp is very busy, but was very nice. After meeting him, I felt very confident having him as my surgeon. Everyone in his office is professional and very easy to deal with. The nurses are very knowledgable and helpful.

i thought that he was very professional and thourough and he tells it like it is like it or not.
no,i went back to him.
the office staff is a huge part in getting you the help that you need and keeping it.
dr.rupp is very busy and sometimes it takes awhile to get in to see him.
dr.rupp chooses to do only two of the choices your given for gastric bypass,he believes these are the safest and have the highest success rate.the vbg and the rhueny.
your required to do aftercare plus there are things that need aftercare monitoring.your questions are answered there.
there are specific steps that must be followed to even be considered to be approved for this entire office group to agree that your a good candidate for them.that is part of the structure of the before and aftercare program.
you are given the naked truth about thr risks and the benefits and the possible complications about the surgeries and your lifestyle changes.
i would go back to dr rupp over and over even with the complications that ive had with the vertical banding.id do it all again
everything about st paul surgeons and their program is great.this is my personal feelings on dr rupp and his staff and my experience with them.it may be differant for others
