Sacred Heart Surgical Weight Loss Center Bariatric Center
I've recently attended the Weight Loss Surgery Seminar with Dr. Lord at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. My first impression of him....he is hilarious. He had my husband and I laughing throughout the seminar every time he would say \"jacked up\" in reference to procedures performed by lessor \"reputable\" surgeons.rnrnAnyone who would recommend and go so far as to assist with this type of life-altering procedure for his own mother is the only one I trust with my life in his hands.rnrnI've since met with Dr. Lord for my initial consult. I came completely prepared with medical records as far back as 6 years, psych eval, recent endoscopy results, and office notes for 5 of the 6 visits required with my PCP for insurance purposes. He was very laid back, which I like, and explained everything to me with absolute clarity. I was half done with the process at this first visit. All I needed from there was the bloodwork, EKG and chest x-rays. I also needed the nutrition education class, behavior modification class, one-on-one with the nutritionist, and last, but not least, I had to attend a support group meeting.rnrnEveryone at Dr. Lord's office is very pleasant, extremely helpful, willing to answer as many questions as I have. I couldn't ask for a better surgeon and his staff!
I absolutely love Dr. Lord and his whole staff at Sacred Heart's Institute for Surgical Weightloss. Dr. Lord is in my opinion the best of the best in bariatric surgery. He's very \"as a matter of fact\" and to the point. The program he's helped developed for this thing is amazing and as long as I follow what he's put in place there is no way I can fail. I feel completely at ease with him and trust him completely. He doesn't have that \"God complex\" like a lot of surgeons do, eventhough his last name is Lord! I thnk he has a great sense of humor, extremely intellegent and had met and exceeded my expectations of having this surgery! I am thankful every day that I had Dr. Lord be the surgeon to give me the tool that I know will help save my life. Everyone on his staff has been wonderful and helpful through this whole process. I couldn't imagine having anyone else as my surgeon! I honestly can't say anything bad or negative about my surgeon, his staff or my experience. It's all been great and well worth it!
I liked Dr. Lord from the first seminar I went to. I have a couple of friends who work for him so I knew what to expect and I wasn't let down.rn rnHe is a very thorough Doctor and he's very confident in his abilities to do a good job and frankly I like that attitude in a Doctor who is going to be rerouting my insides. rnrnI found him to be attentive when I had questions and after going through the surgery I can honestly say that I made the best choice in a surgeon.rnrnThank you for giving me my life back Dr. Lord!
My first impression of Dr.Lord is he is confident and he has a passion for what he does. I think first impressions are the ones you will remember overall. The office staff is good Jan and Traci are great.Dr. Lord is a surgeon and he does his job well and that 's what I want. Dr.Lord and his staff provide you with the information you need for overall care and as a reminder of how important it is to use the information.rnDr. Lord is highly rated . Surgical Competence is my choice. I must say I made the right choice for my surgeon . rn Dr. Lord is an excellent surgeon. I f you need WLS check out Dr. Lord.
From the first moment I heard Dr. Lord speak at his weight loss seminar, I knew he was the surgeon who was going to help my husband and I find our way back to a healthy and active life. He has a confidence about him that may frighten some people, but he knows that he has been given the tools to change your life and that was what I needed. After my husband's successful gastric bypass and weight loss journey was over, I began my own journey with the help of Dr. Lord and Sacred Heart's Bariatric department. The process for approval is certainly tedious, but the staff has done a good job of making it as painless as possible. I felt extremely prepared for my surgery both from an educational standpoint as well as emotionally. Everything was customized just for me and my needs. Surgery went very smoothly and the post op period could not have been any better. The Bariatric floor of the hospital is staffed with well educated nurses (many of whom have had bariatric surgery themselves) and the support from the office staff (Tracey, Jan, Ruth, and Shelly) makes you feel like you have your own support group on call. My 1 year anniversary has now come and gone and I have met my personal weight loss and health goals. Dr. Lord and his staff continue to be a significant part of our family and I could not have asked for a better adventure!
I had my RNY peformed by Dr. Lord on 5/12/2008. I could not have asked for a more professional and caring response. From the time I went to his seminar through the current day, Dr. Lord and his staff have been there for me the entire time. I feel like the process that I had to go through and the support that has been available to me could not have been better. Dr. Lord made sure that I was was completely ready for this procedure and provided outstanding support and information throughout the process. I have never felt like he rushed me in any appointments and has responded to my every question and concern. I did a lot of research while coming to terms with this decision, and obviously wanted the best surgeon to handle my case. I talked to many people (including patients of Dr. Lord) and all had extremely positive things to say about him. So he became my choice surgeon and I am VERY glad that he was my surgeon. His pratice has a very through and comprehensive after care program, and his staff has been very responsive to all my needs. I give Dr. Lord my highest recommendation !!
Post-oprnI am so blessed to be in the care of a caring surgeon and staff. You are the best. I have a new birth and look forward to making everyday count. Thank Dr. Lord, staff and nurses in the Unit in Sacred Heart for you devotion to your work and for providing above my expectation of care and concern. God bless you!!!rnrnPre-oprnDr. Lord understands his patients and provides them straight forward information. He shows confidence in what will be done by carefully reviewing the patient's individual situation. He is encouraging and I am blessed to have him do my surgery. rnrnThe staff at Dr. Lord's office have been supportive. The only issue I have had was that my long awaited surgery was moved back a month due to an internal scheduling issue. I had everything ready for scheduling surgery since November, but the number of hospital employees is limited to 3 a month pushing my surgery date to April 1st. Having to move it back an additional month was very painful and disappointing. However, if this is the only problem I have at Dr. Lord's office, I don't have much to complain about.
My surgeon is really Dr Friedman. He is leaving Sacred Heart =( . So to be on the SH OH Forum I had to drop him as my surgeon and change it to Dr Lord. But it's only changed in name. I am still glad I chose Dr Friedman for my surgery. Good luck Dr Friedman where ever you go.rnrnDr. Jeffrey Friedman, personal protege of Dr. Jeffrey Lord, was my surgeon. I couldn't be more pleased.rnrnMy first impression of Dr Friedman was he's young. His selling points were he trained under Dr Lord and he was available quicker than Dr Lord was. I liked the words \"fellowship trained\". As an RN, I like to be fully informed about my physician's credentials. Dr Lord has an excellent track record and I felt that he would not allow just any slug to work in his office. His reputation precedes him and I believe anyone that he brings into the office has to meet his standard. I find that to be something I look for in a physician. My standards were/are met by Dr Lord, et al. Therefore, Dr Friedman met my impossible standards by participating with and training under Dr Lord.rnrnOver time, a few short months to be exact, Dr Friedman grew on me. He has an excellent bedside manner. He appears genuinely interested in the human being in front of him. He was open to my fears and we discussed them at length. Having the surgery was always my decision. I never felt pressured. rnrnDr Friedman's staff is the same as Dr Lord's. The entire staff is wonderful. I never felt like I was being judged on my size. They are very encouraging. rnrnFuture patients should know that Dr Friedman cares about you, the human being. Don't be afraid to ask any question or to say how you are feeling. rnrnAftercare is very important to the Sacred Heart Institute for Surgical Weight Loss. Having your surgery with them means you will have 5 year followups. This was important to me because I didn't want to feel like I was dropped after my surgery. I believe aftercare is only as good as the effort you put into it. If you don't participate then you can't blame the program.rnrnDr Friedman addressed the risks of surgery very matter of factly. He did not beat around the bush. I specifically asked questions while I was reviewing my surgical consent. He never once said oh don't worry about that. He restated the risks and explained what this practice did to minimize the risks. I never once thought these risks were too great to have this surgery. I felt I was making the best informed decision I could possibly make concerning my future health for the rest of my life.rnrnI reviewed Dr Friedman's written credentials. While I agree that anything can be written about someone, the places he chose to do his training were excellent facilities. I felt that he was doing the best training so that he could provide the best possible care to his future patients. Surgical competence, I believe achieved through diligent work ethic, goes hand in hand wih bedside manner. While I do believe you can be a poor physician with great bedside manner, you can't be a great physician with a bad beside manner.rnrnWhile the bottom of this section states \"No person can be the best in all aspects. Completely 100% positive reviews are generally less informative or even suspect\". I disagree. While there might have been a staff member that I didn't particularly like for whatever reason, that never reflected negatively about the practice as a whole. And since I am on the subject, I didn't particularly care for Tracie Sipperly, RD. But that is MY problem and not a problem of the practice. Tracie is VERY knowledgable and cares about each patient. And like I said above, that is MY ISSUE.
Dr. Lord is a really good guy, I have only met him 3 times and 2 of them I was half asleep on a table with cameras poking around, anyway I have a pre-op visit next week and we can get to know each other a bit better.rnThe office staff know what they are all about and I like that they call to remind you about apointments etc. rnAnyone considering WLS should do reseach and tons of it till you are really comfortable with the info.rnAs with all surgeries there are risks and Dr. Lord covered everything that may increase the risk for a not so good outcome.rnAfter my surgery I was visited usually twice everyday by either Dr Lord, or one of his collegues, all very lovely towards me and just as cute as christmas.rnThe nurses and staff were really nice to us and we kept them busy. I tried not to bother them that much.rnIt would seem this man has it all skill and compassion with a really good sense of humor.rnThe only negative thing that happend to me was I never got my popcicle : ( lol
