Dr. Mitchell and his staff are simply amazing. I can not imagine choosing another surgeon and would easily recommend Dr. Mitchell without hesitation.

I researched bariatric surgeons for 1-2 years. I waited six months to go to various seminars and a year to pick my surgery and surgeon. rnDr. Mitchell and his staff are amazing people who make you believe in yourself and your ability to conquer that which has conquered you: your weight! I would not have my surgery with any other surgeon and I recommend Dr. Mitchell because of the following reasons:rnYou are not a number or a new car, you are a personrnYou are his patient for life- and he takes that to heart. Some people may feel that they outgrow the need for follow up however, this is a big surgery. You have to make a long term commitment.rnWonderful bedside manner and competence noted to be among the best in the country... who could ask for more?

They are there to help you every step of the way with a very good program.rnI wanted to have gastric bypass because I thought I would be more successful with it. After my endoscopy, he didn't think it would be good for me since he found a spot on my stomach. He explained extensively why the lap band would benefit me more since this finding could be detrimental to my health in the future with the gastric bypass. After the lapband was done and the second upper gi was done, it confirmed his suspicions and I knew we had made the right decision. I hope this spot does not cause me any problems but if it does, with the lap band it can be taken care of and if I had had the gastric bypass, my life could have very well been in jeopardy.rnI think Dr. Mitchell is excellent in his decision making and as a surgeon.rnSurgical competence is most important; however, with a bedside manner like he has, you get the best of both.

I first learned of Dr. Mitchell by Googling one night and then got linked to this part of the blogosphere. I knew I was going to have a good first visit with him because of the testimonials I read and by talking with friends. In person, his sense of humor, eye contact, handshake, and southern drawl put me immediately at ease. Typically I am suspicious of posts that are overwhelmingly positive, but I feel I have a level, sound, logical, scientific mind about myself, and I truly enjoyed my first office visit with Dr. Mitchell and his staff.

I was impressed by Dr. Mitchell as soon as he introduced himself. He was very kind and understanding. He was very informative and willing to answer any and all questions. He was straightforward and honest. He wants to help those that are obese and is not judgmental at all. He does his best to make sure your health and quality of life improve. He is concerned about safety and success. I totally trust Dr. Mitchell with performing my surgery and helping me for years to come.

WONDERFUL!!!! He is a very kind man. Brett is nice but tells it like it is. Melissa is so sweet. All the office staff are great. Even the hospital and nurses were nice.

Dr Mitchell is wonderful. If you are considering surgery you should look no further you have found the best. There is nothing not to like about him. He is very competent, knowledgable and very thorough. He insist that you ask questions and is just as adament that you feel comfortable in his office as well as in the hospital. I am 6 days out from surgery and couldn't be more pleased. Aftercare is a huge part of my life now, Dr Mitchell and Brett his PA are VERY clear on that but i am looking forward to it. I can't wait for my 2 week checkup appt (even though it is a 2hr drive) just so Dr Mitchell can see what a great job he did and what a good investment of time he made in me.

First impression of Dr Mitchell was he was very knowledgeable about his profession and my disease.He has a great personality and when he talks about obesity you dont get offended but feel totally relaxed.His staff is very knowledgeable if they have one fault its time management but even they know this.He took the time to explaine everything and his bedside manner is a ok.They stress aftercare alot and you feel like after the surgery you wont be all alone with this new tool.I'm glad about having him as my surgeon.

I thought he was nice and quite humorous but yet concerned. I wanted him because of his high recommendation. I also have known quite a bit of people to use him as their doctor and they were happy. I felt very confident with him because of the success rate with his work. I am a little feraful because of the memorial sight on here but yet feel more free since he is my doctor. He puts you throught a lot of test before you are approved and that mean a lot to me. He has aftercare program that will follow you the rest of your life.
