Rocky Mountain Associated Physicians Bariatric Center
My first impression of Dr McKinlay was that he looked so young. He is very well spoken and it is obvious he knows his stuff. After speaking with him one on one he made me feel very confident in his abilities. He seems to be very concerned with the success of his patients and requests a visit once a month even if no fill is needed to touch base and make sure the patients needs are being addressed. I am happy about this. His office is very thourough when addressing the risks and benefits of both Lap Band and RNY. He requires his patients to view a presentation called Emmi that describes everything from pre op to post op about the surgery and what to expect. It is so helpful. I feel his office really cares about it's patients and I feel confident I will do well in his hands. I am impressed with his bedside manner and feel confident about his surgical abilities.

My first impression-I think he might be too young!!!!My impression changed over time as I did a lot of research prior to surgery and he was at the top of the list everywhere i researched. The staff was good once they understood I was a self-pay and was eager to get it done (I was rescheduled a few times, not my fault) I did notice that he was very friendly and salesman like prior to the surgery and after the surgery he turned into doctor mode. Aftercare info was okay, risks were addressed properly. I did have complications but Dr. McKinlay helped me through them the best he could. We didn't know what the problem really was but I was extremely bloated after surgery, couldn't breathe and ran a fever. Today, is 7 days post op and I am finally feeling more like my self. I do recommend Dr. McKinlay as he was very competent and helped me feel at ease. I especially like the staff at St. Marks Hospital, the nurses were especially attentive. I do recommend staying two nights. You just wont have the energy to take care of yourself when you get home

He looks like he just rode in on a horse. Very nice Doctor with a stern type of attitude. He doesn't BS you or beat around the bush. He made sure all of my questions were 100% answered and that I was ready to go mentally before proceeding with the surgery. Follow up appts. have been good and quick.

He was a good surgeon. He has a good bedside manner, and I seem to not have had any problems yet. My only complaint would be that it takes his nurses a long time to call you back, and they seem to not be communicating, so you have to re-tell your problems to different people.

After Dr Korn spoke with my pulminologist they decided I needed to go to the best place based on my steriod history. That is in SLC and Dr McKinlay will be doing it. I have not met him but I am sure he will do fine.Their office staff is very friendly and helpful answering questions. After my surgery I will return home and then Dr Korn will be taking care of me from then on out.rnrnDr Korn (from Boise,ID) was very sensitive and friendly. When he asked why I wanted to have the surgery I of course began to cry. He stopped writing brought me the kleenexes and put his arm around me. He then told me not to worry I am around friends that will take care of me. He answers all of your questions honestly.DId not forget about the others I brought with me to my appointment, Asked if there was any questions they may have.rnWas very informative of the dangers of WLS and what I would have to do the rest of my life. How could this possible be harder or worse than what I am currently going through with my health and weight? My impression of him is he will be very attentive and caring. I recommend him to everyone who will listen.rnI am sorry I don't have anything negative to say but they could get the packet sent off to the insurance a little faster but then again I am anxious to get this done.

He was a very nice man, Very concerned about my health and the issues I was having.rnrnMy impression of Dr.McKinlay has not changed at all.rnrnReceptionist are a little tempermental but his nurses have hearts of gold.rnrnHe is one of the best doctors I have ever been to, he was there to help me through everything and did whatever he could to make me more comfortable.rnrnVery much emphasizes aftercarernrnHe was straight forward about the risks and told me the percentages, but he was experienced I didn't have any worriesrnrnI would give him a 12rn
I just had a revsion done by Dr. Simper. He is an AMAZING and caring surgeon. I highly recommend him to anyone considering bariatric surgery. He and his office staff really go out of their way for their patients.
I went to my orientation with a surgeon in mind. Then I found out they had a new surgeon. Fresh out of his residency and specializes in LAP surgeries. Dr. McKinlay came into the class I was in and shared some information with us and that's when I decided I will have him do my surgery. I have not regreted it at all. He is so supportive and very polite and I know he cares about his patients. I wouldn't change a thing. A lot of peopel before my surgery told me not to have him do it because he was so new, but him being so new is what made me WANT to have him do it. He is up to date on all the new techniques. All docs have to get experience somewhere and I am thrilled that I was ONE of the first for him.
