MultiCare Rockwood Clinic Bariatric Center
I thought Dr. Bright was very concerned about the issues related to obesity, and that he really was motivated to help others. The office Staff were fine, except the woman who scheduled my pre-op tests was a bit of a "cold fish." There wasn't anything about Dr. Bright that I did not like up front, but I have only met him the one time for the initial consultation. He did not speak much about aftercare, but there again, it was only the initial consult. I felt at ease with Dr. Bright, although he is a very thin and small in stature. It is pretty hard to imagine his small frame working on such a large man as I am. He did talk about the surgery risks, although he did not give statistics, and seemed to focus on the technical issues. I would say that I would rate Dr. Bright pretty high. He was very skilled at communicating the fundamentals, and made sure that I understood the difference between the different types and complications of each bypass surgery.
I met with Dr. Bright on Monday. First impression was that he was young. After visiting with him, I felt totally secure in everything he was going to do. He was very considerate and answered any question I had. He really does enjoy his job in making people happy.
Absolutely wonderful ~ Dr. Bright provided me with his undivided attention for over an hour and a half. He was extremely informative. He answered all of my questions and completely put me at ease.
Unfortunately I can't say the same for his staff. Although they weren't ever 'rude', the few times I've called they seemed less than excited to talk to me.
AMAZING!!! Ever met someone and feel like you are the most important person they have spoken to all day. Dr Bright gave his undivied attention to my husband and me. He was very informative and kind. His staff is just as fabulous. Danae with pre-auth was great but she can only move as fast as the insurance company replies. But she is truly fantastic. Margie with scheduling, holy crap crackers, busy gal. Give her a break. Leaving a message will take a long time to recall.
I was very impressed by Dr. Rawlins. He is young, but I immediatly felt comfortable with him. He is friendly, positive, knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and thorough. We met for an hour and 15 minutes and I left feeling very good about my decision and very positive about the experience.
The staff was very friendly and caring, and I never felt anyone was looking down there nose at me for being fat. This is not always true as most of you know. I am having a little trouble with the insurance referral person right now, but feel sure that we can resolve that issue soon.
Dr Rawlins and Dr Bright seem to have a very good program. It includes a 5 year follow up program which kind of surprised me. When I asked him about it he very bluntly told me that they like to keep in touch not only for professional reasons, and follow up care, but because they get to know and like their patients and like to keep up. That made me feel very good.
He explained all the risks of surgery and also all the benefits. As with any surgery there are risks, and I have never had problems before so feel sure I won't this time, but I feel confident that if there are problems, Drs Rawlins and Bright can handle them.
Don't know what his bedside manner is, hope to find out soon, but if it is even half of what his office manner is it will be great.
Have no questions about his surgical competence. I am sure he would not be practicing at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane if he wasn't great.
Dr. Spitz is a very warm and likable person. He is gentle, direct, concerned, and professional. These are all qualities I appreciate. All the people on his team are as warm and professional as he is, so I have a very positive impression of Dr. Spitz and his team.
His office staff is professional and kind.
Aftercare is a given part of the process, and a clear understanding of the process and the patient's responsibilities before and after the surgery is contractually required.
There is a very structured aftercare program, with the dates of return visits specified at the time of scheduling.
So far, I've been very impressed with him and his team.
He clearly delineated all the risks, and my special risk factors.
10/08- Dr Rawlins was wonderful. Very nice, personable, and seems to care about his patients. The office staff was really nice and helpful. I hope they do their job in getting insurance approval. Dr Rawlins went over the procedure step by step and answered most of my questions before I had a chance to answer them. He wants me to meet with their nutritionist for after care, but I will also be enrolled in a weight management program through Group Health (mandatory in order to be approved).
10/20 - Dr Rawlins has really gone out of his way to help me. He personally called me yesterday to let me know that I was denied and that he was going to write an appeal right away. I was approved today! What a guy! DeNae... the Pre-approval QUEEN was just awesome. She answered all my phone calls, was very nice and was tremendously helpful!
11/12 - I went to see Dr Rawlins today after visiting with Chrystal, my nutritionist. (She was a hoot, very funny and informative.) I think that Dr Rawlins and Dr Bright are the only two surgeons in Spokane that have an "after the fact" program. They are really trying hard to pull one together that will pass the standards that Group Health is looking for in a post op weight management program. Anything has to be better than the once a week phone calls that I paid Group Health $725 for. Anyway.. he is soooo sweet, so empathetic to obese people. He answered all of my questions and made me feel totally better about my anxiety. I also met a nurse of his who is planning on having it done after the first of the year and it made me feel really good that after 5 years of working in this area she feels confident of the surgery, its effects, and the low risk compared to being obese. He is truly awesome! OH.. and the other people there are great too. His office staff gets an A+++ for all of their kindness and help!<p>
12/12. Well here I am 2.5 weeks post op and I love Dr. Rawlins. NOT IN LOVE MIND YA! I just love him. He is a dear, sweet man. He has been attentive, caring, sensitive and empathetic to me through this whole process so far and I would highly recommend him to anyone. I would rate him a 10 out of ten. He is competent, emphasizes a great deal of aftercare with his "in office" nutritionist, and his bedside manner is outstanding. His office staff and nurse Connie are very caring, have called me to check up on me, and are completely there for their patients. They have treated me with the utmost dignity and respect and are very encouraging. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about any of them.
Andrew is a great guy. He really enjoys his work. You can see he knows just how much this surgery can benefit his patients and this really comes through in the way he communicates. His has been very willing to spend much time with my wife and myself in our appointments with him..finding out about us/explaining the process and answering our many questions. We have much confidence in his care and abilities. The dietitian from his office has been very helpful and available as well.
I was so very impressed with Dr. Rawlins after our first meeting. He is a very kind person.
Everyone in the office is very kind.
You will be treated as a worthy person, not as just another fat person.
He feels that it is very important.
yes, follows are very important.
We discussed all possible risks, even the risk of not having the surgery.
