I had my first consultation at The Weight Loss Institute of AZ (WLIA)..and anyone who has struggled with their weight knows it can be very stressful talking about it. I walked in and was immediately welcomed and felt comfortable. Their staff was so informative and answered all my questions. I was able to get all the required tests done during this visit and the medical staff was so supportive.
The doctor met with me and asked questions and had me so excited to continue with this weight loss journey, something I hadn't felt in a very long time.
Not one time during my consultation did I ever feel they were judging me, I truly felt they were my support team. The Doctors and staff at WLIA , I honestly believe will change my life!! It's very affordable and only wish I would have called sooner..

Dr. Debarros and his staff have been wonderful. My insurance required quite a bit of work up pre-surgery and the office was wonderful about helping me along the way. Even toward the end when I wasn't sure if my surgery would be scheduled before the end of my coverage both Dr. Debarros and Becky, RN were great about getting me in before my coverage ended. I am so thankful that I found Dr.Debarros and his staff for something this big, they have all answered every question without any pressure and been supportive along the way. I would highly recommend seeing Dr.Debarros and his office if you are considering WLS and have not found a surgeon yet. I have never had regret for one minute about chosing this surgeon and his office. Thank you Dr. Debarros.

Dr. Debarros is great. He treats you like a person and takes his time with you. He is very personable and you don't see that in doctors very often. The office staff is amazing as well. They make you feel like they know you personally and are always quick to return you phone calls. They were amazing at handling my inc. for me as we'll. I highly recommend dr. Debarros and his staff!

I have been going to the Tempe location of WLIA since about February 2012. Through the guidance of Dr.DeBarros and the rest of the staff I have been motivated to take control of my obesity and overall life health. I have been in one form or another overweight since I was a child. I have tried weight watchers, Atkins, south beach etc. They all helped me lose some weight but I would never reach my overall goal. I would lose maybe between 20-30 pounds, which is great for someone who is simply overweight but I was morbidly obese. We had been following the progression and growing success of the lap band procedure for a few years and I was introduced to WLIA by my mother. She was always on the lookout for anything that could help me with my weight loss and had ready nothing but good things about WLIA. After meeting with Dr.DeBarros I felt I had a partner in my weight loss journey. Dr.DeBarros is an expert in bariatric surgery and if that wasn’t enough he is also a lap band patient himself. He has been so helpful with helping me through the beginning of the pre procedure steps all the way to post op management. Only 3 months after my surgery I’m already 35 pounds down and I know through the support of Dr.DeBarros and his elite staff that I will continue my success.

Dr. DeBarros is an excellent surgeon. He cares about his patients and takes time to answer any and all questions you may have about weight loss surgery. Dr. DeBarros is not only a weight loss surgeon, he is also a patient! He has the LAPBAND and was able to tell me exactly what he went through and what to expect. He understands how it feels to go through the surgery and can provide advice on how to stay on track. WLIA also has great nutritionists and staff who help guide you along the way.

he did by surgery in 2005 best doctor i every had lost my weight kept it off never felt better just wish had more up dates with him

He is also a Lap Band patient so he knows what he is talking about and how you feel. His office is immaculate and the staff is very friendly. The only thing I didn't go along with is the use of the Body Bug. I am an older patient and I just can't keep up with the 20-40 year olds in the exercise dept. I will work on my problem areas on my own. Overall I am very pleased with they way they informed me on the risk and what my goals could be. His surgical competence and bedside manner are both great and I would recommend him in a heartbeat.

So far so good. I have met Dr DeBarros once and have my preop visit next. He's very nice and friendly. I like the fact he has had the surgery himself and knows first hand about the information he gives me. The office staff has been really nice and helpful and fast about getting my records together and getting my auth for surgery.

I really loved Dr DeBarros. The whole office was awesome. I liked the fact that I did everything there and did not have to go to a bunch of different places. I did have to wait a bit at one appt but I was told that the doctor had an emergency, so I was not upset. Mike the dietician is the best out there and I know I made the best choice! The aftercare is the best in the state. They really followed up and made sure my needs were met. I love my lapband!! Thanks!rnI have to add that Paul Barros is the only bad thing about the office. BUt don't not use this office because they choose to have a jerk working there.
