I met Dr. Floyd about 1 year ago. I was bitten by a fiddleback and was referred to him by my primary doctor. I really liked him then. I only realized he did bariatric surgery when I was searching Physician in Oklahoma that do WLS. I went to Dr. Floyd's seminar in April and spoke with him briefly, and he actually remembered me and that I lived in Norman. I thought that was kind of neat to have such a good memory. At the time of his seminar he was not using Baptist hospital for this surgery. He said he only uses the Edmond Medical Center. This was not a provider on my insurance at that time, but have since included them.
Everything seems to have fallen in place without any surprises. I am so ready to lose this weight and start feeling better.

I had a very good impression of Dr. Floyd on my first visit. His office staff has been very helpful and communicative. He addressed the risks of surgery since my surgery will be a revision from a VBG to a RNY.

My first impression was a very good knowledgeable, kind and personable Dr. It hasn't changed, only for the better, I think he is wonderful and a great Dr. with a big big heart!
His Staff, they are wonderful, Kenny is great, I mostly have dealt with him. I don't have one single complaint about them, they are all wonderful people who have taken excellent care of me.
Everything is very clear to me regarding after surgery, he answered my questions, patiently listened to me (I have a bit of a speech problem due to my MS).

I think it is mean to "rate" people, but I can tell you he is great great great. an angel God sent to me.

Dr.Floyd was a very understanding and caring docter.Every one of his staff have always been just as caring as him. After six months i have not found anything that i dislike about him or his staff. He and his staff have been very encouraging in my weight loss.We discussed the surgery and he told me all the things that could happen, and supported me in my decision to have it write away.In my oppion he is the best overall docter around.

I met Dr. Floyd at the hospital after he performed RNY on my sister (Michelle Glover). He seemed very nice. I attended his seminar and was furthur impressed with him. His staff was very helpful. They are all very careful to explain everything to you completely. I know he took very good care of my sister (even though Baptist Hosp. didn't) and I have no fears about him being my surgeon.

I didn't really have any impressions to go on when I met Dr. Floyd. I liked his office staff, they are always very nice and helpful when I call them. When I met Dr Floyd, I see now why his patients speak so highly of him. He is quiet and unassuming, makes sure that you know everything he wants you to know, and answers all the questions that you have. He doesn't rush you in and out. He gives you information to read when you get home.

I like the fact that he has you checked out fully before scheduling surgery. Since I have asthma, which is worse seasonally, he referred me to a pulmonologist for a lung check. The pulmonologist referred me for an echocardiogram, and I have to have a doppler on my legs before I can have surgery. I see that Dr Floyd likes to eliminate as many possible side effects and complications as possible.

The fact that he has support groups, and that he is very interested in your aftercare, as well as your preparation for surgery makes this more comfortable for me. Yes, it's serious. Sure, I could die. I could also die of a heart attack if I don't have this surgery. I could be confined to a wheelchair with painful joints in 5 years. I would rather take this risk, with a very competent surgeon who cares, than have a life where I can't be active and can't take care of myself. That, to me, would truly be hell.

Dr. Floyd is one of the best bariatric surgeons in this state. He was very open and frank with me and did a fantastic job on my surgery 11/18/03 had a gall bladder removed and an open rny with no complications. I had a BMI of 52 I think and diabetes type II, sleep apnea, arthritis and high blood pressure. I no longer have high blood pressure and diabetes, my arthritis has not bothered me since the day of surgery and I sleep without my CPAP machine. I am 35 days out of surgery and have lost 47 pounds. I developed a seroma(liquid beneath the incision) and have had a longer time with the healing of the incision as a result. I would rate Dr. Floyd an 11 on a scale of 1-10. He is also one of the few Drs. in the state that will do revision surgeries and this speaks volumes to me. Everytime I have met with him he has been very personable and interested in how I am doing.

My first visit with Dr. Floyd was 29 May 03. My impression of Dr. Floyd was he was very attentive and really listened. No interruptions until I was done talking. I'm always skeptical of Dr's because frankly some don't listen to the patient, nor do they take the time needed with a patient. By the end of our first visit I was throughly convinced Dr. Floyd only wants what's in his patients best interest. He has a very caring air about him, and talks to you on a level that you can understand what he's talking about. He answered every question I had, and I had many. He didn't try to rush our visit because he had other patients waiting. Everyone gets what is needed from him. Dr. Floyd decided I needed to have an Upper GI & scoped to check for ulcers. I had a gastric bypass in 1981, and am having problems due to the bypass. After each test, Dr. Floyd called me personally and we had fairly lengthy conversations on the phone. Again, he took all the time I needed. I decided at that time to wait awhile before scheduling the recommended revision to do some thinking, sole searching and more research. Dr. Floyd totally understood.

I have a referral to see Dr. Floyd, from my pcp. I am looking forward to meeting him. I have heard only good things about him. His office staff has been very helpful and encouraging thus far. I will update again after my seminar on the 3rd.

Sept 4, 2003: I met Dr. Floyd last night at the seminar. I was/am very impressed. He is a very straightforward, all the cards on the table, type person. He answered all the questions everyone had after the seminar and really explains everything in good detail. I feel very comfortable with him as my surgeon. Now if the insurance company will just do their part.

POST OP: Dr Floyd is wonderful! Very considerate, very thourough and very compassionate. He continues to take his time at our appointments,it never feels like he is rushing me out the door. When i had problems post op in hospital with my blood sugars staying high, he was very attentive and really listened to my husband about what was normal and not normal for me at home. He took my husbands info and incorporated that into my after care to help speed my recovery along.
