Penn Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program Bariatric Center
My first impression of Dr.Williams was very professional looking in his atire a little stand offish which he did have alot of people to see, and since I wasn't there to make friends it didn't matter. His staff are very polite. Especially Susan (his assistant)she was very heplful in all areas.I like him very much as a doctor.
Dr. Williams is fantastic. Not to mention has the handsomest green eyes, LOL!!!! He reminds me the Sean Connery of the Medical field.
Anyhow, he is super!!! Great bedside manner. Real patient and knows what he is doing!!!
He is very knowledgable and spelled everything out for me. I was not scared at all!!!
I was thankful to have such an excellent and competent surgeon.
I found him to be very self-confident, compassionate, well spoken and honest. My impression didn't change over time. Dr. Kirkland's staff's has to date been accessible.
I don't think that aftercare has been stressed enough, by this I mean, patient diet and expectation. I do not belong to a structured aftercare program, I don't believe he has one.
The risks of this surgery were addressed honestly during our initial meeting.
My overall rating of Dr. Matthew Kirkland as a competent surgeon with great bedside manner is superior.
DR NOEL WILLIAMS WAS A FABOULOUS DOCTORAND SO WAS HIS STAFF. THE LEAST THING THAT I LIKED WAS THAT I DID NOT GET TO SEE HIM MUCH.I WOULD RECOMEND ANYONE HAVING THIS SURGERY DONE TO GO TO HIM.
2/3/2003-I have an appointment with Dr. Wernsing in Philly at the end of February. I've abandoned all hope of having surgery at BTC. BTC is never going to get "in network status." Irregardless, I'm tired of waiting for them. They were never up front with me. I feel sorry for anyone who goes there for surgery..........I had my appointment with Dr. Wernsing yesterday and I have to say I liked him very much. He seemed very sympathetic and was very up front about the risks of the surgery. I thought he did the surgery laparacopically but it turns out he does it open. I could care less though. I just want to have this done as soon as possible. I'm not that impressed with Dr. Wernsing's office staff though...........I hope they prove my impression wrong.
Dr. Wernsing is very confident. He made me feel very sure of his ability. There was no doubt when I left his office that he was the right doctor. The office staff was light and comfortable. A nice warm feeling as if you had just made a friend. My initial consultation had been canceled once due to an emergency surgery. At least they got me before I drove the whole way there. My next appointment was scheduled and then they called the day before and made it later in the day. The doctor was about a hour and a half behind due to the surgery that was scheduled that morning. He didn't apologize for being late and I am glad he didn't. If I was the one on the operating table I don't want him to feel bad that he stayed and finished the job.
He went over all the risks and the statistics. He covered all the base's. Now I am just waiting for insurance approval, which was the only thing I didn't like. The girl that does the insurance approval let me know she would start on it in a few days and she was not that familiar with my insurance. I got an anxiety attack at this time that I waited so long to get to this appointment and had the patience and understanding of all the delays. I just couldn't understand why the paperwork wouldn't get started that day. I guess I should just learn more patience. So now we wait and see just how many days we wait for it to be submitted and then how long for approval. THE WAIT IS ON, AGAIN!
For those of you that are new and just thinking of finding a surgeon, you might be waiting weeks and months for that first consultation. I went with Dr. Wernsing because he had just moved to the Philadelphia area and his patient list was shorter. I only had to wait seven weeks to get an appointment. Most of the doctors I called it was four months or more.
Dr. Schuricht was quite personable and seemed to care about each patient as a person. He was very complete in his explanation about the surgery, giving the bad and the good.
His office staff are quite nice and very professional.
I really liked Dr. Schuricht. I would have liked one more visit with him before surgery, but he talked to me on the phone when I had a question that the office people couldn't handle.
I'll rate him after I have the surgery this coming Monday, Feb. 10, 2003!
I had my surgery, and I have the highest admiration for Dr. Schuricht! He really does care. He came around to see me in the hospital and his surgical team checked me at least twice a day!
My first impression was hear say from my co-worker, and when I finally got to meet him, he was everything she said, very personal nice, imformative and made me feel safe, he also let me know that this was a health issue not cosmetic, something I alway thought. His staff was very polite, patient and informative. I have not seen him enought to find out what I do not like about him, which is a good thing (smile). If you meet him you will see he is very informal which helps to lighten the professional load a lot. He is not one of those Doctor who's nose is so up in the air they do not know how to come down, trust me I work in healthcare and I have seen quite a few like that.He emphasize aftercare highly and gives you information upto and including 3 months aftercare responsiblities. He explained the risk of surgery as it is in as much as you take care of yourself and follow after surgery instructions. I would definatley rate him high on my list especially since I have contact with hundreds of physician. I feel that both beside manner and surgical competence are extremly important.
