Dr. Schuricht was impressive. His pre-op program is well thought out. It answers just about any question you may have. I found his pre-op requirements such as attending a seminar on the surgery, psychiatry clearance, cardiology clearance and a letter from your family doctor all contribute to you being well informed.

I am amost 6 months after surgery and I have seen the doctor three times to chart my progress and address any problems or concerns I might have.

The office staff always takes notice of your progress and makes you feel they are interested in your well being.

My whole experience with this doctor and the surgery has been positive.

I'm was scared going into initial consult. I'm sooo glad that they have more than 1 person @ the chat so that a question that I forgot to ask might have been brought up by another. Also a question that I didn't even think about would be asked.
I feel that he's extremely unpretentious and versed in his profession. AT NO TIME DID HE MAKE ME FEEL LIKE I SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF MYSELF. Unfortunately, this is not true for all doctors. He's down to earth and his credentials are amazing. His ratio is astonishing . . . less than a percent. Like I said before other doctors have told me that I was too much for their scope of patients to operate on. He explained that he's in this only cause the need and that he's primarily a cancer doctor. He does 1500 surgeries a year and only approx 300 are for WLS. A rival hospital wants him but they want that percentage to flip the other way. I'm so privilegde to be a part of the few that he does operate on.
What I would tell any other person reading and researching WLS is this: The wait to see Dr Kirkland is LONG LONG LONG but it's so so so worth it. If you have any questions feel free to email me. I would rate Dr Kirkland a 9 for now after surgery probably 20. The downside is the wait, minimal contact with them after your consult, and Denise is extremely efficient but hard to get a hold of via phone. But she did all the work to get me approved & for that I rate her a 9 too! *These opinions are mine alone & not of the sites* His credentials are listed here:

When I met Dr. Schuricht I was very nervous and he definately helped me to relax.. Very funny man. Down to earth and real. He was very informative. He answered all my questions without me having to ask them. The office staff was also pleasant. I did realize once I got there that I was supposed to have received a packet of information which I never received. Dr. Schuricht stressed the importance of the aftercare. He said that we both need to work together to get you better!!!! He stressed that we must follow the instructions given. Once I got into the office with him personally my main question was Am I a candidate for the Lap procedure because I really didn't want to have the open surgery. He said I was... which was the answer I was hoping for. I thing that I don't like is that his office staff isn't to organized or at least the ones I have had contact with. I had a hard time trying to schedule a surgery date after I got everything done and I am still having a hard time trying to get in touch with that same person for my pre op exam and procedures.

My first impression of Dr. Williams was I hope you are worth the wait, cause the wait is long! But he is. I loved the beautiful eyes, and accent. Past that, I found him to be very friendly. He did answer my questions and drew out a diagram for me to show me what he was going to do. The office staff is very busy, but very nice. He has a new nurse from the last time I was there. Her name is Patty and she is great. She will answer my questions, and calm my fears. I don't like the wait there, everythime I go there it's atleast 2 hrs to see him. When i asked about the risks of surgery, he was very honest. But he did tell me he has not lost a patient in a very long time, and did not intend to start with me. That made me feel so much better. He is very respected as a great surgeon, and I will trust in him completely. I will just pray that God helps guide his hands. I will do my part after words, I just need DR. Williams to do his.

I had a consult w/ Dr. Wernsing on 9/3/03. He was very down to earth, undestanding, knowledgeable, polite and courteous. My first impression was that he was someone with whom you could sit and talk to as a friend as well as a surgeon. He definitely knows the ins and outs of this surgery and was very informative in telling me the risks of surgery, but also reassured me that should something go wrong he is skilled enough to be able to correct the problem before one really arises. I give Dr. Wernsing on a scale of 1-10, he would get a 20. I'm looking forward to our next meeting.

When I first met Dr. Schuricht I was impressed with his candor regarding this procedure. He was both serious about making sure we understood the risks of what we were doing and that we understood that if we did not do as he said, He would have his size (Ithink it was )12 shoe up our butt. I like the way he talked about the leakage problems. He not only explained that this was a serious complication but what steps he and his staff take to try to avoid this or catch it quickly. That made me feel better. Its one thing to say this can go wrong, but it is another to follow it with what we are going to do to try to avoid it. He was funny at the same time as serious. He made you feel like this was not some guy who would do the surgery and then that would be the end of the relationship. He made you feel that this was going to be a longterm relationship so you better get use to him. I only had one problem with the staff and that was getting a return call regarding what my primary doctor needed for the surgery referrals. I had to get kinda rough at the last minute and demand someone talk to my doctor since he was going on vacation. But all was taken care of immediatly.

I will give more information after my surgery in 3 days

Dr. Alan Shcuricht is very down to earth. For the 4 hours me and my wife spoke with him at the consultation we were very pleased. His staff is awesome. There is someone inparticular his name is Gill, He is one of those guys that goes out of his way for you and make sure that the patient comes first.I have no compliaints about the staff.Dr. Schuricht is the real deal.He will tell you everything you need to know about your sugery. He told me that i'm going to be out of work for at least a month so I have lots of exersising to do.I would rate hime a ten.

I had my first consult with Dr. Williams on July 9th, 2003. I liked him from the start. He gave me the information I needed, and he was very confident that I could have the surgery done LAP just like my daughter. He explained the risks and what he does to prevent them. I was very impressed with his professionalism, although it was very easy to be comfortable around him too. He tells it like it is and that's what I like. He told me surgery would probably be some time in Sept or Oct depending on my insurance and pre-op test results. His office was packed and the wait was long, but I believe it was worth the wait. I'm having my surgery with the best surgeon at one of the best hospitals in Philadelphia...I couldn't ask for anything more.
