Dr. William's is on of the most patient doctor's I am very pleased with my decision with him, he is very direct and informatative at the same time all of my question were answered with no gaps in info.

Dr. Williams gives a great first impression. Soon as he walked into the exam room I knew I wanted him to perform this surgery on me. The office staff prior to my consult leaves a lot to be desired, but I do not hold that against such a good surgeon. In contrast, his assistant Patti Smith is terrific. When dealing with her you must realize she is just as busy or even more so than Dr. Williams. She is always kind and willing to assist but she is hard to get on the phone, patience is very important.

Dr. Williams addressed the risks of surgery and gave me a realistic opinion on what my results should be.

Well I finally got to meet and talk with the surgeon today, he is David Von Ruden out at Lakenau Hospital. My first impression of Dr. V is that he is very knowledgsble about the surgery, and he likes to be attentive to his patients. He made sure I asked all the question I had, and made sure I know about the surgery. He told me to make sure I set up an appoinment with the Bariatric Coord. Beth-Ann so we can get the ball rolling. I found out about Dr. V through someone else he performed the surgery on, she raved how well her surgery went so I wanted to meet him and have him do my surgery.

Met with Dr. Wernsing. Was very factual. Still unsettled on him from a personality standpoint, but my highest priority is competence. Could not get a solid handle on that, but he seems pretty experienced (for the limited time he has been practicing). No mortalities yet... I sure don't wanna be the first! Said he sees stoma restrictions appearing in waves and not sure why. He also sees more of this with laps than open. Again, not sure why.

At this point I'm planning on proceeding with him. Just not patient enough to wait another 9-12 months to see Dr. Kirkland or Noel Williams.

Well I have finally gotten to meet with Dr. Williams. I immediately got the impression that he is caring and takes all the time necessary to describe the surgery and answer any questions. I don't think that I will have any problems, he definitely gave me the impression that I will go through this surgery fine(he actually told me so). It was very comforting.
I think that he is highly qualified and his staff is all very nice. They are all very competent at their jobs.
They all emphasis aftercare, which is soo important. I liked that, that they want you as educated as you can be, then help you through the whole process.
The only thing I think I can say that I didn't like was the 3hrs I had to wait to see him. But I guess if he didn't have soo many people waiting for him, he probably wouldn't be that good of a surgeon. I feel he has a good bedside manner and excellent surgical competence. But I guess I can comment more after I have the surgery.<br>
POST OP- I am so glad I went with Dr. Williams, he is an awesome surgeon and a very nice man. He doesn't let things go to his head, he is very personable. He visited me a couple of times while I was in and his staff visited me daily. I received such great care from everyone at his office and no question was stupid. I can't sing their praises enough. They saved my life. And here i have a clotting disorder, they took very serious and I ended up having to have a filter in and everyone was awesome. I think now after being post op I would give him a rating of 98 (nobody is perfect...lol).

My first impression of Dr. Williams was a good one, which first impressions are always the best.

I was very comfortable with Dr. Williams & his staff, which is also a major plus. Patty & the others are the best. They all made me feel like I was one of the family.

I tell everyone about my surgery (when the topic comes up of how I lost my weight) I highly recommend to them Dr. Williams for surgery because he does everything the way it should be done.. the right way the first time.

The aftercare was also good, had nurses & therapist come visit me for the first 2 weeks to make sure I was getting around, to make sure I was cleaning my JP tube the right away & there was no infections in the surgery areas.

I have nothing but the utmost of respect for Dr. Kirkland. He is a no-nonsense, right to the point kind of guy who is EXTREMELY skilled at his profession. I had absolutely no complications, and I know I owe it to his dedication and skill. His office staff is second to none--they handled everything for me and secured my insurance approval in a matter of days. If you like doctors who linger by your bedside and baby you through the whole process, then Dr. Kirkland probably isn't for you--he is a very busy man and doesn't have much of a "bedside manner", so to speak. My attitude toward this is who cares as long as he knows what he's doing--which he most certainly does. The absolute best thing I can say about this man is this--you can trust him with your life. Or should I say you can trust him to GIVE you a life.

My first impression of him was that he is down to earth. He told me everything that I needed to know during the consultation. He scheduled my surgery quickly, because I had everything except two items that I needed. Those items were easily accessible. He is funny, informative, and the best surgeon in PHILADELPHIA!

I filled this out after I first met him but it disappeared (and I have a poor memory) but.....
Overall, I have been very happy with Dr. Schuricht. He is very personable and patient. Gil in his office is the best, no one else comes to mind. He seems to be good with the after care, but I'm only 2 1/2 weeks post-op so I can't speak too much on that. I would rate him pretty high, but not necessarily Pennsylvania Hospital (they would rate lower on knowledge, organization and communication amongst its staff).
