Dr Marshall is a very busy surgeon. It took me months after my insurance approved my surgery before he could work me into his schedule. I have had two short office calls with him and he is quite matter of fact but also has a sense of humor. Peoria Surgical Group has many requirements for educating the patient prior to surgery. After care is extremely important and they are there to answer any questions.

Dr. Marshall discussed the risks of surgery and I am going into this knowing the risks.

I would rate surgical competence first and beside manner next.

Dr. Marshall was not at all what I expected when I first met him. I figured like most surgeons, he would be very quick and to the point. Dr. Marshall took about a half and hour and explained the procedure in great detail. Melinda Lange is wonderful. I feel very comfortable talking to her. On future visits he has been more quick and to the point, but I have not had any complications. Everything has went very well. He is a very competent surgeon. I highly recommend him. I had a lap RNY on 7/1/02

I am confident in Dr. Marshalls experience and abilities. His nurse assistant has extensive knowledge and has been accessible whenever I have called with questions. The Peoria Surgical Group has an education process and weekly support groups available (1xmonth encouraged).

I FINALLY MET WITH DR.MARSHALL TODAY. I WAS VERY NERVOUS ABOUT IT AFTER READING OTHER PEOPLES COMMENTS ABOUT HIM.EVERYTHING THAT YOU ALL SAID IS TRUE.I FELT LIKE I WAS IN SCHOOL AGAIN,HE EXPLAINED SOME THINGS TO ME AND THEN 'THE QUESTIONS'.I THOUGHT THAT I WAS GOING TO BREAK OUT INTO A SWEAT OR SOMETHING BUT I GUESS I REALLY OVERREACTED. HE WAS JUST MAKING SURE THAT I WAS REALLY AWARE OF WHAT I WAS GETTING INTO. HE WAS STRAIGHT FORWARD AND TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT HE SAID THAT I WAS A CANDIDATE FOR THE SURGERY AND HE WILL GET A LETTER TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY.QUITE PROFESSIONAL I MUST SAY.I EVEN FOUND OUT THAT THEY HAVE RAISED THE BMI LIMIT AND I MAY BE ABLE TO HAVE LAP.
THE OFFICE STAFF WAS NICE,IT TOOK A WHILE FOR THEM TO FINALLY CALL ME BACK BUT THE WAITING ROOM WAS FULL.
MELINDA,I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH NICE THINGS ABOUT HER. SHE HAD ONLY SEEN ME ONE TIME IN HER LIFE AND THAT WAS AT A PACKED EDUCATION CLASS/SUPPORT GROUP AND SHE RECOGNIZED ME TODAY.THAT ALWAYS FEELS GOOD TO LEAVE A LASTING IMPRESSION ON SOMEBODY:)ANYWAY,SHE IS SOOOO SWEET AND I TRULY BELIEVE THAT SHE ANSWERED HER CALLING.SO MY OVERALL OPINION OF MY VISIT WAS GOOD, I REALLY FEEL CONFIDENT IN MY CHOICE AND MY PCP'S CHOICE.

Dr. Marshall is a wonderful surgeon, and his staff are very helpful. I would like to thank Melinda for all her help. The hospital OSF St. Francis in Peoria IL is the best hospital I have ever been in in my life. The nurses on the 4th floor surgery unit are wonderful. Lauren and Tamika took such great care of me that I didn't relly mind being in the hospital. I would recommend Dr. Marshall and OSF to anyone who is going to have any surgery.

I liked Dr Marshall. He is very straight forward and makes sure you know exactly what you are getting yourself into. He also makes sure that you know that the pouch is a tool, and that you must use it properly or you can end up regaining weight. He was very nice and made sure that my husband and I had no questions before the end of the consult. All of his office staff was very nice. They've taken care of all the insurance billing.
The only off thing I can say is that he did seem busy, but I think that's just his profession.

My first impression of Dr. Marshall? I found him to be very professional and very open about my concerns with the risks involved. I was very reluctant to have this surgery and he neither tried to talk me into it or talk me out of it. He explained everything in great detail and I feel much better about persuing this surgery. His office staff was very nice and helpful and was very well prepared. I got right in and everyone took all the time needed to answer all of my questions. The program is very structured and I really like Melinda and all of her help.

My first impression of Dr. Marshall was "typical surgeon". I have worked in the healthcare field for years and most people in the field know surgeons are at their best when their patient are under anesthesia. In other words no bedside manner. I can say that after 10 months of follow up care with Dr. Marshall I have been very impressed with his care and feel like he really does care about my long term health and success. The staff at the office is great. I really can't say enough great things about them. Dr. Marshall is very concerned about long term success and his office has developed a whole program that includes pre and post op support groups, nurses, pharmacists, nutritionist, etc. Overall I have been very impressed with Dr. Marshall and would highly recommend him to anyone. Dr. Marshall has come a long way in the "bed side manner" department but he is a surgeon and I thinks thats is where he is at his best and thats how it should be.
