Dr. Marshall seems to be very honest and intelligent. He comes very highly recommended!

My first impression of Dr. Marshall is that he is very cocky. The office staff for the most part were okay, wouldn't say they went out of their way in any way to assist me the insurance problem I was having. I liked least about Dr. Marshall is better than though attitude, thinking that he is the greatest. Said he wanted to do the laproscopic surgery so that I could get back to work at the hospital faster so I could make more money for the sisters. Dr. Marshall never said one thing at all about aftercare. He did mention/list the risks of surgery. He did ask if I had any questions, although I did feel he was in a rush to hurry and finish up with me. As for bedside manner at this point I think Dr. Marshall's sucks. I am seeing him only because of what I have heard is his skill and surgical competence. These of course are just my feelings and what I experienced today in his office. Perhaps things will go better with the next visit. I may have been off myself do to being upset about my PCP office messing up on getting the referal which in no way is a reflection of Dr. Marshall.

He was awesome enough to take me at the last minute~his partner, my orginal surgeon cancelled day before surgery! Good surgeon~Nice!

My first impression of Dr. Marshall was that he is a busy doctor but he does care and he does believe in the value of WLS. The office staff is nice, also quite busy. Melinda, the bariatric program coordinator and an R.N., is very kind and very helpful. You can tell that the doctors all trust her to take care of the details with the WLS patients. She does it well. I suppose the thing I liked the least about the doctor is simply that he IS so busy and has to keep things brief. However I feel confident that if I were troubled or had a question, he would be more than willing and able to help. Aftercare is a MAJOR emphasis with Peoria Surgical Group's bariatric program. Risks are laid out for you without scaring the daylights out of you. I'll have to reserve my comments on bedside manner, competence, etc. until after surgery. Although I have heard nothing but good things about Dr. Marshall's competence! 7/9/02 - I am 6 days post-op and feeling pretty good. I can sum up my feelings about Dr. Marshall with this: I have the utmost respect for him :) Those of you waiting for a date or an appointment, be patient and be nice to the staff! The Peoria program is VERY BUSY but worth any waiting.

When I met with Dr. Marshall back in July, I found him to be very much to the point. Some may not like this approach, but it's perfect for me. He was straightforward and thorough. He told me it wasn't an easy process; it would be a full life change.

The program coordinator, Melinda is also very kind. She knows what she's talking about and is a great source of knowledge. She participated in my appeal in front of the dreaded Cigna committee. We didn't meet with success, but she said she'd be there and she was. That has to count for something.

I have exhausted all my appeals currently with my insurance company, but have two left with the Central Management Services as I am an employee of the State of Illinois.

The only negative I can think of is that I would have liked a little more help from the surgeon's office with my appeals.

I had lost almost 200 pounds, but during one of the "sick moments", I strained, and busted some staples loose. In the past 2 years, I have only gained about 50 back. Now, I'm in the process on trying to find a doctor who will either repair, revise, or re-do the RNY. Dr. Marshall refused to even see me. He sweeps patients like me under a rug. If anyone knows of a doctor in the Central Illinois area, who WILL help me, please let me know. I have the films from my most recent upper GI, done in May of this year. And can get other blood work-up or required testing done by my local doctor who has been a wonderful help to me during this time. So, again, ANYONE WHO CAN HELP ME, PLEASE DO! Thank you.

My first impression of Dr. Marshall, he Knows what he is doing and enjoys helping those that come to him. My visit with him was very quick and to the point. But he didn't make me uncomfortable or uneasy about any part of the discussion. Nor did he make me feel stupid in any way.
His office staff is Great. Melinda is the Best! She's so easy going and puts any fears to rest asap. Future patients should know that they are in good hands with the Peoria Surgical team. After care is a Big point there. Very big. And that's Very Important!
Dr. Marshall was up front and to the point about the risks of this surgery which I really liked. He's a no bull kind of Dr. Overall I would rate Dr. Marshall, Melinda and the office staff as A-1. They were all very nice.
I would also recomend him to anyone. I know I've only met with him once, I am very confident that he's the surgeon I should have for this procedure.

Professional, knows his business.

He's a man of few words and can come across as a little abrupt.

He made 100% sure I was aware of the risks of this surgery.

His receptionists can be nearly rude until you are in the program, then they are fine.

They have a structured after care program that is very good. The coordinator of this program is excellent.

I had every confidence in Dr. Marshall and would reccomend him to others.

I did discover from others, and my 6 week visit, he's a 'food Nazi'. Firmly believes in 3 meals a day. No snacks, ever, ever. I got a lecture on grazing even though I don't snack between meals as it is. I'm sure he wants the best for his patients, but his views can be pretty narrow and don't account that 'everyone is different', as I've been told a million times. That's his style, just something to be aware of if you offend easily.

WOW>...was I shocked...I was so nervous at first..Almost scared...He was very formal and out-spoken...But cool...I am very pleased with him, I think he was to the point on everything I asked...
His surgical competence seems to be great...Bedside manner, don't know yet...I expect very stern...That is good for me

I first called for an initial consultation with Dr. Margaret Inman in Indianapolis on 8-26-01. The appointment is scheduled for 11-12-01. Still waiting for that day to come.

I was really interested in having the laproscopic procedure done because of the speed of recovery, so I made an appointment with Dr. Jeffrey Rosen in Downer's Grove, IL.

I got right in with Dr. Rosen and that was great. The appointment was 5 hours long, but really didn't seem that bad. One person would come in, do their thing then I'd wait a few minutes and the next one came in.

5-26-03
Well, lots has happened since August of 2001. My insurance denied the surgery due to an exclusion in the policy. So I appealed and that appeal was denied.

Now, as of 5-15-03 I have an APPROVAL for my surgery (not through my initial insurance co though). Also I will be seeing Dr. Stephen Marshall of Peoria, Illinois. Now I just have to wait for the surgeon's office to get me scheduled. I'm hoping that I will have my surgery by August of 2003, then it will only be two entire years of waiting and games. Ugh!
