The choice to persue Gastric-Bypass was the best gift I ever gave myself. Choosing Dr. Chung as my surgeon was the 2nd best thing. Having never had any kind of surgery, I was extremely apprehensive. After my first meeting with Dr. Chung and Marcie, I was 100% sure he'd be my surgeon. I felt he went above and beyond to reassure me that he took my surgery as seriously as I and my husband did. I had complete confidence in his ability and compentency. I would recommend him to anyone.

This surgery made me like myself. That's a wonderful feeling that I haven't had in a very long time. I did the gastric bypass for me so I could be around for my family and grandchildren. Just to live a healthier life without anymore struggles.
Hi my name is Sue. I'm 47 years old and had the surgery on October 20,2003. I was over 300 lbs. and I have lost 120 lbs. in 11 months. This is the greatest thing that could have happened to me. If there were more doctors like Dr. Chung 10 years ago my mother and sister would be living today from their obesity.
Dr. Chung and Marcie are not just your physician and nurse, they are your friends and when you go through obesity it's important to have friends that understand and listen to what you are going through. No matter what I say or anyone else may say, you have to make sure you want this surgery for yourself.

I have previously worked in the medical field for 13 years. I can honestly say that Dr. Chung is the GREATEST doctor I have ever met. His personality is wonderful. You can't ask for anyone to be any nicer. That goes the same for his staff. They are great! I've called on weekends and late at night but no matter what time of day Marcie is always nice and there to answer my questions. You would think that a doctor that has such a wonderful bedside manner would be lacking in surgical competence but let me tell you if anything he is above and beyond the best surgeon. I was very confident about having this surgery before I ever went to his office. Once I had my first appointment any fears I had were put to rest. It has been a little over four months since I've had surgery. I have not had the first problem. I would do it all over again tomorrow. This has been a new lease on life for me. I weighed 296 at my Post-op visit and as of today I weigh around 220. My dress size in April was 26/28 and today my clothes are 18/20. That's not bad for 4 months!!!! I feel like a new person, physically and emotionally. I have sent many people to Dr. Chung for this surgery. I can't imagine having it done by anyone else. Dr. Chung and Marcie are the BEST!!

Dr. Chung upon first impression was very knowledgable, friendly, honest and reassuring and that never changed. His assistant, Marcie, well what can I say about Marcie that is actually sufficient to describe her caring deeds, sincerity, friendliness, honesty and professionalism? Not enough! She is the best bariatric surgeon assistant in the world and the type of person that you feel you can put your faith into, call any time and count on for a welcoming beautiful smile. The entire staff is awesome and very professional. Trust that you are in great hands with Dr. Chung and Marcie. I was visited by Dr. Chung on the weekend and during the week at very late hours (10PM) just so he could see how I was doing and I have always asked, does this doc ever sleep? lol. The staff and doc Chung will exlplain all you ever wanted to know and be very honest about it. I rate Dr. chung and Marcie a 100 out of 10! His surgical competence and bedside manner are top notch and I would recommend him to anyone. Marcie is an angel and I really mean that.

Dr. Chung is a super surgeon. He is a very serious person and tells it like it is. He informs you about the risks of surgery and makes sure you understand that there are risks. He explained the different types of procedures and what exactly he would be doing. He was very attentive before and after surgery. I have had no problems and have been given a gift of renewed health. He cares, and to me, that is what really counts. Your in good hands with Dr. Chung and his staff. He stresses the after care and makes sure you know it is important to him. He leads the discussions and answers all our questions every month at our support meetings where we share new information. We have had a group Cruise and Crawfish Boil and were both loads of fun. I would rank him as tops in his field. They don't make them any better. I remember asking Dr. Chung if in some round about way, is the surgery could improve my memory and he said, "I'M NOT JESUS!"
His nurse Marcie is great. She and Dr. Chung were worried about my two pets ( Maria and Mags) because my cat sleeps on my stomach and my border collie has a habit of hitting me in the stomach with his ball. They sent me flowers and a card to remind me to keep Maria and Mags at bay.
There is someone qualified to answer your questions twenty-four hours a day seven days a week! His surgical staff is very helpful and friendly and of course professional. He has performed hundreds of operations, so he has the experience to make the surgery as smooth as possible for the patient. He is also friendly and caring. I would recommend Dr. Chung to anyone looking into having weight loss surgery.

He was very nice and he explaned everything that he was going to do very well. The only change I have for Dr. Chung is for the better, he is always there for you when he is needed. He cared so much what happens to you. His office staff is very nice and caring also, they are always there for you also. When I was in the hospital they came to see after surgery, no other staff has done that to me. There was nothing that I did not like about Dr. Chung or his staff. Dr. Chung took all the precautions that he could. About 2-3 years ago I had a superficial blood cot, he had a green filter put in my artery before surgery. The other Dr was just ready to do my surgery. That Dr. Chung is the greatest Dr. that I ever had. He gives you a diet to follow step by step. If you have any questions about anything, even after hours you can call and they are there for you. He explains everthing from A-Z. If you don't understand he will go over it over and over again. after months of researching gastric bypass,(something everyone should do), i decided i had yo-yo dieted long enough. i had just run out of "string". when i met dr. chung and marcie for the first time, i knew i was in the right place. they work so well together, and displayed such a genuine concern for me, i new immediately this was the place for me. dr. chung and marcie are so dedicated to their work and their patients, they are both at every support group meeting, mingling with the patients, asking questions and just visiting with everyone. he always has interesting topics and information he shares with us. much like sitting and visiting with a "friend". as a surgeon, i would recommend him to everyone. he loves to laugh and joke with his patients, but when it comes down to discussing weightloss surgeries, all jokes aside, it's all serious business with him, leaving no question unanswered. his office is set up different than i have ever seen. you can call his office anytime, 24 hrs. a day, and you will talk to a REAL person! and if you're call has to be returned, you'll get it in minutes. his aftercare program is just as important to him as before surgery. he goes into great detail about it, just as he does about all the risks involved with the surgery. i have lost 130 pounds, and thank dr. chung for the surgery of course, but also for all the encouragement before and after my surgery. it has been over a year, and i find he is just as interested in me as a patient today, as he was the first day i walked into his office. between dr. chung's surgical competence, and his bedside manner, i would have to say he is by far the BEST choice for weightloss surgery!

Dr. Chung is soft-spoken, well informed, and very professional. He is always available for consultations. Marcie and the office staff are wonderful. Marcie is on call 24/7 and is very dedicated. It has been 1 year since I had the RNY gastric bypass. I have had no complications from the surgery. When I slip up on my eating, they put me back on track. From 1-10, with 10 being the highest, I would give Dr. Chung and his staff a 10. They even gave a personal touch by sending me flowers in the hospital. This team goes above and beyond and anyone would be blessed to benefit from Dr. Chung's surgical expertise.
