North Shore Surgical Specialists Bariatric Center
This is a no nonsense guy! Sharp, on top of everything. Yvonne is his gal Friday. She is wonderful, almost beyond words! Friendly, efficient, did all of the work with the insurance carrier (GHI) and with the hospital (North Shore)...by the way I live in Tucson, Arizona, and came here for the Doctor with the best reputation and a staff (especially Yvonne) that takes all of the burden off the patient, allowing you to focus on the surgery, and prepare without worrying about the details!
BTW - my open RNY is scheduled for 10/16/2002!

My first impression was that he was a cold but good surgeon. I was wrong... Dr G is probably the most warm and caring Dr I have ever met. And I was wrong again .. He's not a good surgeon... He's a great surgeon..The office staff is also friendly and caring. Future patients should know that they are in great hands with this man.. He cares about his patients before and after surgery. He even holds pre and postop group support meetings in his office.. He also makes sure that you understand all the things that you will go through. He does not take this lightly. You have to be sure that you understand. This is a life commitment. There are risks. In my case the risks of staying over 400 lbs was far outweighing the risks of surgery. Dr G is top notch. ask any of his patients. Surgical skill and bedside manner are great.. Thanks Doc ok ok ok you want a negative comment?? I am 18 months postop and I still can't eat an Outback steak....
My first impression of Dr Gellman was relief.. I was so tired of being intimidated by doctors looking at me like I was some object that was out of control. I sually start my visits by apologizing that they haveto treat me. Dr Gellman was so pleasant I felt very comfortable with him he took his time and was willing to answer any question I had for him.
Dr Gadaleta was very professional and bottom line, almost cold. He has since saved my life and I have the utmost respect for the man. Risks of the surgery were simply stated as they are real and they do happen and you'll get through them. His bedside manner and sugical competence were excellent.
Yvonne his coordinator handled all insurance requests and was the go between with doctor and patient, she was excellent.
Aftercare was done by Emily the nutritionist, who gives you a strict diet regimen which will be the success of your surgery. Also there are support group meetings to help post and pre operative patients. There are also guset speakers that come in to answer any questions.
I FOUND DR. GADALETA VERY PROFESSIONAL. HE DOES NEED A LITTLE HELP WITH HIS BED SIDE MANNER. BUT, HE IS VERY CONCERNED ABOUT YOUR PRESENT HEALTH. HE DID NOT SUGAR COAT ANYTHING (I GUESS HE WAS GETTING ME READY FOR THE SUGAR WITHDRAWALS). I'M VERY CONFIDENT HE KNOWS HIS BUSINESS AND NORTHSHORE IS A VERY GOOD HOSP. AND I'M HAPPY WITH THE FACT HE DOES THE SURGERY THEIR, (YOU JUST HAVE TO REMEMBER THAT NURSES ARE BETTER STAFFED IN THE DAY. SO DO ASK YOUR QUESTIONS THEN.) I'M DOING THIS TO SAVE MY LIFE AND I HAVE ONE BIG AND TWO SMALL BOYS WHO LOVE ME. IT'S IMPORTANT TO FEEL SAFE. SO FAR DOCTOR GADALETA AND HIS WONDERFUL STAFF HAVE MADE ME FEEL THAT WAY. AND IF HE GETS TO COLD I'LL JUST TELL HIM TO WARM IT UP...
Dr. Gadaleta is a wonderful doctor. He was very professional and very honest at the time of my consult with him. He obviously takes his job seriously and cares about his patients. Yvonne, the Baraitric Coordinator, was wonderful. She too is very honest and pleasant. Both took the time to answer any questions I had and made sure that I knew they were available should I need them after the appointment. I feel very positive about my experience with them and feel confident in my PCP's recommendation to Dr. Gadaleta.
Both Yvonne and Dr. Gadaleta stress the importance of aftercare, they both discuss and stress the importance of the support group that is provided in their building. As a matter of fact one of the pre surgical condiitions is that you contact someone from the support group list and that you attend at least one support group session prior to the date of the surgery. His relationship with the Nutritionalist and the Mental Health Professional was very impressive. All of the staff conducting any testing prior to the surgey are very well aware and knowledgable about the procedure and the risks.
I have had to contact Dr. Gadaleta's office on numerous occassions to confirm that all of the test results were submitted to his office. Carol has been great as well. It is nice to know that you can call that office and your needs are attended to.
Three months of being post-op I can honestly recommend Dr. Gadaletta. as a matter of fact my mother is going to see him regarding the surgery.
I appreciate everything about this wonderful doctor/man. He truely cares about his patients and their well-being. He does not commercialize the procedure nor the benefits.
Dr. Gadaletta is a wonderful doctor - he saved my life!
THIS DOCTOR IS A GREAT MAN. nORMALLY DOCTORS ARE VERY DISTANT AND COLD. dOCTOR GADALETA IS VERY APPROACHABLE AND WARM. tHE STAFF ARE ALL WONDERFUL AND I COULDN'T ASK FOR A BETTER MAN TO DO MY SURGERY. ALL THE DOCTORS ARE JUST AS WONDERFUL. AFTER A HERNIA COMPLACATION I MET ANOTHER ASSOCIATE AND HE WAS JUST AS WONDERFUL. I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM AND ALL HIS ASSOCIATES FOR MY OWN FAMILY AND FRIENDS. YVONNE THE SURGICAL CORIDENATOR IS JUST A HUGE COMFORT TO ME AND IS ALWAYS AVAILABLE TO LISTEN AND HELP.
VERY THROUGH,HOLDS NO PUNCHES.HE COMES OFF VERY PROFESSIONAL WITH A COLD ATTITUDE.BUT I BELIEVE HES THAT WAS BECAUSE HE WANTS YOU TO MAKE YOUR DECISION KNOWING ALL THE RISKS. THE CORDINATOR IS VERY PLEASANT BUT TO THE POINT. I'VE ONLY BEEN IN THE OFFICE 3 TIMES. ILL FILL THIS IN MORE AFTER MY SURGERY AND I'VE VISITED THERE MORE OFTEN
I just met with Dr. Gadaleta for my first visit regarding LAP RNY February 18th 2002. I went into the visit having read what others had to say about him on this sight and would agree with the general consensus that he is very straight forward, extremely knowledgeable in the bariartic field and very matter of fact. I noticed some entries stating that his bedside manner is lacking but, I believe this is a serious surgery and his manner reflects that. His assistant Yvonne was very friendly and informative. I was impressed with the amount of RNY's he has performed over 350 however,I am requesting the LAP RNY and he has performed less than 50 of those. He went over all of the risks involved in both the open and the LAP and agreed I would be a good candidate for the LAP. I will complete all of my pre-surgical testing by February 16th and hope to schedule a surgery date for April. I don't foresee any problems with my insurance approval for the surgery but, a few of the DR's I have to see Pre-OP do not accept insurance so I will have some out of pocket expense. I have every confidence in Dr. Gadaleta and his staff and can not wait to begin a new healthy life with their assistance!
