North Shore Surgical Specialists Bariatric Center
I liked him at first impression. He was straight forward and knowlegable. The procedure went well and I had little pain. A complication came after surgery and it had nothing to do with the procedure. Dr Gadaleta was there for me when I needed him. He even postponed a day off to check on my condition. I highly recommend him if you live in the NYC area.I look forward to the new path I am entering. There is careful monitoring of me after the surgery. Contact me if you have any questions.
My first impression of Dr. Gellman was a positive one. I found him to be a very caring person. I was very confident that I was in good hands. Over time my impression of him did not change. I was in good hands! I found his office staff to be very efficient and met my needs as needed. There was nothing I disliked about him. Any future patients should know that they have a very good doctor, who cares for the well-being of his patients. Having the surgery is the first step and Dr.Gellman emphasizes continuing care and encourages attendance at his aftercare meetings once a month.Dr. Gelman, spelled out all the risks of surgery at our first meeting. He made sure I was aware of the problems that may arise. I would rate Dr. Gelman as a very competent doctor, who cares for his patients. The best attributes are both a surgically competent doctor with a good bedside manner, but If I had to choose one, I would choose a surgically competent doctor. Of course Dr. Gellman is both.
My first impression of him was that he was very professional. My impression stills reamins the same.Since this office is so very busy, his office staff, have limited time to spend with each patient. You may have to call back a few times to have all your questions answered but they will get answered.
His emphasis on aftercare is very strict. He wants to make sure that you are as serious as he is.He will assist you in finding a doctor if you relocate to another city/state.His future patients should know that they will be in good hands but must have patience when dealing with his staff. Although he did cover all of the risks of the surgery, it is YOUR job to fully research and make that final decision. My opinion is surgical competence and bedside manner MUST work hand in hand in order for a medical professional to be given a great rating overall.
I have absolutely nothing negative to say about Dr. Gellman - he made a great first impression!!! I was informed by his assistant before I spoke with him that my insurance doesn't cover the procedure I want. He was warm, understanding, sincere and sympathetic. He made me feel like I could turn this negative into a positive if I truly wanted to! He advised me that I was a perfect candidate for WLS. On a scale of 1-10 - Dr. Gellman is an 15!
Dr. Gadaleta was all business at my initial appointment. I was hoping he was friendly but he was all business he explained everything to me his opinion on the type of surgery I should have and his reasons why he recommended open surgery for me. My next appointment is on March 27th I'll what he says then. The person who recommended him to me say's once you have the surgery he is like your best friend. Kind and caring. I'll let you know. Dr. Gadaleta strongly recommends aftercare and has support groups in his office every month.
Dr. Gadaleta saved my life! Yeah I read stuff about his bedside mannor, but I don't see what people are talking about. I think he is truly understanding about morbidly obease people, and cares enough to explain in detail the pros-and cons. I think If you are lucky enough to have Dr. Gadaleta perform your surgery you will be as grateful as I am. Yvonne is also wonderful she takeS care of everything that leads up to the actual date. This my friends is a winning team, you are sure to succeed with the help of Dr. Gadaleta, and Yvonne.
My first appointment with Dr. Gellman was 4/14/03. His assistant, Yvonne, is very knowledgable. She knows everything about preparing for this surgery. Dr. Gellman was very nice and answered all my questions. My second appointment with Dr. Gellman is 9/22/03, at which time I'm sure he will go into greater detail on the procedure.
As of today, 7/31/03, I have completed the all of the tests required for surgery, except a stress test. Am going to attend the support group meeting on 8/4/03.
I had met Dr. Gellman a few months ago. I was referred to him by my Gastroenterologist. Dr. Gellman was very warm and kind on my consultation appointment. He explained the different procedures to me and we discussed which one would work best for me ( open RNY).We went over the risks of the different procedures & he explained to me about all of the testing I would need to have in order to have this surgery done. We also discussed the fact that I knew that his brother is Rabbi Gellman from the God Squad TV show on Cablevision. He found it very amusing that I found this out on the internet. For anyone trying to find a surgeon Dr. Gellman seems to have an excellent reputation and he did come highly recommended. I am nervous about the the surgery as I'm sure everyone is but I know that I will be in great hands. His staff seems pretty nice too. Yvonne is extremely well versed in Bariatric surgery and answered all of my questions even before I met with the doctor. Carol is wonderful and was a big help in getting me my date. I am looking forward to the end result. Will keep you updated as we get closer.
He is a surgeon so I expected him to clear and to the point. He was exactly that, but over all, he is a real wonderful man. He just wants to help us get cured of our disease of obesity. The office staff seemed a bit preoccupied on the phone but once I was in the office I realized they have 8 Dr.s there and I understood!! As soon as I got there, everything was great! Don't be thrown off by Dr. Gadaleta's business like way, he is a surgeon, and a very established one at that. He has been on the commitee for the FDA approval of this surgery, not to mention numerous television appearances. He's in this to help us! He wil tell you about the risks of the surgery in a clear but caring manner, but also reassures you that he is trained thoroughly in bariatric surgery and knows how to fix any problems that could possibly arise! At my presurgical visit he warmed up even more and now that I am post op and I have seen him many times in the past month I can certainly say he is totally caring. He has made me feel so at ease about anything and everything I was worried about. I can't wait to go back in a 2 weeks to see how I did!!
