I felt such relief after meeting with Dr. Coon for the first time. I was so nervous going in, but once there, I realized I was in very capable hands. He is friendly and open and willing to answer all of your questions. He is on top of everything. He really promotes going to the support groups both before and after surgery and I was so impressed when I went to one before surgery and him and his staff were there. After talking to other patients there I realized that it means a lot to them as well as to me knowing they are really there for us. The staff is the best! They really know what you are going to be dealing with and they are there for you every step of the way. I know that I can call them with any concerns or questions I have, without feeling like I'm bothering them. The office as a whole really emphasizes after care. They know that having a good healing process depends on you following up when they tell you to. I would give Dr. Coon and his staff a 10 for the work that they do for their patients. In my opinion I feel very blessed to have had him for my surgeon and for having them on my side.

My first impression of Dr Coon was that he seemed extremely kind and patient with me. That impression has broadened to a feeling of real trust and warmth , I feel completely safe in any decisions he has or continues to make in my case. His office staff are all just as warm and friendly they always make me feel welcome and I have never felt rushed in or out of the office. The pre-op program and the post-op program is presented by licensed medical staff and the majority of them have had the surgery themselves so they make you feel very comfortable and encourage you to follow their instructions.for the optimum surgery outcome and recovery process. My own surgery was on 4/13/2010. I was considered a high risk patient, with HPB, Asthma, Diabetes, and Sleep Apnea. I also had the added complication of a hiatal Hernia that had previously been operated on in 1982 and had returned in 1992. I was on oxygen day and night and my saturation point ran about 78 without it. Dr. Coon and my pulmonary specialist both warned me I might not make it through the surgery but I believed in his ability.did not want to open me up if he could possibly avoid it. During surgery they found that I had so many adhesions that he ended up doing a 9 hr surgery. Dr. Coon did not want to open me up if he could possibly avoid it. so he stood there that nine hours cutting away the adhesions a little at a time until he removed it all they found that one-third of my stomach was up in the chest cavity and he sucessfully pulled it back down where it belonged. I have not had to use oxygen once since I came home and now my saturation is 95 to 100 thank God and Dr. Coon The bypass surgery went like a breeze but he really worked to fix the hernia. I am so thankful to have such a great docter who is so dedicated and highly competent in his field. I am not a nurse or medical specialist and the above testimony is my opinion only, I wish I could say something cautious or negative in some way as I realize nobody is perfect but I am so happy and the icing on the cake is I am losinf weight too. My quality of life has turned a complete one hundred and eighty degrees around from the two hundred and sixty pound very unhealthy woman I was to the woman I am today I am only 22 days out of surgery and nine of those days i had to spend in the hospital but I already feel wonderful the pain from the surgery is getting better and I returned to the Gym yesterday with my Docters permission. I am looking forward to living life again

Dr. Coon is an outstanding professional, he performed my sugery in August of 2009 and as of 05/04/2010 I have lost 165 pounds with only 20 more to get to my goal.
Dr. Coon treats his patients as if they are his best friend and keep us well informed as to what is expected of us and his staff. Dr. Coon's staff is very helpfull and they make you very comfortable on your visits.
Dr. Coon and staff will address any questions you may have prior to and after your surgery, he does address the risks you could have.
I would rate Dr. Coon and staff a 10 on a scale of 1 through 10 with 10 being the highest. His surgical competence and bedside manner are both great.
My only complaint was the hospital was extremely cold and it seemed as if I could not get warm enough during my waking hours. I would wake up because my feet where cold due to my height and the beds where too short!
I highly recommend Dr. Coon to you and all my friends who are thinking of this surgery!

I had my first consultation with Dr. Coon in February 2010. I was very impressed with not only him but his staff and office. Everyone there was very warm and inviting. My appointment was at 4:30 and I didn’t leave his office until nearly 7:30 pm because they were just so thorough with all of their information. They went over my insurance, the procedure, the cost, the surgery before and after, they went over everything with me and I really appreciated it. It was so helpful. I never once felt any pressure. When I walked out of his office I knew that he was the surgeon for me. I would recommend Dr. Coon to anyone wanting the gastric bypass surgery. I had my bypass surgery on March 26, 2010 and it was the best decision I have ever made.

When I met with Dr. Coon, he seemed to be a very caring man. He answered all my questions and then some. He made me feel that I will be safe in his hands. He emphasizes the importance of support group meetings and even participates in them himself. His Office staff are awesome, helpful, informative, and knowledgeable.

I am very frustrated and concerned..do not know if it is Dr. Coon or his staff, but I get the feeling that now the surgery is over and the bill is paid, I am not that important anymore. I was having problems getting my weight under control, then was passing out, called the office and they told me he would be going on leave in a few days and would not be able to see me for a couple of weeks...I am passing out and I guess no big deal. I read a lot of peoples blogs etc and they talk about how there dr/office is there for them know matter what. I sure do not get that feeling. I guess next week I will contact Fort Irwin and see what I can do to find someone who really cares about me and my fears.
Dr. Coon is wonderful. Seems very concerned and makes sure he answers all my questions. Love his bedside manners. When I first started this journey and had to get all the paperwork together so they could forward to my insurance for approval...there was couple of individuals that were very lazy and rude. Kind of acted like I was putting them out because I expected them to do there job. There was one lady..that was wonderful.
Now that I have been approved by my insurance and am working on the scheduling, preop and soon to be operation...that staff is wonderful. So overall with only one glitch...I would have to say...so far pretty GREAT.

Dr.Coon is very straight forward, what you see is what you get. He is a fantasic surgeon.Awesome bedside manner. I totally believed he saved my life. His office staff is very helpful and super friendly. I recommend him to everyone I meet who need or wants surgery, or is just looking into it.
Thank you again Dr. Coon

Dr. Coon has been wonderful. He answered all of my questions and we, together, decided that bypass was better for me than a lapband. rnrnDr. Coon's staff is friendly and knowledgeable. rnrnI attended nutrition class and nursing education class as well as support group on the same day, which works out well. Dr. Coon attended the support group meeting in person, so people were able to ask HIM questions as well. rnrnOverall, I would rate Dr. Coon 10/10.

Upon meeting Dr. Coon I thought that he had a very kind and caring way about him. He was quick to answer any and all questions and did not act as though his time was too important to spend it answering questions like some doctors do.
The staff at his office are always very professional and kind. They answer all my questions and return calls quickly.
Although I just had my surgery, it does seem like Dr. Coon's office is very concerned with patient after care. They made it very clear that I am a patient for LIFE. I did not just have surgery and walk away, they will care for me for life always making my health a priority. I do feel that in time I will see that they mean what they say.
Dr. Coon was there when I woke up to ease my fears and let me know everything went well. He was also there first thing in the morning to check on me and to let me know he was close if I needed ANYTHING. I was released later that day and Dr. Coon was kind enough to meet me to give me a nice little after care package since due to an emergency I had to hurry back home. He answered the last few of my questions and sent me home feeling safe and secure.
I cannot wait to go see him for my post op visit! I am also looking forward to the support group meetings! I have only been to one so far but I found it to be informative and entertaining. It was not a lot of people crying like you would think a support group would be. Everyone is happy! There are patients from years ago who are still coming in to the support group meetings!
I am looking forward to traveling this journey with Dr. Coon, his office staff, and his other patients!
