Sleeve on 7/8/13. So far so good. No complications. Opie was very good.

Dr. Opie is fantastic, his staff have been absolutely wonderful. The Olathe Hospital Staff (Brenda, Karen, all others) were absolutely wonderful in my care. You can tell these people really care about what they do. They went out of their way to make sure I was always comfortable thoughout the entire procedure and recovery. Ms Lindsay can take a bow, she has been absolutely wonderful in making sure I was on the right track and compling with all of the requirements and procedures at all time, many thanks to Lindsay for all of her help. More later.

He is a great, compassionate man. My original surgery (BPD with DS) was by Timothy Sifers. Have had multiple severe complications, and no one in this area will even see me as a patient. Dr Opie has operated 3 times..saving my life. There is still the fact of long-term care though, which is left up to my PCP.

Dr Opie has been excellent and blends just the right amount of professionalism with friendly bedside manner so that you feel comfortable sharing your concerns and issues with him. His office staff does not have the same work ethic/is disorganized/has at times not logged appointments so they were not rescheduled when the Dr got called away for emergency surgery.../but Dr Opie himself is the best and I would still seek him out knowing all this.

Dr. Opie is very professional in his treatment of WLS. The office staff are wonderful to work with as well. All phone calls made where messages were left, returned in a timely manner.rnrnAftercare emphasized throughout entire program. You may not have surgery until you attend a mandatory class explaining aftercare and life after WLS. Dr. Opie has an orientation type introduction where slides are shown and patients are educated on obesity and the types of surgery offered. He has reported not one loss of a patient during/after WLS, and really takes the time to evaluate each and every patient before the actual surgery date.rnrnDr. Opie takes above and beyond precautions that he feels are necessary for a positive recovery and I respect that. I would highly recommend Dr. Opie to others for WLS.rnrnI have no negative comments to make. I am highly educated to the WLS procedures and outcomes. I knew, as a nurse, what my expectations were/are. I had a mind set of what would go on during surgery and the immediate post op recovery phase. I was not let down nor was there any surprises. Once again, I would truly recommend Dr. Opie for WLS.

Dr Opie is very nice and patient. His staff is very kind and supportive. This was important to me. I know that the Staff will be important later on after surgery. rnHe does expect you to be committed to coming to group once a month not only to help yourself but to help others. rnHe has a once a month informational meeting that is MANDATORY if you wish to become one of his patients. He discusses the risks. as of now he has done 156 RNY surgeries and no deaths. rnDecide that you will be a bariatric patient for the rest of your life.. kind of like if you have asthma.. you go to a specialist and follow up with them..for the rest of your life.rnI am still pre op so I will add more later.rnHe has a great website that you are expected to download a document and that is your \"book\" that he refers you to. It's a great guide! rn

Very caring & genuine guy... He has a smart-ass humorous side to him which is refreshing as most Surgeon's do not have much of a bedside manner. I respect him greatly & all the staff members @ Olathe Med Center LOVE him too -- I met 5 of his former patient's who work with him regularly & they all think he is a GREAT man! rnrnUnfortunately, he is in an office with five or six other Surgeons. His support staff is not overly helpful or organized. This may be because they are so dang busy though, so I will give them a the benefit of doubt on that aspect.rnrnDr Opie is VERY honest. Very thorough & very dedicated to the health of his patients. He can appear to be demanding -- but, that is only because he want's to see ALL of his patient's succeed.rnrnHe has an extensive fup/aftercare program.rnrnOver all Opie ROCKS-- I would reccommend him to any one who would ask.

'My first impression of Dr Opie was that he is very quiet.
rn;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
rnDr Opie's office staff is very busy

My first impression was wow he is so young(but cool). Overtime it changed because he made it personal. It was more like he was my mate very concerned with what I wanted. The office has been very good to me. My insurance on the other hand has been kinda slow. (I suppose it is because I am so ready to get the weight off). I feel the warmth in the office when I have come Hopefully I should be getting my surgery done here n the next month or so.
