'Dr. Bynes is the Bomb. He is super fandibulous. He is a master surgeon. He is the man. He is the most skilled sureon I know (ha ha I do not know any). I asked the man if he was a praying man and his response was...".I swear alot in the operating room" but to make me be at ease

I would like to take this opportunity again to thank Dr. Byrne and his fine staff for all that has been accomplished thus far. My impressions have not changed since the initial date that I had the pleasure of meeting him.. He was always pleasant to me and my family. He was able to answer many questions that I had which allowed me to feel more opt to have the surgery and for it to be performed by him. Compared to what I have read from other, I beg to differ in regards to his bedside mannerism being spoken of in an ill fashion. Again he was pleasant, very encourging and supportive as well as concern of my recovery. WHen needed he was informative about the WLS and its complications. He didn't sugarcoated anything. Overall, he was quite frank and to the point. I have had four surgeries over my lifetime thus far, and I can truly say with God as my witness that this one was less painful. My first impression of Dr. Byrne was a good one. He was matter-of-factly down to earth with me from the start. His dry wit and accent were pleasantly different from what I was used to. When I asked my family doctor where I should go to have my surgery, he said, "They do that surgery all over the state. However, if any of them have a problem, they send them all to Charleston. So, if you go there, you are going to the source." I couldn't agree more. Anyone considering this surgery should go see Dr. Byrne. I have had so few complications that they are negligible. He has a dynamic program with a dynamic office staff and absolutely doesn't pull punches with your care before and after. His surgical skills and bedside manner are both wonderful. His aftercare has been great. He told me that I didn't need to see him but once a year from now on since I was doing so well. Wow! I just admire this man for doing such a great job! My friends and family really like the way I look now, 145 pounds lighter.

Dr. Bryne was a straight forward person. You can respect what he has to say, because he is the one with nothing to lose. His staff was great. Especially Ms. Joyce. I must have harassed her, until they told me I was approved. Once again, all I can say is Dr. Bryne is great. I would recommend him to anyone that I know is seeking to have the procedure done.

I just love Dr. Morgan. I always feel like I have her full attention. My first impression was that she was low-key. I was a little thrown because I expected to have Dr. Byrne perform my surgery. I was not disappointed with my experience with her. A big plus - I don't have to wait long during post-op appts., a big pet peeve of mine. She is very thorough and answers all my questions. She's very compassionate. I give her a 10.

I went my first consult appt. on 8-25-05. I met with another Dr. in the office . I also had to attend an info. class at that time. The class was given by Dr. Byrns and Dr.Morgan. Both Drs. were very helpful with the info. they give the class.

DR BYRNE WAS INFORMATIVE, DETAILED IN ANSWERING QUESTIONS, EXCITED ABOUT THE ENORMOUS HEALTH BENEFITS OF WLS & DETAILED ABOUT THE RISKS. HE ALSO EMPHASIZED THE PATIENT'S PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY BEFORE & AFTER SURGERY. HE CAN DO THE SURGERY & GIVE US A "TOOL" TO LOSE WEIGHT ... THE NURSES CAN CARE FOR OUR NEEDS AFTER SURGERY ... BUT, ULTIMATELY THE SUCCESS (OR, FAILURE) OF OUR WEIGHT LOSS RESTS WITH OUR DETERMINATION TO FOLLOW THE "PLAN" & PROPERLY USE THE "TOOL" OF OUR WLS FOR THE REST OF OUR LIVES.

DR MORGAN WAS WONDERFUL DURING MY MEDICAL INTERVIEW. SHE WAS TREMENDOUSLY INFORMATIVE, ANSWERED ALL OUR QUESTIONS & REALLY PUT US AT EASE.

I THINK THIS IS THE HARDEST PART OF THE ENTIRE WLS PROCESS, TO UNDERSTAND & FOLLOW A NEW WAY OF EATING. TONYA SHIPMAN (AT MUSC) GAVE US SO MUCH INFORMATION THAT WE WERE ON "INFORMATION OVERLOAD". THE WONDERFUL THING IS THAT SHE DID NOT LEAVE US "HANGING". SHE GAVE US HER PHONE # & E-MAIL ADDRESS SO WE COULD CONTACT HER. SHE SAID TO CONTACT HER ANY TIME ... & BACKED IT UP WITH A FUNNY STORY ABOUT PEOPLE ACTUALLY CALLING HER FROM THE GROCERY STORE ASKING HER SHOULD THEY EAT THIS OR THAT. I WAS IMPRESSED WITH HER ENTHUSIASM.

IF IT WEREN'T FOR HIM (& GOD, OF COURSE), I TRULY BELIEVE MY MOTHER WOULD HAVE DIED DECADES AGO. HE DEMANDS THE ABSOLUTE BEST OF HIMSELF & HIS STAFF, & THEY DON'T DISAPPOINT HIM. I like his upfront and to the point personality. He tells you like it is. Joyce that always answers the phone is the most pleasant and caring person. I wish I could have spent more time talking withe Dr. Byrne. Overall the booklet that was given goes over a lot of questions or concerns you may have after surgery. It also gives you ideas for recipes during your month of pureed food.I felt very confident with my surgeon's abilities and his caring personality.

I was anxious to meet Dr Byrne because he has such varied comments on here. I found him to be very nice- he was very professional and matter-of-fact. He obviously wants us to know exactly what we're getting ourselves into and make educated decisions about this.
