McLaren Health Care Bariatric Services Bariatric Center
Very kind. Continued throughout stay in hospital. Hospital staff very caring. Whole unit was bariatric patients. You will be getting up the evening of surgery or the next morning. They really push walking immediately as well as the "smile" breathing contraption. Please take deep breaths even though it hurts badly the first couple of days. I didn't and 3 days later my lungs started to collapse. I was in the hospital for a week. A normal surgery with no complications, has a hospital stay of 4 days. Again, the hospital staff was excellent thru my entire stay. Dr Dabideen is one of the top 10 drs for bariatric in the United States.
My first impression of Dr. Pesta was that he was young. He seemed like he really cared about his patients. His office staff has been great. Shellie his office manager is very nice, she will try to answer any question you may have. I would have no problem referring anyone to him!!! The aftercare is great, you see him at a week, 3 weeks and then 3 months, 6 months, and at a year, then every year from then on. What Dr wants to see you that much??? His bedside manner is great, all of the Dr's I saw at the time in the hospital were wonderfull. I would rate Dr. Pesta a perfect 10!!!
Very personable and highly qualified
It hasn't changed
Courteous and helpful. He has a competent medical staff that he works with and I appreciated all of them for the job they did.
Nothing
He will tell you the truth and he only wants what is best for you
He's very thourough in aftercare and he montiors your bloodwork and you levels and makes sure everything is in order and if it's not he will tell you what you need to do rectify the situation.
He was very detailed in the fact this ws a major surgery and that there were risks involved in any surgery but he has been doing this surgery for a long time and had done numerous surgeries and that he would be assisted by another well qualified surgeon and it ws his goal to bring me through the surgery without any problems.
Excellent, he is highly respected in the surgery world here in Flint, Michigan.
Both are very important to me and I had both in Dr. Dabideen
I met Dr. Pesta early this year when I attended a support meeting for the LivLite program in Warren. He was very nice and personable, seemed to really care about his patients. I've heard this from others also. I saw him for a pre-surgical consultation in March due to a mistaken identity. It wasn't I who was approved for surgery, but someone else with a name similar to mine. He was very detailed about what I could expect after surgery, I feel very confident about him as my surgeon. I'll write more after the surgical experience.
I have to add, there were some scheduling problems as my day approaches and my date was changed to the 21st and I would be the 3rd case that day. I was really upset and let Shellie at both Liv-lite and at Dr. Pesta's office know how upset I was. I was blown away when I received a phone call later in the day from Dr. Pesta himself letting me know that they were able to move things around so that I would have my surgery on the 20th as originally planned and that I would be the 1st case of the day. I can't tell you how much this mean't to me. I'd heard good things about Dr. Pesta, but this is just over and above anything I could have expected. I was already confident of his abilities, and now even moreso. Who could ask for a better doc?
Dr. Dabideen is very up front. But he is very caring. His office staff is great. What did I like best about him...? His eyes..You can see the compassion in them..You know he cares. At first meeting he sat me down and with not bars hold--told me the risk. I have asked around other doctors and they have told me he is the *best*. That means a lot that he has the respect of the medical profession. My sister works out of a Pontiac Hospital he is also known there, with great respect.
my first impression was he was compassionate and cared about me as a person, not a set of symptoms and diagnoses. i still feel that way.his office staff talk to me like my girlfriends do. he is adamant about support groops and followup.
I had a over all good experience. My doctor was very good at answering all my questions and was always pleasant. The office staff was helpfull and nice. After care is a must to make sure that all is well. They see you once a month untill six months have passed then every six to eight weeks. They have you attend a seminar on the surgery and do a good job on all counts except I wish they went over the risks a little better. I give him a 8 out of 10 . Both to the last question.
I went to my first consultation in May 2004. I was so nervous, but Dr. Dabideens staff put me at ease in no time. The office was very comfortable and the atmoshpere was friendly. The dietician I met with was very helpful in describing my dietary needs prior to surgery as well as post-op. I also met with a Bariatric Counselor and she was so upbeat and fantastic. She radiated a positive outlook and that really helped me to relax. Dr. Dabideen was very nice. He explained in detail the surgical options and encouraged me to ask any questions that I might have. I felt he was very up front and forward with the pros and cons of the surgery. My sister was with me and she was very nervous about me undergoing the surgery until she met with him. I am confident about having the surgery now and I have every faith and confidence in Dr. Dabideen.
My first impression of Dr. Pesta was that he was young! I'm not sure how to take that, some people may think inexperienced... but being 21, i felt more comfortable with him. I am also in Nursing so I can somewhat relate to him and understand what he's talking about. He's cute too, haha.
I've only met with him once, so i can't say how my impression of him has changed over time. I am from kalamazoo, live in ann arbor, and his office is in warren. My parents couldnt come with me to any seminars or office visits. I called Dr. P's office to see if he could call my mom to answer some of her questions, and he called her back in less than 24 hours and even gave her his pager number. i was impressed!
Aftercare is stressed greatly, especially following the diet despite whether you can "eat what you want" and not get sick. Taking appropriate vitamins and following nutritional guidelines to avoid side effects is also stressed.
Dr. Pesta's office staff is satisfactory. Shelly is awesome, i think she is the office manager/RN.
