From the beginning I was really impressed with the staff of Northridge Hospital Center for Weight-loss Surgery Center. They were very professional and knowledgeable about the process and made it easier to deal with.

I Started the process in February 2010 and my insurance company BC/BS denied me twice and asked for more medical records. There was a change in the staff at the center so this delayed the process also. I finally wrote a letter to add to the appeal and it was finally approved in the beginning of October.

The staff worked diligently to get the approval. They also made sure that I had all of my pre-op needs met before proceeding.
Dr. Lyass was really wonderful but interrupted by his phone several times when I first met him. Once his attention was present he spent a good amount of time explaining the procedure options and answered any questions that my Fiancée' who was extremely nervous had. What I liked about him the most was his confidence in what he does as a surgeon. He stated that up until he put me under I would have the choice of changing my mind from the Roux-en-Y to the Lap-band, which was very comforting.

Once the surgery was approved I met the new nurse Kai who is wonderful. She went over everything and made sure that I was comfortable with calling her and Dr. Lyass if I had any questions or concerns following the surgery. After surgery both Dr. Lyass and Dr. Kohkelera who assisted him visited me in the hospital to make sure that I was doing well and their nurse Kai visited too. Kai calls me frequently to check up on how I am doing.

The importance of aftercare was expressed and they made sure that I had all of the information and tools that I needed. The hospital does have a structured aftercare program for support and also gave me online support tools because I did not live in their area I live in Ventura, California.

The risks of the surgery were explained well to both I and my fiancée. I would rate the staff at Northridge Hospital Center for Weight Loss Surgery a 10+ on all aspects of this journey thus far.

Although I have not had surgery yet, every contact I have had with Dr. Korman and his staff so far has been outstanding! He has a well-structured and comprehensive pre- and post-op care protocol, and a kind, knowledgeable, and dynamic treatment team.
I am looking forward to my surgery later this month, and I will update my testimony as I have further contact with Dr. Korman and his team.

At the present time, I can honestly say that I would encourage anyone who lives in Southern California, anywhere near the Los Angeles area, to give Dr. Korman's office--L.A. Bariatrics--a call if you are looking for A surgeon for WLS.

I found Dr. Lyass and his staff so nice and professional. His Nurse Coordinator Kai just amazing. I am one week post off and feel great.

he is a sweet man, with magic skills.rnrnDr. Korman actually cares about his patients, he tells you how it is and doesnt give you the fairy tail version of things. rnrnthe women in the front are kind as well. they are quick to meet your needsrnrnI rate the dr. a 10, his office staff a 7 and the program offered by the office a 5. there is some organizational issues, and the information is presented the week before surgery in a not so easy to follow along binder. thye are however ameniable to nswering a million questions and the nurse is available 24/7

Dr Misra really put me at ease before the surgery when I met her briefly for an initial exam. She was fantastic when I was crying and begging her to not kill me as I was being wheeled into the OR. Also, she did nice work, the incisions are cleanly cut and nicely stitched. The scars should look good, as far as scars go, once they heal.
I strongly recommend her to people looking for the RNY procedure in Southern Ontario.

PRE-OP........very good program at Dr. Kormans' office.......I have read peoples comments on how the steps leading up to there surgery went, ie....3 days before surgery someone calls to asked them why they haven't completed ther EKG, there reply \"no one told me i needed one\"....etc. The great thing about Korman's program is that, its just that, a program. 1 person or group in charge of each phase, so nothing gets overlooked.......they hand u a sheet of paper with everything on it that needs to be done, some of it is on you to complete some of it is on them.........as with any 3 month program sometimes there are little missteps, thats normal.........but nothing major........they have there process down pretty good.i will let u know what happens post op...rnrnPOST-OP.........everything is good at the doc's office........good program, i think they realy have a good system of insuring everthing goes well.......no complaints here......rnrnPOST OP-rni believe i owe alot of my success over the last 15months to my doctors office.....really impressed by their support system, i try to attend as many post op group meeting as possible. i think its important for me to remember, to reflect where i was versus where i am. i really cant say much that is negative about my experiance with dr. kormans practice.

I first saw Dr. Korman at an informational meeting for people considering bariatric surgery. He was easy going, thorough, patient and willing to answer everyone's questions. He seems quite young and boyish and yet has done these surgeries for several years. My impression of him has not changed in over a year, and I have come to appreciate him greatly. His staff is wonderful, warm and caring. The entire office is operating to support the bariatric patient. No question is too foolish (no person either). They have ongoing post operative support groups; frequent check-ups, complete with lab work; available counseling, exercise, and nutritional support continue post surgery. Dr. Korman was direct about the risks of surgery as were various staff members. I would give him a \"10\" and his staff as well. I do not think that one should have to choose competence over bedside manner or vice versa. Fortunately, with Dr. Korman and his staff you don't have to.rnrnThe only negative comment I have to make, is that I frequently have to wait quite awhile beyond my scheduled appointment time to be seen. I wish they were a little more attentive to the time issue.
