Marc M. Zare MD, FACS Bariatric Center
Dr. Zare is awesome! I started this whole journey Mid/End of October and just got my sleeve December 21st! SOO fast.
Dr. Zare was very knowledgeable at the first consultation, he explained all the different types of WLS and helped me decide what one was best for me. Originally I had wanted a RNY gastric bypass and had felt like he was sort of pushing the sleeve procedure, but in the end I did decide the sleeve was best for me.
His office staff is amazing! Amalia is so nice and very helpful.
On your first visit, they give you a binder with a whole ton of info in it, and it is very helpful. Even after surgery I'm still reading it when I have a question.
I'm 6 days out of surgery and down 18 pounds!
There is only one semi-bad things I have to say.
1. After surgery I was told he did not tell my parents and fiance I was okay and everything went good until I was in recover for a hour. My parents we very worried about that, but it turns out he had to rush off to see another patient.
His bedside manner was good other then that one incident.
Overall, I highly recommend Dr. Zare.

I am 100% satisfied with how things have worked out for me. Dr. Zare is a wonderful surgeon. He performed a VSG for me on August 14 2012. My surgery went off with out a problem. I recovered very quickly and within 24 hours was up walking the halls like a made woman! I had very little pain after the procedure. I would recommend this procedure and Dr. Zare to anyone considering weightloss surgery as their next option to get healthy. This has been such a positive experience that my husband is now considering it with Dr. Zare as well. I'm 16 months out since I first met with the Doctor and started to fulfill my surgery prerequisite weightloss and 4 months post op. I've lost 40 pounds since surgery and a total of 68 pounds total. Yes I'm very happy with my experience with Dr. Zare. He's a talented surgeon and a very caring individual.
Dr. Zare and his staff have been a pleasure to work with. I had the VSG on 10/23/12. Dr. Zare is very professional and thorough. Dr. Zare and his staff continue to answer questions as they come up from time to time. I was provided with an information binder which covers what to expect before, during and after surgery as well as what you should be eating and the vitamins you should be taking. I would highly recommend Dr. Zare to anyone including close friends and family.
Dr. Zare and his entire practice are outstanding! Amelia is so helpful and supportive. She makes the process so easy to walk through. Dr. Zare thoroughly explained my surgical options and the associated risks. On the initial consultation, he provided a detailed package of information that answers nearly all questions. Dr. Zare's interpersonal skills demonstrate compassion and confidence. I knew I was in great hands with Dr. Zare. His is a Center of Excellence provider affiliated with Good Samaritan Hospital. The aftercare program includes regular support group meetings and even conference calls for support. Ample literature is available for reference which is especially helpful because it is difficult to remember everything you learn.
Dr. Zare is a great surgeon and a kind, compassionate human being! I strongly recommend Dr. Zare and his practice to anyone ocnsidering bariatric surgery.
I was sleeved on October 23. Dr Zare did a great job! He came to see me several times after the surgery. Made me feel very comfortable. I would recommend Dr Zare to anybody who is considering a WLS.
Dr. Zare and his office staff Amelia and Kathryn made my life so easy from the day I had my first appointment in August. Dr. Zare explained in details all options and statistics. He is very personable and easy to talk to. Amelia and Kathryn made the whole process of getting my insurance approval and scheduling the surgery like a breeze. My surgery is scheduled for October 23, 2012.
Had my surgery and I LOVE DR MARC ZARE... Very happy with my surgery. Highly recommend him.
I have yet to have my surgery. I saw Dr. Zare on August 9, 2012 and have a lot of respect for him. I am going through the steps towards surgery and am very excited. Dr. Zare and staff are very nice and professional. I'll update more after I go back.. crossing my fingers that insurance approves surgery and I can begin my new healthy, happy life.
Dr. Zare is an excellent surgeon! Cares about his patients, is quick, thourough and honestly... saved my life
had second meeting with Dr. Zare in late June.. everything is going according to plan
First impression is that he is extremely efficiant and forthcomming
I met with Dr. Zare just 2 days ago for my first appointment. He was respectful, caring, and informative. He looked at me and told me that He knew I would be one of those people who had WLS that would meet their goal and stay at it. He actually said he was glad to see me now before I had health problems, and knew I would succeed. I feel that the staff of the office are sociable, kind, and considerate. They greeted me with smiles and helped me understand the process I needed to take to meet all the requirements. I would recommend Dr. Zare and his staff to anyone considering RNY or VSG surgery.
I went to see Dr. Zare on May of this year. I told him I was interested in the lap band. He was very straight forward in telling me that I needed to do more research about it because it was not as effective as RYN or VSG. He went ahead and explained to the the pros and cons of the lap band and then he went into more detailed about VSG. He invited me to do more research and the think about my choice. Based on my meeting with him and based on his professional demeanor and thorough explanation of the procedure I pretty much instantly changed my mind about the surgery I wanted. I did tell him I would think about it and let him know. I also asked him how long the authorization process took and he said about one month and half...and voila here I am; I will get my VSG surgery next week. I will be able to comment on his surgical competence and aftercare. As of right now I can tell you that he is a wonderful doctor and his staff is readily available to help you.
Dr. Zare was actually recommended to me from my insurance company as one of their number 1 providers of weight loss surgery. After a little more then 6 months of battling with insurance and another surgeon I partied ways and set up my appointment with Dr. Zare. Right away the process began and I was in the office for an informational meeting. The office staff was great and the meeting was very helpful. He put on a slide show, answered questions then met one on one with each patient. During my one on one, although it was brief I felt he asked me the appropriate questions of why I wanted to have the VSG surgery and what his thoughts were. He also left me with some questions to think about and really consider everything I was doing. I walked out of there feeling great and confident. Because of my insurance and the long approval process I had to go through, I wasn't back in the office or in contact with Dr. Zare for over 6 months. But in that mean time, His insurance coordinator is an amazing miracle worker in my eyes, and SO patient. At times I was calling her every day, and if I didn't get to talk to her personally she would call me back by the end of the day, if not the next morning. She worked with me every single step of the process and made it all happen! I cant thank her enough! Once approved I had a very quick pre Op with Dr and before I knew it was walking into the OR room. The last thing I remember, was seeing Dr Zare and then I woke up and was done! I saw Dr Zare once each day while I was in the hospital when he came in to check up on me and discharge me. The impressive part was when my nurses had to call him both nights in the middle of the night to ask for different Orders and he got back to them right away! I'm only 5 days post OP and still have a lot more appointments with the Dr and hopefully I will continue to have great things to say!
