Marc M. Zare MD, FACS Bariatric Center
As an Nurse Practitioner and previously an ICU nurse where Dr Zare performs his surgeries, I remember when the bariatric program started as well as when Dr Zare joined us at Good Samaritan. I performed my research well and have experience working with Dr Zare and had a few physicians to choose from but for myself, the choice was obvious. I have not been disappointed at all. His bedside manner is calm, soothing and professional and his skill (as already known to me as a nurse caring for patients) is excellent. Instead of treating me as a colleague, he treated me as a patient. He reviewed the information that I already knew due to my medical knowledge but also reviewed information that was not known to me in a manner appropriate for my level of education and experience.
My surgical experience went as planned and I couldn't be more thrilled with the results so far although it has been less than two weeks. I would highly recommend him for bariatric surgery, not only due to his superb skill but his wonderful bedside manner and genuine concern and caring for his patients.
Thank you Dr Zare for being the doctor you are.
I can't say enough about Dr Zare and his office. They were so helpful right from the first appointment. Everything was so coordinated and well communicated that by the time my surgery date hit, I had very little anxiety and no questions. He really took the time to go over the weight loss procedures available to me and helped me make a smart and informed decision. At 8 weeks post-op, I have lost nearly 40 pounds and I feel great! If I could do it all over again, I would in a heartbeat, and I would choose Dr Zare for my journey. I believe in him so much that I recently recommended him to a friend.
Surgery went very well, recovery was very fast & no complications. I was up within hours of my surgery and walking laps around the hospital floor at regular intervals with very little discomfort, hardly used any of my pain medication which I am quite pleased with and after Thursday I am only taking the pain medication at night now. Feeling very good so far, don't care for the liquid diet but this will not be forever. Looking forward to my first support group. I would so recommend Dr Zare to anyone considering Bariatric surgery. Dr Zare and all his staff and team have been wonderful throughout the entire process.
I was referred to Dr. Zaré by my general practitioner for a consult for bariatric surgery. I had been thinking about doing this for about 5 years. My insurance changed this year and I found out that it was a covered service, so I jumped at the opportunity to receive the help. I met with him and his staff, specifically Amelia, and was extremely impressed from the get go on how knowledgeable & eager they were to help me understand my options. I didn't even know there was such a thing a "Gastric Sleeve" surgery until I met with them. He went through the process from beginning to end, and made it very clear that this was the best and safest option for me. I must have called the office at least a dozen times prior to getting my pre-surgical approval. They referred me to a Surgery Coordinator, dietician and a great therapist who helped pave the way to a very successful surgery. Although I had to do a lot of the footwork in order to get my insurance to approve it, Dr. Zaré, Amelia and everyone else involved were also key players on my path.
My surgery was approved and within 7 days I was on the schedule to get it done. There was no turning back at that point and they all assured me it was the right decision and that I would be wondering why I hadn't done it sooner! They were right!! Everything went smoothly and Dr. Zaré also repaired a hiatal hernia during the sleeve surgery.
I would highly recommend Dr. Zaré and greatly appreciate everything he and his staff did for me. My life will forever be healthier and I have them to thank for that.
~With my warmest regards ~
Dr. Marc Zaré and his office have been terrific. Considering Bariatric surgery? My experience was a good one, I highly recommend scheduling a consult with Dr. Zaré.
...Dr. Zaré’s process has been thorough and helpful from the initial meeting through complete documentation of the process to the arrangement of the standard consulting dietitian and psychologist to even providing meal supplements via his office. The actual Vertical Sleeve Bariatric procedure and pleasing overnight stay at Good Samaritan Hospital was trouble-free and surprisingly effortless on my part. I was walking about in the hospital that afternoon every 3-4 hours. My case has been a model one, with no significant side affects to speak of. (Really the only noteworthy issue, and unrelated to the Laparoscopic surgery, was a flare up of my heel spurs for several weeks which hobbled my daily walking exercises, thus slowing my initial recovery process a little.)
...As of this post, I have lost about 75 lbs from my first visit to Dr. Zaré six months ago (50 lbs from the date of the surgery three months ago) and expect to lose another 40 lbs over the next 3-4 months. Rapid weight lose (a pound a day) was the rule for the first 6 weeks with it slowing to about two lbs/week, now. I am now eating most anything at meals, but clearly in very small portions and staying with my vitamin and protein supplement regiment. I’ve adjusted to the small portions, which is great but still at times tricky to gauge when it’s time for the last bite. My occasional “food binge feasts” have departed.
...Feeling fit.
Excellent doctor..very skilled and well thought of among his peers. His medical school background was impressive to the doctors I work with. I found out first hand Dr. Zare is very kind and compassionate. I was freaked out right before surgery. He was kind, reassuring and helped me through it. The perfect doctor....compassionate as well as top notch!! Not a better combination!
