Madison Surgical Associates Bariatric Center
Dr. Mailapur has been awsome to work with during this process. I decided in May of 2006 that I wanted to pursue having the Roux en Y surgery and attended Dr. Mailapur's seminar for more information. From the first time I shook his hand I knew he would be my surgeon of choice. He has been very thorough in explaining every detail of the surgery, and in answering every question my wife and I had. His care has been nothing short of perfect and I would do it all again today. I am just over 2 weeks post-op as of this writing and could not feel better about my decision...not only to have the surgery, but to have chosen such a wonderful surgeon. Thank you Dr. Mailapur for giving me my life back. I will be forever grateful.
My first impression of Dr. Mailapur was when I attended a seminar of his last month concerning RNY... he was very knowledgable, seemed very kind and caring, and was very patient with questions and tried intently to answer them.rnrnMy impression has improved. At my last and only visit with him - he remained caring, knowledgable and kind. I am glad that he is my surgeon.rnrnHis staff is awesome too... they are kind and sweet. They have been super willing to help each time I have called.rnrnThere is nothing for the 'what youliked least' catagory!rnrnAt the risk of repeating myself LOL - He is knowledgable, kind and caring. My circumstance are unusual and he has taken the extra effort to research issues involved.rnrnI have only been to his office once and we have not yet discussed after care... but in his seminar, he explicity expressed the importance of it... and the fact that it is for a lifetime.rnrnYes.rnrnHe has explained in great detail the risks of my surgery in general.rnrnOn a scale of 1 - 10, thus far he sores a perfect 10!rnrnBoth are great & I'm fully confident that Dr. Mailapur is efficient in both!
Dr. Mailapur was recomended to me by my endrochronoligist. The firstexperience I had was in a 1 hour seminar he gave on weight loss surgery. At that time he struck me as not only very professional, but also as someone who genuinely cared about the people he was trying to help. His presentation was very through in both the pros and cons. rnTo be completely honest, in visits to his office i actually saw very little of Dr Mailapur himself, however, that being said, his staff is amazing!!! I wish I could express how wonderful his staff truly is. They not only were very professional but they truly cared about making me comfortable with my experience. They explained everything in detail and tried to make sure i understood everything completely, and to anyone going into this type of procedure, that is vital!!! rnOne thing people should understand is that Dr Mailapur does not \"pull any punches\" unlike so many other Dr.'s that i've delt with through the years, he dosent tiptoe around unpleasant truths. To me this is a major plus, to some people that may bother them, however if it does, they need to rethink having any weight loss surgery! As of one week post surgery, I can honestly say, I am not only happy I took the step in doing this surgery, but i am thrilled that I have Dr. Mailapur and his wonderful staff there to help me. rnI think some ppl may take something I said in here as a critisism of Dr. Maliapur, when I commented that I saw very little of him at the office visits, that was far from a complaint, rather it was a compliment to his wonderful staff! No Dr. can do everything, and obviously it would be impossible for any one person to give every patient all the information needed, never mind all the support. Dr. Maliapur is doing a wonderful job both as a surgeon and as a part of the support system!
Dr Mailapur is one of those rare and precious doctors who realize that they are CAREGIVERS. He is genuinely concerned with your wellbeing and also concerned with the kind of care his staff gives. At every visit he asks if you were treated well by him and his staff and if you have any concerns with their care and treatment of you. That means a lot.rnrnHis office staff is very friendly and helpful.rnrnHe will NOT schedule an appt with you for a consult on WLS until you have been to one of the free seminars he gives. He is a real believer in patient education. At the initial seminar you receive a folder-full of educational information. At the initial consultation you also receive another book of information he has put together. After you have met with both he and his dietician Claudia- you take a test on the information regarding the diet to be certain you understand what they have told you. You also take another little test on the day of your pre-op visit. rnrnhave to say I was both impressed with his surgical skill and bedside manner. But most of all, I was impressed with the level of care he is determined to give.
I would like to say I am very impressed with Dr.Mailapur. He is very competent and very kind. He came to visit me in the hospital every day and was very kind to me in the office. He answered all my questions and was very reassuring. He also took every precaution to make sure there would be no complications.I would recommend him to anyone having bariatric surgery.I did have to have my gall bladder taken out four weeks past surgery. But Dr.Mailapur was there every step of the way. He was very kind and was there any time to handle any questions I had.
Dr Mailapur is AWESOME!!! He is so well rounded, he's more like a friend than a surgeon!!! He doesn't pull any punches & he's straight up with you but at the same time has a great bedside manner & is always willing to listen to what you have to say!!! I know a few of his patients & none of us have ever had complications, his skills are excellent!!! His office staff are great as well!! Laura played a huge part in helping me & has been behind me since day 1! The whole office atmosphere was a pleasure, I look forward to going for my follow up visits to see everyone!! I definitely recommend Dr Mailapur!!! Thank you Doc, you ROCK!!!
A friend highly recommended Dr. Mailapur to me for gastric bypass surgery. When I contacted Dr. Mailapur's office, Laura was very helpful in providing information about the surgery. My insurance required a 6 month weight loss program before they would even consider the surgery. After 5 months of the weight loss program, I attended Dr. Mailapur's seminar and was very impressed. Once the 6 months were up, I contacted Laura and she instructed me on the next step which involved having 3 years medical records and weight loss program sent to Dr. Mailapur's office. Dr. Mailapur's staff forwarded the information immediately to BCBS and stressed to me to be very persistent in contacting BCBS for a decision on the surgery. I was approved 2 weeks later and scheduled a consultation with Dr. Mailapur. During the consultations, Dr. Mailapur did a mental evaluation to make sure I was a candidate for the procedure and then I met with his nutritionist Claudia. I had to go on a high protein liquid diet 2 weeks prior to surgery so my liver would shrink. Surgery was scheduled for June 21st and I was released from the hospital on June 24th. Dr. Mailapur keeps all of his patience in the hospital 3 nights to make sure there are no complications. I would highly recommend Dr. Mailapur. He is a family man who is very personable and caring with excellent bedside manners. Dr. Mailapur and his staff were excellent throughout the entire process. They answered all my questions and returned my calls immediately. It has been 1 1/2 months since surgery and I have already lost 40 pounds since my pre-op appointment, from a size 24 to a size 16/18. I am feeling great!
