Madison Surgical Associates Bariatric Center
I had by gastric bypass on 7/9/08. It was the best choice I could have ever made for me and my daughter. I have a greater chance of living a long healthy life with her and growing old. I have so much energy to play with my little girl. I want so much more out of life now. My self esteem is almost through the roof, I can't imagine how it will be once I lose the rest of the extra weight. I am sure I have cut my chances of getting the nasty disease diabetes that runs in my family badly. I have had no complications for surgery. I am learning to eat slowly and all the other things that must be learned after the surgery. I would have the surgery over again if I was in the same position as before. I have nothing negative to say about the surgery or my surgeon. I was well informed on the surgeon and the surgery before and think it made a big difference.
the first time i met dr.malipar i felt at ease he was very good about learning about my past medical history and talked to me like i was an equal and treated me with the best of care.he did a great job on my surgery and i lost 145 lbs almost a year after my surgery i tore my omentum and herniated i went to several doctors and all i got was pain medican i finely went to dr.malipar and he put me in the hospital and found the hernia and saved my life if it had went on another 24 hours i waould have died thank god dr.malipar was caring enough to investagate my illness and not just give me pain meds and send me home ...he is a great doctor and person i love him he is my favorite doctor
I have been extraordinarily blessed. I watched my best friend, Anthony, go through the process of RNY with Dr. Mailapur in 2005. Anthony had a great experience with Dr. Mailapur and has had fantastic results (see his testimonial). rnI went with Anthony to a seminar and met Dr. Mailapur and his staff. I was very impressed. I started the process of approval, medically supervised weight loss, and preparation in 2006. By July 2007, I had my approval, but my weight loss had been fruitless. Dr. Mailapur told me that if I couldn't lose some weight, he would not schedule my surgery because of the risk. I was 448 pounds and devestated. I thought I was ready to have the surgery.rnBut Dr. Mailapur was supportive and honest. I needed to commit to the process. I made my decision and lost 61 pounds before surgery. On December 17, 2007 I was 387 pounds when Dr. Mailapur performed my surgery. The procedure only took 1 hour because of the hard work that I did to prepare. My recovery took less than a week and by Christmas I was with my family and had already lost several pounds.rnToday, October 10, 2008, a week shy of 10 months from surgery, and I weigh 219 pounds. I have lost a total of 168 pounds since surgery and 229 pounds overall (since July, 2007 - 16 months). rnIt hasn't always been easy, but it has always been a blessing. I have MY LIFE BACK! I work out 4-5 times per week. I have started kayaking again. I can buy clothes in regular stores. This is the life I always wanted and because of Dr. Mailapur, his staff, my friend Anthony, my wife and family, and a lot of hard work, I finally have it.rnAll I can say is THANK YOU to everyone who helped me.
I did a lot of research on the internet before I went to Dr. Mailapur's seminar. At the seminar I knew he was the doctor for me. He is very knowledgeable and explained everything very well in the seminar. When I went for my first office visit, Dr. Mailapur was very thorough about what he expected of me, and he answered all of my questions to my satisfaction. rnrnDr. Mailapur explained that this is not the cure-all for obesity if the patient does not do his/her part. Dr. Mailapur is very professional and also has a great bedside manner. He is genuinely concerned for his patients.rnrnMy surgery went very well. I had no complications from it and was very pleased. rnrnNow that Dr. Mailapur has done his part, it is up to me to do my part. Dr. Mailapur has emphasized this from the beginning. I am determined to follow the instructions given by him and the Dietitian, Linda Steakley, who was also knowledgeable and very informative.rnrnI have nothing negative to say about Dr. Mailapur. If I had the surgery to do over, I would still choose Dr. Mailapur.
My first impression wasthat Dr. Mailapur was very attentive and knowledgeable about my procedure. His office staff is great and very upbeat. Dr. mailapur is very strict and will continually emphasize the things that he espects of you. He is very concerned with making sure you are happy with him and his staff and wants to make sure he and his staff have provided you with everything you need. One thing I like best about him is, even tho he has hundreds of patients, he always remembers you personally. He remebers little personal things about you. This is impressive to me because I don't feel like just another number. rnI especially like the fact that he will give me a hug at the end of the visit to let me know he is proud of me and that he cares about me and my continued success.rnSurgical competence was what i was looking for. My surgery was a complicated one because of another procedure that Dr. Mailapur had to do before my bypass. He had only performed this particular procedure 6 or 7 times in the past. This made me for a higher risk candidate, a higher risk of complications and longer surgery time. rnKnock on wood, I had no complications, my surgery was a complete success and one year post surgery, I am exactly where I should be. rnI placed my life in Dr. Mailapur's hands and he passed with flying colors. He is very competent and I would recommend him to anyone wanting weight loss surgery. He will not do the surgery if he is not 100% sure that you are a candidate.
My insurance only covered this Dr because I work in the hospital. I have been so happy with the care from Dr Mailapur. I had compications in the hospital with a twisted/swollen bowel and when they did the tests he was right there by my side. My case was unusual and he even contacted his mentor about me because I was different from his hundreds of other cases. He wanted my opinion on the psycologist that he refered me to and the support group. He is very caring and conserned about the well being of his patients. He insructed me on the after care, and how this is a tool to help me not a quick fix to weight loss. I would recommend Dr. Mailapur to anyone considering this type of procedure.
When I first met Dr Mailapur at his siminar I knew that he was the right doctor for me. He is such a caring person and really interested in your questions and concerns. His staff is always willing to listen even if you have called and bothered them 10 times that same day. Dr Mailapur is very up front and honest about any risks with the surgery and makes sure you understand everything he is going to do for you and what he wants you to do to help with the healing process. I recommend him to all of my friends and anyone I hear talking about weight loss surgery!
Dr. Mailapur is by far one of the most caring & concerned doctors I have ever met!!! Im a nurse & I deal with doctors on a regular basis and I can HONESTLY say I couldn't have made a better choice for a bariatric surgeon. He's very straightforward and strict especially concerning post-op care, but you can tell it's because he wants you to get the most out of the surgery with little or no complications not just because he's \"money hungry\". He even called me the night before surgery and asked if I was feeling ok and if I had any concerns or questions. He's very professional & knowledgable about the procedure and makes sure he covers ALL aspects with you before you make your final decision. I would definitely recommend him to anyone considering WLS. :-)
I first personally met Dr. Mailapur at his seminar on Valentime's Day 2006. I have personally never met a doctor who cares more about what he is doing than Dr. Mailapur does (I work with doctors, so believe me, I know what I am talking about!). You could tell from the moment he walked into the room that he was there not for the money but because he truly cared about the need for weight loss surgery. rnrnI also loved how thorough he was in his description of the surgery, the risks, the benefits, the alternatives, and the recovery period. He did not try to beat around the bush at the risks, he was very straight forward. He is also very concerned about your recovery/postop/aftercare. He has a very detailed and intense program for your postop care, from the physical exercise and diet to the correct vitamins that he will make sure you take (boy does he remind you about this, LoL!).rnrnI am looking forward to my actual consult with him and having him as my surgeon. rnrnThank-you, Dr. Mailapur :)
