Lenox Hill Bariatric Surgery Program Bariatric Center
My first impression was comfort, I was referred by a friend, and when I heard he worked on public figures, I was even more confident he knew exactly what he was doing.
Overtime, my impression of Dr. Roslin has not changed. I could not be happier with the services provided by his staff and the immediate attention I was given upon calling after hours with questions regarding drainage and shortness of breath. My call was returned shortly after and questions answered with no problem.
Dr. Roslin was friendly and answered all my questions. I chose to go with the lap band and they were able to schedule my surgery during my appointment. I recieved a booklet that outlined everything. They handled everything with the insurance company. I did not have any problems getting approved by my insurance company(HIP).
They approved me immediately.
The Lenox Hill Hospital was excellent! My mom is has been a nurse for over 40 years and she travelled from Michigan to be with me. The hospital was clean! The staff was caring and knowledgable. I had a big fear of staying in the hospital, but they made me feel comfortable.
I LIKED DR. ROSLIN FROM THE FIRST DAY I MET HIM AT ONE OF THE MEETINGS. HIS OFFICE STAFF (CATHERINE) IS A VERY NICE LADY SOMETIMES I THINK SHE IS A BIT BUSY BUT DOES A GOOD JOB OF TRYING TO TAKE CARE OF EVERYONE. AFTERCARE WAS A LITTLE CONFUSING FOR MYSELF SINCE I RAN INTO A FEW PROBLEMS AFEW WEEKS AFTER MY SURGERY AND COULD NOT GET ANSWERS QUICK ENOUGH.I WOULD RATE DR.ROSLIN A 9.
I have been to support meetings at Lenox Hill. Dr. Roslin personally hosted and answered everyone's questions until bassically the questions ran out.. I would say approximately 200 people were at the session . all in various stages.. just thinking about surgery, have decided, have a date, had surgery recently and long term successes... everyone shared with everyone.. the best source of informaition because all the questions asked of Dr Roslin were answered straight forwardly.
After years in OA and RA it's the first time I sat in a room where everyone was smililng.. they finally found a solution.. including me..
I was very jpleased with my appointment with Dr. Roslin and he is not concerned about approval by my insurance co. I do feel it should have been submitted by now but I am told they will submit it this week..It April 6th. I had given them everything they needed including the Psychologist and Nutritionist clearance document in early February...
At this time my only concern is the insurance. addendum.. as with my concerns for the processing of the insurance papers at the last minuite, I have had problems getting the office to respond to calls from Quest related to proper diagnosis codes for the tests they gave me a perscription for. They put the lab on hold if a real person answers and then hang up and when quest leaves a message on their answering machine noone returns the calls. it is very upsetting.
My first impression was very positive. He was very straight-forward, candid, with a pleasant sense of humor. All of my experience with him has confirmed my initial impression. The office staff is very competent and caring, especially considering the factory nature of the practice. He emphasizes aftercare, and has groups for support which meet on a monthly basis. Unfortunately, I cannot attend, since I live in London. He was very candid about the risks and the comparison of the various methods. I would rate him absolutely tops - in surgical competence and in bedside manner. I have nothing but the best things to say about him.
The two negatives were (1)that I had to remain an extra five days in the hospital, since I couldn't hydrate adequately without the IV, due to inflammation of the band. I was not prepared for this possibility, which I think that I should have been, by the surgeon, and by the literature. After that, it has been very good. Second, the hospital bill submitted to the insurance company was out of sight. I did not understand the process of bargaining that goes on, and I did not like it. However, once I discussed it with Dr. Roslin, he straightened it all out in less than a minute, and waved the $33,000 bill remaining which is what my insurance company claimed I still owed to the hospital. It turned out to me virtually nothing - a couple of hundred dollars.
Extremely knowledgeable and competent. May be overwhelming unless you come to him with an agenda of items that you want to cover, or need to understand.
He explained, in a group session, during the first visit the different surgical options, risks, potential problems, both physical and psychologicalin great detail. It was the most comprehensive, and technically description of the entire process I have heard.
My impression has remained essentially unchanged.
Competent and available.
Almost 5 months have passed since my surgery. My entire experience has been positive. I have lost 97lbs since surgery and 125lbs since I began the program. I had occasion very early in the post surgical period to check with Dr. Roslin's staff about unexpected draining at one of the incisions. I had no difficulty reaching her immediately, and was quickly assured that it was not uncommon nor was it dangerous, and was given instructions on how to deal with it.
Dr. Roslin is a great guy. He is a wonderful surgeon, I have been losing the weight, and my surgical scars are very small, 6 little lines across my stomach.
His office staff is teriffic - very efficient, helpful and always pleasant.
I think that any patient who goes to Dr. Roslin will be very happy with him and their results.
During the consultation, he addressed 3 different types of surgeries, the possible risks involved and then, we discussed and decided together what would be best for me.
Aftercare involves post surgical visits to the Dr, of course, then visits to the nutritionist.
Dr. Roslin has excellent surgical compitence, my primary care doctor recommended him and told me that he is the best in his field. His bedside manner is grest also = he has a great sense of humor.
My first impression was that he was knowledgeable, professional, focused, articulate and concerned. That impression has never changed.
His aftercare consists of a series of post-op visits, a monthly support group, and the patients ability to call or e-mail him.
His office staff is competent and. . . brisk.
His initial group presentation to prospective patients addressed the different procedures (banding, bypass), their risks and the problems/rewards after surgery.
I don't think I could have been in better hands. He has been/was wonderful to me before surgery, in the hospital and since then.
