I originally worked with another surgeon and was scheduled for the LAP Band procedure when Aetna pulled the plug. That surgical office was not successful in overturning their denial. I then contacted Dr Roslin, who diligently fought for me and got Aetna to approve the Lap Band procedure. He wanted me to have a choice of which WLS would work best for me rather than have an insurance company decide for me. Dr Roslin was very responsive to my e-mails and when we met, he reviewed all the pros and cons of both the RNY Bypass and the Lap Band. He also reviewed my history and patterns as the related to each surgery. In this way, I had all the available info in which to decide. He and his staff were friendly, professional and informative.

I was grateful to be given options and finally decided to have the Bypass done on 2/15/02.

Dr Roslin was great and my post-op experience has been better than expected.

The only complaints I had were in regards to a couple of resident doctors and the insurance approval timing:
There were a couple of doctors at Lenox Hill Hospital that checked in on me and caused me some pain by pressing on my incisions. This is a teaching hospital and if I had been better prepared, I would have questioned all doctors prior to letting them touch me.
The insurance approval process could also have been less stressful by being completed in a more timely fashion. I was beginning to lose sleep that I might not have my approval since this only came through 1 week prior.

All in all I would rate Dr. Roslin a 10, his office staff a 7 and Lenox Hill Hospital an 8.

MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF DR.ROSLIN WAS VERY GOOD.HE WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND VERY INFORMATIVE, I FELT VERY COMFORTABLE.

Initally I was supposed to meet with Dr. Roslin, but when I called his office the lady was nasty to me. Told me to check to see his he took my insurance before I made appt.

You would think she would know if he was participating with my insurance.

So first impressions are lasting....I immediately hung up phone and called Dr. Ren at NYU had appt. she is wonderful and her staff great!

I love Dr. Ren she is great.
As for Dr. Roslin don't know if he is good or not, did not want to find out if his office staff was that misinformed...

My first impression was his office staff...RUDE and abrupt. My first impression of him Great, I knew I would be in good hands. My impression over time is that I have a great respect for Dr. Roslin, his experience and talent as a surgeon.
His office staff is not the greatest. Katherine can and is abrupt no warm at all from her. She will do her job no more and no less and don't ask her for anything. For instance, my surgery was scheduled for Friday, it was Monday and she had not put my insurance through. First she claims she did not have psych evaluation, which was BS because both me and my psychiatric social worker mailed and faxed (Dr. Roslin made comment that he had 3 in chart). Then she said, oh, I put through and they are calling me back stating they need more information. Ok, so I called the insurance company myself and low and behold she never put it in.

As they say she is a peiece of work.

As for Dr. Roslin and Dr. Kurian, I have the utmost respect for them, he is wonderful surgeon and human being. Took the time to explain EVERYTHING to me, I went with list of questions...did not make me feel rushed at all.

The hospital staff was adequate. If I had to rate Dr. Roslin on an 1 to 10 scale I would rate him 100,000,000,000,000,000. and his office staff negative-100,000,000,000,000,000.

I have no regrets with my band, very comfortable with it and have no hestitation recommending it to anyone.

He reminded me of Danny Bonaduce from The Partridge Family (the RED hair ) He was very friendly, but not too much so. His office manager, Katherine is very profesional, and knowledgeable.
I think I hurt myself by showing him that I knew all I needed to know about my surgery. He took it for granted now that I have no questions. That is not the case, but now I don't know how to approach him.
He really didn't speak to me about after care, but he did give me info on an obesity support group in the hospital ( with the dates they meet). He also gave me the names and numbers of a nutritionist and phycologist he works with. That made it very easy for me. Katherine also stressed that I could get them on my own through my insurance. I want to get the process over and done with, so I will go to the people that work with him. Our interview took 5 minutes. There were no other patients there but me, and I was seen right away. He did give me alot of reading material that answered most of my questions. I felt at ease when he told me that I was an excellent candidate for laparoscopic surgery which is what I am praying for and hope to get. I will speak to him again just to aliviate my concerns. What most impressed me about Dr. Roslin was that I told him that I wanted it done asap and he has scheduled me right away and called my doctor and got the ball rolling. I like a person of action.
My friends tell me he has a lousy bedside manner, so my expectations are rather low. I hope I am pleasantly surprised. Everybody has their own opinions about people. I am an optimist, and I am putting all my trust in Dr. Roslin. I'm with him 100%.If I didn't think he was competent I would be out of there.

He is very nice and knowledgeable. His office staff has always been nice and hlpful. He was very straight forward about the risks and follow up. I would say his surgical competence is much better than bed side manner.

I met with Dr Roslin on Oct 11 and had very positive feelings from the start. He answered all my questions with confidence and pride. He distributes a completely informative brochure that leaves basically no questions to have to ask. His assistant is through and precise with your directions to assist with approval from your insurance company. I have gone to 2 of the 4 doctors required for pre-op assessment, with the other 2 scheduled for next week. With my surgery schedule for 11/30/01, I am pretty excited and confident.

I first met him after my wife's surgery, I found him to be very professional, I liked him very much. Then on July 5th I had an appointment with him for an Information session. He is very informative and seems to care about his patients. I got a surgery date (08/27/01).

Overall I think he his a great Doctor and more important a great Human Being !! Thanks Doc.

Well, I was right, I'm 2 1/2 months post-op and I still think Dr. Roslin is great, I've lost 93 lbs so far, and I feel great... Enormous gratitude Doc... Thanks

My first impression of Dr. Roslin was a positive one. He was very friendly, open to questions but unfortunately, he had left his computer home and was unable to give me the complete "show". Despite this, he was very thorough in his outline of the different types of surgery available. I had thought the process of scheduling surgery etc. was going to be a long one but I saw him Nov. 14, 2001 and surgery was scheduled for Jan. 18, 2002. Dr. Roslin's office staff (Catherine) is exceptionally knowledgable and competent.

First appointment 11/15 though We have corresponded a bit by email. He seems to be very available to answer questions.

Dr. Roslin was extremely professional and friendly. Catherine was very proficient. It was nice meeting other people in the office in varying stages of preop to postop.

As I had done extensive research prior, the appointment was less intensive. I did have to wait over an hour for the appointment but Catherine always came out to update me/
