Lenox Hill Bariatric Surgery Program Bariatric Center
I opted for WLS Surgery because of my health conditions and history that include Stroke, hypertension, diabetes and complications with walking and acute foot pain and after years of unsuccessful weight loss programs. I met with my surgeon, Dr. Mitchell Roslin at LENOX HILL HOSPITAL in New York City on September 19, 2002 for my consultation. It was very brief as I had been attending his monthly support groups since April, 2002 and I was very well informed of the procedures and the risks and benefits of each. Dr. Roslin told me I was an excellent candidate for WLS surgery and to proceed with the pre-op tests. Dr. Roslin has an extensive education background in bariatric surgery and heads the department at Lenox Hill, and he is highly recommended from the 100's of patients he has performed surgery on.
In my opinion, Dr. Roslin is a gifted surgeon with a nasty god complex and an arrogant temperament that makes one want to slap him across his freckled face...HARD. I chose him because he's among the best, and because he does the lap RNY. He's a "love 'em and leave 'em" surgeon, meaning he's attentive until he's done your surgery, then he could sort of care less. He minimizes your complaints, treats you like you're an idiot, and overall does nothing to encourage or protect your trust as a patient. Yes he's a great surgeon, but this surgery is no joke, and you'll want someone who cares (or seems to care) a lot more than this asshole. If I had it to do over again, I'd check out Marina Kurian or I. Michael Leitman, both outstanding doctors without the nasty aftertaste that Roslin leaves. It's important to note that this is (just) my personal opinion, and your experience with Dr. Roslin may be totally different.
My first impression was very kind and very truthful about the facts. My impression has not changed. I spent several hours the first day in his office listening to incredible stories from exsisting patients. I know he has worked on serval celebrities in the media recently, and he is the chief of bariatric surgury at his hospital so I feel very confident with his credentials.
The thing I liked least is that he is Very busy and he didn't get to spend a lot of time with me. For after care he has a nutritionist. He also has group therapy classes.
I will keep you updated!!!
Donna Rivera was excellent! I really liked her. She was very knowledgable about WLS, she works closely with Dr. Kurian and was able to really talk to me about things concerning the WLS and work through why I wanted and felt that the surgery was a good thing for me... She talked to me about my life and things that go on in my day to day world..she had a positive outlook on things toward WLS and all around I thought she was a very nice person. I actually enjoyed my session with her. I also recommend her highly!
