I enjoyed attending Dr. Curry's intro seminar. His presentation was quick but informativem and outlined all the potential risks of each type of WLS. I met with him personally during my 4 hour office visit, and he was personable but down to business. His staff was friendly and helpful. rnrnHe asked what my preferred type of surgery was, and seemed to hesitate slightly on my choice of lap-band based on my BMI but ultimately did not bring up other surgeries for me. rnrnHe has a great aftercare program which is rolled into the price of his surgery. He is also opening a satellite office in Columbus where i live, so that will be very helpful for my aftercare. rnrnI really like Dr. Curry and other offices iIcalled to compare pricing with spoke highly of him as well. So far I give Dr. Curry a glowing recommendation. rnrnSurgery scheduled for 11/3/2008.rnrnrn
I thought he was very caring.rnStill feel the same.rnThe staff is wonderful.rnCan't think of anything I didn't like.rnHe will answer his own emails.rnAftercare is very important. So much that they put in their own workout place.rnThey tell you the pros and cons or each surgery.rn10rnrnboth are great but alway surgical competence comes first. I've had surgeons without great bedside manner but I knew they were great surgeons. It's even better to have both.
I read so many good reviews of Dr. Curry, and was not disappointed when I met him. He's very professional and caring. He seems to take you as a whole person and not just register you as statistics. I was pleased. And I really appreciate that he has a set program fee for self-pay patients. My VSG will cost $14,700 including two years of follow up. There's an additional nonrefundable $400 sign-up fee, and some of the pre-op testing not related to his office I may have to pay what my insurance doesn't. (Expecting less than $500 for that, as they spelled it out...and that includes the psych eval.) The staff is nice and friendly and approachable. And if you are close enough to Cinci...they have a fitness center right next to the office that is run by Dr. Curry's practice and is geared specifically for wls patients. My surgery isn't scheduled yet (that's the next step, which I expect this week) but I'll definitely update my comments afterward. AprilrnrnOK...It's a month after surgery and I still love Dr. Curry's practice. My sleeve went great! I ended up staying 2 nights at the hospital because I fainted the first night (low bp)...but there were no additional fees. The self-pay costs covered up to 2 days in the hospital...and I was glad for the extra rest! The only problem I had was that the manual given to me prior to surgery said that I'd be on pureed foods as soon as I got home from the hospital, so I only had shake-based protein drinks on hand. It turns out I had to go for 2 weeks on clear liquids (they are fixing the manual, btw)...so I had almost no protein for a week. I was having constant dizzy spells and couldn't walk more than a few feet without almost fainting. I finally got some Isopure, and that helped...and they upgraded me to puree' a few days early. At that point the dizzy spells faded away. Everything's been fine since then. Everyone in the office is really nice, even the nutritionist was kind when she 'yelled' at me for eating things I shouldn't have. (Too many carbs!) I'm glad I chose Dr. Curry. --April
Dr. Curry is an excellent and talented surgeon. His staff is very helpful. His dietitians are wonderful as well. His office staff is a little disorganized but they get the job done. He also has a nice fitness center at his office.
Dr. Curry and his team are the best there is. The first time that I met him he was so nice and took his time with me to make sure all my questions were answered and that I had all the information that I needed. He never tried to pressure me into RNY like another Dr. had done to me which I am very thankful for. His staff are the most attentive, caring, compassionate people. And it is sooo wonderful to know that most of them are weight loss patients of Dr. Curry's as well.
I cant say enough good things about Dr.C and his staff. They have a up-beat attitude which I enjoy seeing each time I have a apointment.rnI believe that anyone that goes their would agree. rnI would recommend Dr.C To anyone that needs help with WLS. Thanks for being their when I have questions. BTW your staff is awesome! Thanks, ~Velvet~
Below is my initial post about Dr. Curry. He is no longer with Bethesda but has moved into a huge office building and has so many things to offer his patients. It is a Center of Excellence. He is so good to his patients and his staff. Everyone loves him.rnrnDr. Curry has a calm manner. He has treated me with understanding and kindness. He has recently \"come back home\" to practice after a few years in Northern Ohio. He is at Deaconess Hospital in Cincinnati and they have assured me that their WLS program is excellent. I will let you know. I am very excited! rnrnBTW I am a 51 yo female.rnrnI am so excited and happy with the care I have received and I haven't had my surgery yet! They have just been wonderfully compassionate and kind. I want to include their phone number in case anyone would like to talk to them or go to a seminar. 513-559-2545.
