Jeffrey Hannon, M.D. Bariatrics Bariatric Center
Dr. Snow has been doing surgery for many years. Gastric by-pass is just one of his specialties. He only performs two gastrics a week. He is older. Probably in his 60's. Dr. Snow has a 'Begin" program that you pay $100.00 for and can later get reimbursed by the insurance coverage. This is so you will take this plan seriously. He conducts the first "class" by explaning exactly what this surgery is going to do for you, and what your responsibilities are. The second meeting Dr. Snow interviews each person and schedules their surgery, while the others in your group are tested in walking up stairs, walking around a track and checking your blood pressure during these events. We were always encouraged to ask questions. And Dr. Snow emphasized that after care is where the true success was and that that was our responsibility. Always told us we could undo the surgery by over-eating at any time. There is a class with a dietician who is so special. She gives you every possible phone number, email address and cell phone numbers you could ever need for her dietary help and/or for problems. Dr. Snow's whole staff treats you so special. I want surgical competence. The nuses are the bedside care for me. Dr. Snow has an associate who is younger and does most follow-up care. With Dr. Snow providing leadership for the first 2 classes I have no problem with seeing an associate. I don't care about a good bedside manner. I am not looking for a friend. I am looking for excellent surgical skills. With Dr. Snow and Dr. Steve Weinstein, I happened to get both. I can't praise this group enough. They have been doing this for years. Not some new group, just starting up. My only complaint is pithy. I live 4 hours from Mobile but that isn't Dr. Snow's fault. I honestly have no negative comments. The hospital experience was wonderful with people who cared about my being successful.
Dr Hannon seemed nice and answered all my questions. Told me all about the surgery and had me watch a video. Made sure I knew this wasnt a quick fix and is not easy.
Aftercare was really emphasized and this was just a consult! WALK WATER WALK WATER! They have a support group there and you have to join it BEFORE surgery. The ladies at the office seemed friendly. Especially the lady who deals with the insurance, Mrs Ransier. (SP?)
We did have a problem with them not having my referral. And it taking forever to get it from my PCP after they called them. Even though that was my PCP's fault for not sending it and not theirs I felt like they should have been staying on my PCP and not have me keep calling and sitting there for nearly 2 hours after my appointment though!
Overall it was a good appointment and consultaion, although, I havent made up my mind yet about surgery.
Let me say that Dr. Snow and all his staff, the nurses, receptionists, and the other surgeons in the group are the most outstanding people in the world. They are very encouraging and answer questions willingly. I have had several other friends use the group and have done wonderful. Dr. Snow is very honest and up front. He told me he wasn't sure if he could do the procedure laperscopic or not due to my size but because he's such a good surgeon he did it. From the first time I went for a consaltation to all of my follow up appointments I never had a bad experience. The nurses and doctors are some of the best in the world. I picked Dr. Snow after lots of investigating. I'm a nurse and had a bad infection in my wound years before after a c-section and did not want that to happen again. Dr. Snow assured me of all the steps he would take to prevent it and it worked. I highly recomend Dr. Snow and his staff to anyone considering the surgery. He's very honest and informs you of all the risks of the surgery and aftercare. Your eating habits and the mental changes in your lifestyle. I've heard people say this is the chicken way out, It's not. You still have to do alot of life style changes.
I met with Dr. Weinstein on July 29 for the first time. I found him to be very knowledgeable and very easy to talk to. After listening to my story and why I had come to see him he led me through the history of how gastric bypass came to be. He also went over what he expects me to lose after the surgery. I'm in the process of getting my records sent to the office so my letter can be sent to the insurance company. Keep your fingers crossed!!
WhenI first met Dr. Ringold, I was excited about his knowledge and experince but I was shocked at how young he was or looks to be anyway. My first visit with him was very nice. He took the time to answer any and all questions that I may have had and even asked me questions too.
He thoroughly explained all the risks and benefits of surgery and what I should expect but that I could and should do as much additional research as possible and ask as many questions as I like.
His staff was also very nice and courteous. The nurses were alo nice and supportive. Each time i visite dthe office, I did not have to experiece extended wait times after my sceduled appointment. If my appointment was at 10:00 I was called back no later than 10:20.
His bedside manenr was awesome. Dr. Ringold came by and saw me in the hospital everyday. He was very compassionate, meaning, he wasn't afraid to put his hand on my shoulder and say tell me how proud of me he was that I was doing so well and improving so good. I really liked how much he showed he cared for his patients.
Had my initial consult with Dr. Hannon and he really understood my situation and answered any and all questions my wife and I had. It did take a while to get an appointment though. When I made my first appointment on December 12, 2003, the first available date they could give me was March 5, 2004. I called weekly to see if there were any cancellations, and finally got an appointment for February 4. The wait did not really bother me as I think Dr. Hannon is worth the wait!
God Bless Dr. Snow!!! He is by far the most
no nonsense, get down to business, tow your
part of the responsibility and let's have a
positive outcome Doctor in Alabama, and perhaps the US. He is also the only doctor
in Alabama who isn't afraid to operate on
us older patients. He didn't prejudge me by
my co-mobids, age, weight, or any other
outward appearances, and we have had a
no complications outcome. I would sing
his praises from the highest roof tops
as this man has saved my life.
My first impression of Dr Snow was that he was really laid back and straight forward and to the the point. He was really nice and explained everything well. He seems like an excellent doctor. He office staff was really nice and the insurance lady was really nice and helped me out alot. Now i'm just waiting to get approved.
