Jackson Health System Bariatric Center

He was GREAT!!!! So \"down to earth\" and comforting...great sense of humor and \"real\"ness about him. rnEmilio, his coordinator is great---too busy now and they need to clone him...but great none-the-less!rnAlthough their office is SUPER-busy, especially after being featured in a great local TV news program, as well as the Miami Herald, they are totally accesible. Dr. Jacobs comes highly recommended from several other Dr's who either had VS surgery themselves (or their family), PLUS has a great bed-side manner...BOTH are important!

My first impression was caringrnIt hasn't he really caresrnThe staff is A+rnThe least I liked about him was NothingrnHe is great, caring, and knows his stuff and wants to promote good healthrnLectures about eating right and making the commitment to better yournYes rnDefinately addressed the risks every visit and before the operating roomrnA+++++++++++rnEverything was great about him and his staffrnrnI really had no problems with Dr. Jacobs, he walked into the office went over everything with me, the pros cons, I did what he asked and met him in the Pre surgery room and he went over everything again, gave me a choice, I chose a new life and he gave it to me, they call me once a month to see how I am doing, I just wish I lived closer to the hospital to enjoy everything they have to offer

DR GOMEZ was very honest about the risks, procedure and if was sure the surgery was for me.He was not trying to sell his services at all.His staff is really busy,Emilio was very helpful i must say...
After surgery you will get your follow up visits, but that is about it!you are pretty much on your own..

I have only met him breifly. It was a good impression, but he was running to an emergency.
My other contacts have been with his staff for insurance and paper work.
The day that my surgery was tentatively scheduled,I met with and internist or assistant that briefed me on things to follow as additional clearance from specialist and clearance request from my regular Physician, also dieting prior to surgery.
He has been highly recomended by other Drs', wife, who had the surgery done by him, also by freinds of other members of my family, who he also performed the surgery on.
I was given material to read and also viewed a movie. Comparison was made among the different types of surgery and the risks that go along with each one.
I elected the Lap Band, but still have a lot of unsure fillings whether this is my best option or not.
I can not personaly evaluate him as yet, I have very little contact, whith him.

Dr. Gomez saved my life. :)
He is very professional, and also very caring and sincere. The office staff is amazing! I always look forward to my appointments, because I get excited about seeing everyone again!
Dr. Gomez performs his surgeries lap, and usually requires that you lose some weight before your surgery, on your own. This is important because it will shrink your fatty liver, which could otherwise get damaged if it remains too big. I was required to lose 20 pounds preop, in order for him to perform my surgery. Other patients I spoke to only had to lose 10. It was extremely difficult to do this, and it was hell without my tool! But I did it, because I wanted Dr. Gomez to perform my surgery above all others. And it was so worth it! I have never been happier and healthier in all my life! I would (and do!) recommend Dr. Eddie Gomez to everyone I meet who is considering WLS. :) He is amazing!

Just had my first consult. I went with two other ladies, one already was banded by Dr Jacobs. Everything went well, although it was a long day flying in from Tampa and back out again the same day. I had everything I needed (psych, cardiology, pulmonology with sleep study.... etc) They apparently do a lot of lapbands with Cigna and have good results with approval. I am hoping for a June surgery date... let's see how realistic that is! Dr Jacobs was very friendly and easy to talk to. He has done over 300 lapbands... a definate plus!

Dr. Jacobs is the most kind and compassionate person in the world. I never met him until the day before my surgery, but I knew as soon as I met him that he would take good care of me. When I went back home to MD 2 days post-op, he called me just about every day for the first week that I was home and had Laurie follow up with me for a week after that! His bedside was excellent, his technique apparently great because I have an AGB and a lot can happen with them, but so far nothing has. What a great man and Doctor.

When I first me Dr. Eddie Gomez, I thought "Oh man, he is young." but as I started talking to him, he made me feel comftorable. He understood that I am a big woman, and that I have tried all the diets in the world. He wasn't like the other doctors that say to you, "Try eating less, and then you will loose weight" I have had a doctor recently tell me secretly "Starve yourself for one month, only eating crackers..."
His staff- Emilio is a very busy guy, but he is very helpful!
Least about the doctor- Nothing.
Dr. Gomez has asked me a few times, that if I do not want to do this surgery anymore, that its "okay." He likes to make sure that I am 100% sure.
I am not sure about his after care right now.
Overall, He knows what he is doing. He is young and very smart.

Dr. Gomez was very nice. I was able to see him at my first pre-op appointment. Was very up front and told me about the pros and cons of the surgery.
I had my surgery and would highly recommend him. He was sensitive to my needs.
