Institute for Advanced Bariatric Surgery at MISH Bariatric Center

'I first met Dr Kaniewski at a seminar and she was very informative and answered all questions thoroughly. Since I'm a self pay I decided based on the information provided to go ahead and make my appt for a consultation. After meeting with her again one on one I was very impressed by her manner and she has a straightfoward personality that I appreciated. The office staff has been very helpful and the nurses have called me several times for various things to ensure everything was ready for my big day. She certainly stresses COMPLIANCE and that this isn't a cure all

I first met Dr. Kaniewski at the seminar and really appreciated her straight forward approach and this is just a tool. After meeting her in person April 14th I appreciated her even more.

She recognized that I didn't want a lot of discussion about the surgery -- I had done a lot of research, and came in with a "Mission Statement" so she kept things direct and to the point. I appreciate that, and it allowed us to move forward quickly. I LOVE her office staff -- they are very friendly and personable. The same is true for the surgery staff.
My only disappointment was in the scarring that was left. It was a lot more noticable than I thought it would be, and I wish I had known that before. I would not have changed anything, but I would have been better prepared for what I saw.

Doctor Kaniewski and all of the people in her office have been fantastic. I was very impressed with her in the beginning, and I've become more impressed as we've moved through this process. I'm a high risk patient because of my size(my BMI is almost 70), and I've got other health issues to boot. The pre op testing and work up have been very intesive, and I feel a lot better about the surgery after having done all of the testing.
I was scheduled for surgery about two weeks ago, but a low blood pressure reading before surgery forced us to reschedule it. They took excellent care of me, and discovered a medication problem my PCP had missed.
The only negatives in the experience have been the time consuming nature of it. I first met with them in May, and I'm scheduled for surgery next week. They are also out of network for many of the insurance companies here in KC, but I know they are working on that. .
They are first rate doctors; they treat their patients well, and they instill a trust that many doctors don't.
I'm scheduled for surgery on 11/08; I'm looking forward to it and to being a shadow of my former self afterward.

Dr. Kaniewski is wonderful, she is very attentive to my needs and she has taken every safety precaution to ensure that this will be a breeze. I think I am her heaviest patient yet (bmi 99) so she took extra measures which was reassuring. She is a smart soft-spoken woman who is very knowledgble about someone like me who has been struggling all my life with obesity. She has her own full staff hospital where she can preform the surgery onsite and a website(WWW.ISAOBESITY.COM)that has a wealth of info. I would recomind her to anyone.

I really liked Dr. K. She spent a lot of time with me pre-op. She visited post-op and made sure I was doing well. At my one week visit she spent time with me answering questions and I could tell that she really cared how I was doing. She wanted to make sure that I knew what to do postop and to call her if I had any questions.

I first met the doctors at a support group meeting two days prior to my initial consultation. My first impression is that they are genuinely interested in the well being of their patients. The consultation went well also. I had all of my questions answered and a surgery date given that day. I love these people! What other doctors office can you call and be transferred to the doctor without even asking. I will let you know more after surgery. The Dr. requires that you visit the office once a month for one year after surgery and attend several support groups that are held every first Saturday of each month. I went to one and it is very informative
