Institute for Advanced Bariatric Surgery at MISH Bariatric Center

Dr. K is just great, as is the staff and her other doc ... nice, I forgot his name. Both have been very good -- clearly a growing practice for them.

I am estatic to have Dr. K as my surgeon and her office and staff to be working for me. I think her progrm is top notch and cannot wait to be more involved as my surgery date become closer and then after. She is VERY knowledgable and answers any and all questions honestly. --- I have now had my surgery and do not believe that I could have had a better surgeon or surgery team. I arrived at the surgery center at 10 am and was home in my recliner at 3pm with no pain, just some soreness. Dr. Kaniewski even called me that evening to check on everything and was very caring & concerned. She did my stitches on the inside and I'm going to have some 'beautiful' scars compared to some railroad track scars I've seen on some other patients with other surgeons. I would recommend her, her collegues and her entire program to anyone looking into bariatric surgery.

My name is Terri, and I had the Lap-Band procedure done on 4/24/2006 by Dr. \"K\".rn rnMy first impression of Dr. \"K\" and her staff was very good. I felt that they had a genuine concerns about my health and well being, and didn't just see me as \"another surgery\".rnrnUpon my consultation I was informed of any and every concern I may have had, and all my doubts and fears were put to rest.rnrnOn surgery day, I was meet with lots, and lots of encouragement from the office staff, to the nursing staff , as well as anyone that was involved in taking care of me. My mind was put at ease, I was well relaxed when taken back to surgery, and while in recovery, the first smile I saw was the same smile I remembered seeing before being sedated.rnrnOverall, I LOVE the staff at MISH, and I look forward to every visit.rn rnDr.\"K\" is a wonderful person first, as well as a wonderful and caring surgeon. I would recommend her and her staff to any willing to make a \"life changing\" experience.rnrnThis would be the \"winning\" team to go with!!!rnrnTerri

11/12/06rnrnWell it's been a long time, but I have another surgeon and I am starting the process all over again. As I stated below, I am now in Kansas City, Mo so I have elected to go through the program at The Institute for Advanced Bariatric Surgery in Lexnexa, KS. rnrnI went to a seminar on Oct 21st that was lead by Dr. K. My first thought was: Wow, is this really the surgeon? Once I got pass looking at this lady who didnt look like she was a day over 25 I quickly realized that she really knew her stuff. But I was still thinking in the back of my head, I gotta find out more abt here, I don't want her experimenting on me. :-)rnrnWell by the end of the seminar I was sorta convinced that she wld be the one, but I wld make my decision once I had my one on one consultation.rnrnThe consultation was Nov 2nd and by the time it was over, there was no doubt in my mind that this was my surgeon. There was no beating around the bush or anything, she gave me facts, figures and a surgery date (pending medical clearance) right then and there. All my questions were addressed and then some. We talked abt the risks, aftercare, we hit on everything. When we finished I told her I was ready. I think I got a little caught up in the moment. rnrnThe office staff is wonderful. Angela, the patient coordinator is the BOMB. I feel as if I have known her for years. She and I talk regularly regarding the insurance issues. rnrnThe facility is gorgeous. The lobby is very comfortable especially that soft leather couch. I almost fell asleep. rnrnI went to another seminar Nov 11, again very informative. This time I brought my mom and also invited 2 of my co-workers that are also interested in having WLS. After the seminar, I went to the nutrition class. This was lead by Ms. Kuda. All I can say is Ms Kuda knows her stuff as well. She gave out lots of info and answered lots of questions as well. rnrnSo far, I have absolutely nothing negative to say regarding the program that these professionals are running. I feel like I am in the best of hands.rnrn*********************************rnrnWell I have now moved to Kansas City Missouri so therefore my journey start over. I am in the process of looking for a new surgeon.rnrnrn*********************************rnrnMy mom and I met with Dr. Bellanger totally unprepared. However, he provided plenty of information about the LAP BAND and RNY surgeries. I initially wanted the LAP BAND surgery b/c it's reversible...He didn't pressure me about either one, instead he gave me info on both and recommended the RNY. I left his office undecided...but a few days later I called back and decided on the RNY b/c of the amount of weight I wish to lose. He was very warm and comforting. The office at NeWeigh is gorgeous. It's filled with what appear to be antiques. The staff there were unbelievable friendly! They call themselves lil sisters. Most have been where I am now. They are encouraging and very friendly. They have been encouraging me to come to the support group on Wednesday night. Unfortunately, I haven't gone yet, but they have them every Wednesday, so eventually I plan to attend. I feel very comfortable with NeWeigh, especially since this is their specialty. So far I rate the experience a B+. I require surgical competence first and bedside manner a close 2nd.

My first impression of Dr. Wanda was that she was very sincere & caring. I didn't feel like she was judging me. The office staff is very efficient & friendly. I do wish that the office had initiated the post-op care. The only contact I've had post-op is the day after surgery & the 3 fills that I have made appt's for.

When I first met Dr. K I was impressed with her presences. I met her at a weight-loss symposium and I was impressed that she was on time, dressed nicely and answered every question without hesitancy. Listening to her talk only confirmed that I had made the right decision. I did research on her and read her bio and was impressed with her skills, talent, knowledge and she seemed so kind hearted. When we met in her office for a consultation she laid to rest many fears I had and made me feel important and everything that I had to say was important. Being a large person the last 20 years of my life, I sometimes feel like a second class citizen. She spend about an hour with me on that first visit, explained things in great detail. She talked to me on a level I understood and was comfortable with. She answered all my questions and treated me with dignity.

I met Dr. Wanda Kaniewski at one of the informational seminars that I attended. She was very receptive and open to all the questions people asked. The office staff is nice, especially her nurse/assistant she always has a smile. All of my appointments have been on time and she gives plenty of time to talk to me and let me ask questions. I have not gone to see the aftercare program that they have yet but I plan on soon. She covers all parts of the surgery, the pros and the cons. Verbally and Written Twice. I think Dr. Kaniewski is extremely compentant surgeon with an incredible bedside manner. The only negative that I had actually had to do with the male xray tech. he was rude and almost insensitive.

The first time I met Dr Kaniewski was in a seminar to find out about what their facility offered. I was totally impressed with the facility, the information, and staff on the first encounter. I left that evening knowing I had made the correct choice in that facility/surgeon. I had my first one on one visit with Dr K on July 20th and that day was the beginning of the changes in my life. She was very honest and up front with the information and concerns regarding my weight and BMI since I was a high risk. I weighed in at 538 lbs and had a BMI of 92. SHe was very frank with me and told me what I needed to do in order to have the surgery. SHe even talked with my teenage son to express to him how important it was for me to make changes in my life. I was very impressed with her including my son and how she handled the situation. I knew my life was now in her hands and she would help me with this wonderful tool I was going to be given. I had my surgery on Sept 26th and I had no problems, no pain, no discomfort or anything and I now have a chance to have a different life, a healthy life and an opportunity to live longer because of DR K and this wonderful Tool. THe staff has been fantastic and had my surgery experience a piece of cake.. I owe my life to them. Thank you Dr Kaniewski and your wonderful staff !!!

My first impression of Dr. Kaniewski was her sense of style. No I am not kidding! She was dressed in a very classy Ralph Lauren outfit which was a compliment to her knowledge as a doctor.rnrnShe did a very indepth review of my medical records and did an excellent job of explaining the outcomes and the rules associated with the lap band. She took the time to answer all the questions I had and was able to get me on her surgery schedule in a short amount of time. rnrnHer staff was helpful and friendly. She does have a structured aftercare program and/or support group meeting monthly which is physician facilitated as well. rnrn
