Gastric Band Institute Bariatric Center
I loved him when I met him. I still love him. The office staff and nurses are great. rate a 10+
D. Ponce was very professional. Gave update to wife after surgery. Was very happy with him. Fixed hernia for free.
The staff at the Gastric Band Institute are wonderful. 99% of the time when I call a real person answers the phone and all messages and emails are responded to on the same day. Dr Fromm spent a generous amount of time going over my questions and giving me details. The after care program is most impressive. I can't wait to get to that point!
I likes him a lot. He was very interested in my thoughts and concerns. He just didnt want to do the surgery for him, he wanted to know if I was a good candidate. He went over everything. The office staff is also very helpful, and caring. He and his staff are very big on the after care. You have to be very determined and promise to complete their program. I would adive anyone at this point to consider Gastric Band Insitute for the surgeon. I will let you know more after my surgery.
My first impression of Dr. Ponce was a kind and compassionate man. He seem to understand how I was feeling and offered advise as to help me. The LapBand Proceedure ...Sept 10 2007 at Hamilton Medical Center in Ga. Before surgury he came to see how I was and ask if I had an questionsrnbefore they took me back, I stayed in surgury about an hour then went to recovery, afterwards he came to my room and told me everything was fine I need to get up and be able to drink and go to the bathroom then I could go home.and that he wanted to see me in one week in his office. My first visit I weighed in and found that I lost already,I also recieved my 1st fill I was scared but his bedside manner made me feel at ease thru it all.I'm glad I had this done wish I'd done it twenty years sooner.
Dr. Ponce was very nice. He answered all of my questions and was not in a rush.
First impression: Very thorough!rnOffice Staff: Wonderful. Very helpful and friendly.rnAfter care is huge in his book. He puts a lot of emphasis on it.rnHe has a very structured after care program with support groups and follow up visits in addition to adjustment visits.
I really like Dr Ponce. He's very knowledgable in bariatric surgery, and I felt like he really knew what he was doing. I felt like the office staff was for the most part helpful and caring. They returned phone calls quickly, which I really appreciated. The thing I disliked the most is that the doctor didn't let me know that the band being used was the new \"realize\" band by Johnson and Johnson, not a name-brand \"Lap-Band.\" That's something I'd kinda like to know. Dr Ponce has a very structured aftercare program.
• What was your first impression of him/her? I liked him a lot. rn• How did your impression change over time? So far, no change.rn• How would you describe his/her office staff? Not impressed. They are not as good as he is. I’m surprised his office staff is as unprofessional as they are. He is such a top-notch surgeon. I’m still scratching my head over that.???rn• What did you like least about him/her? I like his reputation and knowledge about the Lap-Band procedure. rn• What should future patients know about him/her? He is very quick and to the point. Make sure to have your questions ahead of time or the appointment will go by so quick that you will soon realize that you didn’t get all the information you wanted.rn• How much does he/she emphasize aftercare? He didn’t emphasize aftercare a lot, but the program through his office did.rn• Does he/she have a structured aftercare program? Yesrn• How did he/she address the risks of surgery? Up front but very reassuring. rn• How would you rate him/her overall? I would give him a 8 with 10 being the highest. rn• Which is better, surgical competence, bedside manner, or are both great? Surgical Competence is #1 but bedside manner helps. Dr. Ponce has a balance of both.rn rn
