The Metabolic & Weight Management Center is unique to the Sandhills and one of the few comprehensive metabolic centers in North Carolina. The Center offers both surgical and non-surgical medical weight management services. A joint venture between Pinehurst Surgical Clinic, FirstHealth and Pinehurst Medical Clinic, the Center is known for high-quality patient care, unparalleled support, and continued education for each patient’s long-term weight-loss success.

Our multidisciplinary team includes a staff of bariatric surgeons, an on-site endocrinologist and obesity medicine physician, registered dietitians, behavioral health staff, a registered nurse, and a patient navigator.

The journey through weight loss is a very personal one, and we provide our patients with individualized care and several options for weight-loss success and improved health.

Weight Loss Surgery at the Metabolic & Weight Management Center

With a commitment to providing safe and effective patient care, our expert bariatric surgeons perform the Roux-en-Y (RNY) Gastric Bypass and the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG) as surgical treatment options for significant weight loss and maintenance. Both procedures are performed laparoscopically.

If you are ready to start your weight loss journey, you can begin by attending a required in-person seminar or online information session where you will learn about your surgical and non-surgical treatment options, meet bariatric surgeons, other bariatric surgery patients and get answers to questions you have. 

Medical Weight Management at the Center

We offer medical weight management services for individuals who are not candidates for bariatric surgery, or those who would like to try a non-surgical approach first. Many factors influence weight loss and gain, including stress, genetics, medications and lifestyle habits.

Our on-site endocrinologist and obesity medicine specialist helps treat the complex disease of obesity and its related disorders by assessing each individual to determine an appropriate regime. Weight management treatment may include further lab work, medication management, customized diet plans, access to a variety of nutrition classes in our full-service kitchen and guidance from a registered dietitian.
