Kim Bariatric Institute Bariatric Center
Do not trust these people. They called us the day before the surgery, after a very difficult three weeks of the liquid diet, and told us that they suddenly discovered something on a test done three weeks ago and cancelled us. The thing is that what they said can't be true. From what I witnessed I think that they overbooked and cancelled us because of that. So at best they don't pay attention to their tests and at worst they overbook and cancel at the last minute. To pull this on someone after three weeks of a very hard to do liquid diet is the most unprofessional thing that I've ever seen. Do not trust these people
Dr. Holden did my band to sleeve revision in Sept. 2016. It was done as an outpatient, and she did a wonderful job. My recovery has been so easy, as if I had never had surgery. She (and her staff) answered all my questions before and after. She is easy to speak with and very professional. What I like most is that she is very straightforward and has no qualms telling you her professional opinion. I highly recommend her.
Dr. David Kim is by far one of the best surgeons I have met. Granted I have never had a surgery previous to my VSG he was polite, respectful. and answered all my questions. His staff is just as exceptional they wet above and beyond what they had to too ensure that I got my surgery, because once again insurance was trying to screw me. I had my surgery 4 months ago and I feel amazing I am so glad I did it and that Dr. Kim and his staff are always there for me makes it even better. I got my life back thanks to this surgery and thanks to Dr. Kim.

I'm almost 9 yrs. post op RNY gastric bypass....Dr. Kim is the best!!! He is the most caring surgeon IMHO that there is. He has not only done my RNY but 4 yrs. ago he removed my gallbladder, and he has repaired 2 intestional hernias as well. Both the hernia surgeries he worked in between doing his bariatric surgeries due to the fact that they were emergencies. There are not many doctors that will seriously work in a emergency surgery when their day is already full doing other surgeries. That just shows how much Dr. Kim cares for the health and well being of his patients If you want to have surgery with a caring surgeon who will take great care of you for a lifetime...then use Dr. Kim. He is one amazing surgeon !!!

Dr. Kim is the most careing doctor that I have ever met. He is completely concerned about our health and wellfare and wants to be sure that we are in tip top shape before he does surgery on you. If he has a doubt about anything that has to do with your health he will send you to a specialist for their opinion. I liked everything about Dr. Kim. He is very straightforward in what he says to you and he tells you exactly what you need to know. I haven't had my surgery yet. I am in the third month of dieting for my insurance (Aetna HMO). I go back on the 21st of October and I am unsure if I turn all of my WL journals into him then or turn them in to Pam ( his coordinator ). All of his staff are very knowledgeable of the surgery and what all that we will have to go through. I know that he does have a structured after care and he does tell us from the beginning about all the risks of the surgery. I would rate him and his staff 15 out of the 1-10. They are all very careing and friendly and care alot about their patients. He has monthly meetings that he really encourages his patients to attend after their surgery and he encouranges you to exercise and Walk. He is the best and anyone considering WLS in the Fort Worth
should consider using him. For a thin man ........He truely has a heart for the obese and really wants to help us to live a normal and healthly life.

Dr Kim changed my life!!! I was sleeved in September of 2011. I have list and maintained over 100 lbs!! Dr Kim and his staff care about their patients. I feel like part of their family They are so encouraging. I honestly look forward to office visits! They also gave monthly support meetings. The meetings are a wonderful way to meet people. I have meet so many friends. It's nice because I know they are going thru the same thing I am and it's so nice to have a sounding board!! Gastric sleeve was the best decision I gave made!!! Thanks Dr Kim!!!
Dr Kim performed my sleeve surgery in Jan 2012 and I couldn't be happier - 2.5 yrs and 75lbs lost. I chose Dr Kim based on recommendations from my PCP and OB/GYN. During my initial consultation he was very direct about the health issues caused by obesity and the challenges of losing and keeping off the weight, but he was also kind and compassionate and talked to me about my concerns with my weight and having WLS. It is what I needed to hear to finally make the decision to move forward. His staff from the front desk to the nurse and PAs to the girls in insurance were all excellent, they were friendly, supportive and always available to answer my questions during the process.
I only saw him during my initial consult and the morning of my surgery but each time he was caring and spent time with me to ensure my questions were answered. He also spoke, at length, with my husband directly after my surgery to let him know that everything went well.
All of my aftercare during the first year and my yearly followups have been with his great staff. They are available via phone when I have a question - even 2.5 years post-op - and during his monthly support group meetings or when I go in for my follow-ups. And if I need to see Dr Kim again for any reason, I know I can make an appt with him anytime during his office days. He has a great support group that meets monthly and that helps me stay connected and focused for the long-term. I still go frequently and there are patients there from 7-8 years post-op to newly post-op,
My one regret is that I spent 2 years thinking about having WLS, wondering and worrying about whether it was the best choice for me, thinking I could do it on my own and wasting my time on diets that didn't work for me. Now I can keep up with my kids, go to bootcamp, hike, do 5k/10k events and just about anything else that I want to.

I chose Dr Kim bc a friend had used him and she really liked him. I also like the idea of him being on billboards and commericals. He is very passionate for what he does and has changed many lives due to his skills. He did my sleeve Jan 2012 and I have no regrets choosing him as my doctor. I got to see him on my consult, day of surgery and day after. The staff is great too, they helped me through to help me be successful. I highly recommend him!

He was very nice during the consultation. That would the last I ever heard from him. His as stand, Kathleen, messed up my patient information at the hospital, as well as info on others. The office became livid when I pointed it out as something that concerns me. My post about it on their fb page was removed, anything neg you post will be removed. I had a fever of 102 for an entire day, stayed in the hospital way longer than I should. Horrible nurses and care. Kim's office called me the day after surgery and said it was my fult for feeling so sick, because I wasn't drinking enough. I was still hooked up to son iv. She was shocked I was still in the hospital. She hung up on me, called the nurses desk and told them I called Kim's office ranting and raving about the care I was getting. This made the charge nurse get within inches of my face, yelling at me. Her retaliation was to insist I needed too new ivs and three separate sets of lab done. She would not respond to the nurse buzzer, and refused to give me sent Meds until the next shift, of whom she would tell them I already received the Meds. I literally thought I was going to die there. His office was cold and callous. Not this friendly group they appear to be during consults. I have to have scans done to make sure I received a ds and not just a sleeve, he apparently has a history of not doing the full surgery. Pick a doctor that cares about you and does not see you as a number. This has been a downright terrible ordeal, one I regret because of the fear he did not do the procedure correctly

Dr Holden, Dr Kim's partner, performed my surgery. Although I met with Dr Holden only very briefly once before surgery, talked to her on the day of surgery and see the staff the rest of the time since surgery, I have complete confidence in their ability to care for me and process.
If you are in the DFW area (or not!) and are thinking about it, just call the office and let them run your insurance. You can proceed with total confidence in the fact that these two doctors have a combined experience level that is bar none top knotch in the North Texas area. The staff is a well-oiled machine but unlike machines, they have a heart and great personalities! They will celebrate with you, cry with you and cheer you on to be the healthy and best you can be!
