Chicago Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery Bariatric Center
02/27/2003 Today was my consultation visit with Dr. Frantzides, I am very confortable with him and his staff.
He explained to me he's performed many lap surgeries, and he's good at it. He also added he loves what he does. He guarantees I will be very happy with the results. He is very busy yet he answered all my questions I had. Then I met with Dr. Moore, the assistant. Dr. Moore and I had a question and answer session, very willing to answer all my questions.
I like both drs. I am very confident things will go well for me. I walked out of my first consultation with a surgery date, to my surprise, of May 6, 2003.
Katheleen was very busy she is Dr. Frantzides Admin. Asst., she needs a pair of roller skates for that place yet she stopped when I asked her to for any question I had. I would highly recommed Dr. Frantzides to anyone for any laproscopic surgery. He does all not just weight lose surgery.
I was and am very pleased with Dr. Frantzides. I met with Dr. Frantzides on 10/31/02 for an initial consultation after extensive research on the surgery. I found him to be very personable and easy to converse with. The initial visit with him was very satisfying. Dr. Frantzides spent time with me and answered each and every one of my questions in detail.
Dr. Frantzides performed my surgery on 01/29/03. During the post-op visits in my hospital room he continued to listen to me patiently and answered my post-op questions as throughly as he had my pre-op questions.
I am very happy at this point with my experiences with Dr. Constantine Frantzides.
I also need to give credit to Dr. Moore who was present at my initial consultaiton, surgery and post-op visits. He was just as pleasant and informative with a great bedside manner. Thanks to both.
Dr. Frantzides extrudes confidence & this made me confidnet that he would do a great job. He and his staff were very helpful in providing information & making the entire process as pain free as possible (physically and otherwise). I researched many options for the surgery, including different types of surgery & locations and I am convinced he was the best choice - not just a bariatric surgeon, but a laproscopic specialist. He was highly recommended by my personal physician, who is also a good friend of mine. He also has a wonderful nutritionist and provides a post op support group.
As a result of my experience with obesity and a wonderful doctor, Constantine T. Frantzides, my life now has great meaning to my family and me.
My sister an RN, notified me of a seminar that she had read in the newspaper in reference to Dr. Frantzides. I traveled 700 miles (from Virginia) to attend this seminar in Chicago on September 11, 2001. This was the day I decided to take control of my life.
My first impression and my impression today is that I have found a surgeon in which I have full confidence. I find Dr. Frantzides and his staff to be knowledgeable and very attentive to my questions and concerns what- ever and whenever they may be.
On September 24th, 2001 Dr. Frantzides and Dr. Madan (Dr. Madan now located in Memphis, TN)performed Laparoscopic Gastro-bypass on me. Although this type surgery is not painless, I found having it done by laparoscopy, the recovery time was tremedously decreased.
My top weight was 267,sixteen months after surgery I now weigh 150 pounds. My new life consists of happy energy fulfilled days with my family.
Thank You! Dr. Frantzides for giving me a second chance at life.
After feeling like I was doing my "homework" by attending large group meetings sponsored by physician groups also performing the surgery, I attended a small group meeting at a big city hospital where Dr. Frantzides explained the various surgeries available throughout the world and his reason for prefering the Roux-n-y technique. He stressed the importance of minimally invasive surgery and stressed the follow-up that would be required for success.
His professional demeanor and his emphasis on the whole person impressed me. However, what set him apart from the others that I'd seen was his interest in keeping actively engaged in the field of laproscopic surgery as it relates to a variety of patient concerns, not just gastro bypass. This experience keeps Dr. Franzides "fresh" and knowledgable about his field.
The office staff mirrors the professionalism of Dr. Frantzides. Kathleen has been available to answer questions and really is encouraging to patients.
RATING: A+

Dr. Frantzides has a true passion for his work. Every question was thoroughly answered on my initial visit. He makes you feel as though you were his only patient.
My surgery went according to plan. His frequent visits post-op was like having your father visit you. A true concern for my total understanding of what I was to exspect the next day, next week, next month.
Even the nurses at the hospital commented to me how fortunate I was to have Dr. Frantzides.
His staff at the office, especially Kathleen were outstanding. My insurance company made me jump thru hoops to get an ok. Kathleen helped me from start to finish.
My first visit to the office post-op provided me with additional information.
The two best decisions I've ever made in 53 years:
1)Have the surgery
2)Have Dr. Frantzides do it
Dr. Frantzides was very professional. He is very qualified in the area of bariatric surgery. I felt confident that he was the right doctor for me. He gave me tons of information prior to surgery and took the time to explain what I could expect. After my surgery, he explained in detail the surgery. He was warm and caring. He emphasizes the importance of getting protein when you return home. I would recommend him to anyone. His staff is quite busy, but they do all the initial paperwork for you. They will let you know what you will need for your insurance. After surgery, I needed to see the dr on Thursday, but my husband had to work. Kathleen in the office, scheduled a time on a day the dr normally does not see patients. I was impressed by that. My only small disclaimer is that there is not a lot of contact between you and the office. Although I like a good bedside manner, surgical competence is much more important for my well being. I was glad to find a doctor who has both.
Dr. Constantine and his staff were very warm and open to me at my first visit. I had previously attended a seminar given by Dr. Constantine on the benefits of weight loss surgery and the greater benefits of doing this surgery via laproscopic. My first visit was detailed and informing. I was given information about Dr. Constantine, the surgery, current news articles, and aftercare information to take home with me. I felt this was especially important because majority of the times you don't always ask the doctor the questions you have in the first visit and some of the things that are told to you during that visit don't always stick in your mind. I did not have any problems with my insurance. His staff has been very accommodating and helpful. I'm ready to shed the weight.
