I am a nurse and I met Dr. Frantzides in 1998 when he was the Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Wise Memorial Hospital. He performed a breast biopsy on me at that time. Years later I found myself taking care of his patients at St. Francis Hospital and I was always impressed with how fast his patients recovered after sugery. No matter what type of surgery it was, they would be ready to go home the next day. Not only is Dr. Frantzides respected and loved by his patients but also the nurses. His smile and caring attitude is contagious and he is a pleasure to work with. When I was told by my gastroenterologist that I had a hiatal hernia and gastroesophageal reflux and I needed to have surgery I didn't have to think twice who would be my surgeon. Dr. Frantzides did my hiatal hernia repair and since I was morbidly obese my gastric bypass laparoscopically four months ago. I have always been on the side of the caregiver and it was a humbling experience to be on the patient's side. It was such a blessing to have Dr. Frantzides as my surgeon. It is quite obvious for those who know him that he has a passion and love for his profession.

It's been a year today since the surgery and I cannot tell you how good I feel about myself. I lost 185 pounds and I plan on loosing more. Thinking back one year ago I never though I would be this position, feel this good which is making my life and the people in my life much easier. This decision was probably the best decision since I ever made since I got married. The support from my family to have this operation and the support from them and the docotor thought this year is the reason I am in such good health. I used to take blood pressure medicine and medicine for my arthritis, and I haven't taken them since the surgery. I can now go into the restaurant, theatre, airplaine, and nor worry about where I am going to be seated. I used to be 5X and just the other day I bought a size "large" shirt. The biggest hill to get over is make the decision to have the operation, after that you will see the results and you will never regret it.

It has been a month since my gastric bypass surgery. I have lost 33 pounds. I can't begin to express the difference this surgery has made in my life. I can now sleep better. I have no back pain in the mornings. My blood pressure is now within the normal range. I have so much more energy. It's amazing how great I feel. I know it will only get better as time goes by. I am so grateful to Dr. Frantzides. I can't say enough about how great he is. I also have to thank his wonderful staff, always friendly and willing to help with any questions no matter how many times I call.

I am so happy with thisdocotor. Three months ago I had my surgery, and so far I lost more than 50 pounds. I am very happy that I chose this doctor. I had to have this surgery because of my comorbidities mainly, the weight loss is a very nice bonus. I am feeling much better and I am looking better, my kids are happy, my husband is happy. I am very pleased with the staff too, they are very helpful. I am now looking tforward to reaching my weigh goal in about 6 months. I recommend you guys to choose this doctor, he is the best.

Dr. Frantzides has been a phenomenal surgeon and doctor. My first impression was he was confident, experienced and friendly. That impression still holds true today. His office staff, Theresa, has been a great resource and supportive to help with any questions I had pre/post operation. Dr. Frantzides took time to explain to me the various options for weight loss surgery that I had. He was open to my long list of questions and answered each honestly. If you decide to go with him for any surgery, be prepared to follow the rules. Each time I see him, he reiterates the importance of sticking with the dietary and physical requirements for me (at the various stages throughout the process thus far). Since I respect him and the work he has done, I continue to follow the rules and have seen the anticipated successes thus far. Overall, he is a fantastic doctor and I would recommend him to family, friends and strangers alike.

My story is not an atypical story. I gained weight over the years beginning with my three pregnancies as it does for many women. Over the past 24 years my weight more than doubled. It began to affect my health. My blood pressure rose and I began to take medication. I also began to suffer from acid reflux and depression. I realized I had to make a change. I am so thankful I found Dr. Frantzides. It all began when I called for an appointment. Teresa was a warm and friendly voice. Her enthusiasm and knowledge regarding Dr. Frantzides convinced me to schedule an appointment. After our first meeting I felt as though I had an opportunity for a new lease on life. One rarely comes across a physcian who's love of profession is so evident. Dr. Frantzides is one of those rare doctors. He walked me through the procedure with such care. Dr. Frantzides instilled in me a sense of confidence not only with his impeccable credentials but with the love for his craft. I had surgery 9 days ago. I feel as though I have started a new life. I will continue to sing Dr. Frantzides' praises.

Hospital knows this Dr an they all were amazing...
I was lucky followed the Dr Instructions and went in for surgery and was back home by noon the next day no complications or mishaps this man knows what he is telling his patients an it does go that easily I swear it !

I know my Journey is far from over now I will be looking for Dr F to take care of the Plastic Surgery to get everything back in place better !


I Started my Journey at 388 lbs today I am currently at 267 Lbs that is 121 lbs total so far I am shooting for a goal of 200 lbs I am well on my way !

I love Dr. Frantzides!!! I am so so happy with my Gastric Bypass, after 1 year I am almost down 150 pounds and still losing. Now I just need to save up for the plastic surgery to but things back in their proper places.

The Dr. is kind, compassionate and has an excellent bedside manner. His staff is amazing too, always willing to help you, listen and follow you on your journey.

I would recommend this team to anyone and everyone. This decision was one of the best I have ever made!

I cannot express enough how grateful I am to have come across Dr. Frantzides' picture on this website when I first started looking for a surgeon. His was the 1st one I came across & as I reviewed others, I kept coming back to his page. I knew he was the one I was meant to see. I just thought he looked so friendly & amiable. And after reading his credentials, holy cow, I knew he was the one! His office staff when I had my surgery was absolutely wonderful. I had my surgery on Sept. 10, 2007. I had the RNY. My first office visit, I was so nervous & embarrassed that it had come to this point, that I had to resort to surgery because I couldn't do it on my own anymore. I had basically just given up until I read about gastric bypass & Dr. F's profile. He made me feel wonderful and optimistic for the 1st time in several years. He said this was a tool for me to help me lose weight. He was charismatic, positive, funny, compassionate & has a great sense of humor. My kind of person. :) He went over everything, his assistant at the time, Dr. Lu, was a very, very nice man & he was easy to talk to, as well. His nurse at the time, Lesley, was also awesome & answered tons of my questions also. I had a difficult time recovering from the anesthesia, which has never happened before, so I had to stay in the hospital a few days longer. Personally, I got the impression before surgery that the anesthesiologist I was talking to, she seemed a little like a greenhorn so I will be sure to ask in the future to meet the main person & make sure he/she will be the one administering it; however, I don't know if that had anything to do with it or not & perhaps it didn't, but as I had never had a problem before, it crossed my mind. I did have quite a bit of discomfort healing from my left incision thru my muscle but my mother had absolutely no trouble when she had her surgery, so each experience for everyone is different. But throughout the time I was healing from that, I was able to get ahold of anyone in that office & ask even the most redundant questions & feel like I was never putting them out. I live 6 hours away, so that was a great comfort to me. I began to heal & here I am, 100 pounds lighter at one point, have gained a few but will lose those once I get back on my exercise program.

My overall rating of Dr. Frantzides is more than the 5 stars that allow. He's a 10 in my book. I just had my visit with him Thursday (6/13/11) & he will also be doing a lipectomy (removal of the excess skin on my abdomen) whenever I can get the time off. I am eternally grateful for this surgery & I am eternally grateful for the good Dr. F for being my surgeon. :-)

I would highly reccomend Dr. Frantzides for WLS. I decided to have gastric bypass surgery, after 15 years of struggeling with my weight. I tried all of the diets with, and without working out, and the results were never long-lasting, and the weight loss never fast enough...it was very discouraging. I decided that I wanted and needed to lose the weight once and for all. With Dr. Frantzides help, I will meet my goal within a years time. I am focused and committed to following the rules for WLS patients, and have the ability to follow through based on the success of my surgery. I would reccomend Dr. Frantzides to anyone who is interested in WLS, and who wants an exceptional surgeon to perform their procedure.
