Community Bariatric Surgeons Bariatric Center
I was very impressed with Dr. Jones. She is very knowlegable about what she does. She was my mothers surgeon so I knew a little about her before my consultation. She is very informative about the procedures she performs and will answer any questions you have. The thing I liked least was the length of time it takes to set up the surgery. It will be about 6 months from concultation to surgery date. The office staff seem very helpful but they also seem very busy. Dr. Jones emphasizes aftercare and also suggest you attend support groups they offer. Her view of the risks of surgery were more or less that the risks of being overweight were as bad or worse than the risks of the surgery. At this point I would rate her excellent with exception to the delay. She has an excellent bedside manner (opposite of most surgeons from my experieces).
My first impression of Dr. Jones' was that she seemed to be a very caring person. Dr. Jones' was able to answer everyone's questions.
I have only had one meeting as of yet with Dr. Jones and that was for the Orientation/Individual Meeting on December 8, 1999.
Her office staff was pleasant and courteous.
During the orientation Dr. Jones' explained both types of surgeries and explained the pro's & con's for each surgery and stated that the type of surgery was determined on an individual basis.
Dr. Jones has always been pleasant and willing to answer any questions you may have.
Dr. Jones and her nurse are wonderful. I have had several dealings with her nurse Karen due to my incision.
I would recommend Dr. Jones to anyone who was interested in having the surgery. They have you set up on a 2 week, 6 week, 3 month, 6 month, 9 month and a year post opt visits. If more are needed, there is no problem in getting in to see her.
At my 3 month post-opt visit I did not see Dr. Jones'. She was in the office but I was seen by Kami and I'm not sure if she is Dr. Inman's nurse or a nurse practioner but I don't really like her that well. I know one time when I had to go in to have my incision packed, she didn't act like she knew what she was doing.
I go November 21st for my 6 month post-opt visit so I am hoping to see Dr. Jones and not Kami.
One thing that Dr. Jones' does not tell people about up front is that your 6 month, 9 month, and 1 year appointment is charged your co-pay.
All that she tells you is that you will be set up with a 2 week, 6 week, 3 month, 6 month, 9 month and a year appt. I will be pleased
to pay the co-pay because I think it is important to continue the program. However, I will not continue if I have to pay a co-pay to see a nurse or practioner as opposed to the doctor who did the surgery.
Dr. Jones seems to be a very compassionate and capable physician. She puts a great deal of emphasis on the aftercare program offered at St. Vincent. She was open and honest about the risks and potential complications of the surgery. She reviewed the two types that she performs and discussed what the differences were.
I think both bedside manner and surgical competence are equally important.
The only thing negative I can think of is that Dr. Jones is a very small person and even tho' I did not ask her, I'm sure she has never had a weight problem.
What a sweetie, Dr Jones is the best, she explained everything I needed to know, by the end of the consultation, I could only think of one other thing to ask, she definately has her act together. Her office staff on the other hand...we had a number of problems getting things taken care of, communications is definately not their strongest suit, they forgot to tell me that my psych eval would have to be scheduled by me, I thought it was something that they would schedule, I almost found out too late to have the surgery, perhaps a checklist in my file would have helped to make sure all bases were covered. My hat however goes off to Vickie, Dr Jones assistant, she was always VERY prompt in getting my questions answered, GOOD JOB!
Rosemarie Jones took all the time my wife and I needed to answer all of our questions and concerns. She is sincere open and honest and I feel she cares about me alot. Her office is also very professional caring and good at putting your fears at ease. Aftercare programs were stressed as and road to success. Starting on time would have been a plus but I realize a persons day never goes exactly as planned.
I only met Dr. Jones once--at the initial consultation, but she comes highly recommended and my first impression of her was very favorable. She spoke very clearly about the surgical options available and seemed to really understand the problem of obesity. Her office staff seems very competent. I understand that aftercare is a big part of the program with Dr. Jones's surgical group and expect to learn more about that at my pre-op class on May 9.
I met with Dr. Jones after the intial group consultation. I found her pleasant and easy to talk to. I have not seen her since, but have found all the people in her office helpful and the people at the Bariatric Center at St. Vincent's. One of the reasons I chose this program was because it seems to be well structured. I first met with Dr. Jones the beginning of February and my surgery date was set for 6 months later. I didn't expect such a long wait, but I fiqure it took me more than six months to gain this weight, so I can wait. Most of the time seems to be because of consultation appointments.
I liked Dr. Jones and her mannerisms. I especially liked how she answered all of my questionsont he first visit.
I realize that I have only met her once but she and her staff have been most helpful. I met her in a group meeting back in October. I was denied by my insurance company so her staff assisted me in finding a company that would approve it. They did and I switched during open enrollment. I now am scheduled for surgery in June. It semed like a lifetime but as the days click by and the months are torn from the calendars, I realize that June is just around the corner.
I will update later after my surgery
